Can you say one thing that your DP does that is completely unnecessary but makes your day that bit better?

Mine is tea in bed. Everyday. Didn't know I liked tea that much but would really miss it if he didn't do it.

Me too with the cup of tea - like Goldilocks in reverse, there is a steaming cup of tea waiting for me on the chest of drawers when I wake up (DH leaves before I get up).

He also slinks off to the kitchen after meals and very quietly tidies everything away before I realise so I don't have to stack the dishwasher.

He is a sweetie.

MerryWinterfel · 19/02/2014 16:28

Cup of tea in bed for me too, he has no idea how important it is to me and how it helps me face the day (mental health issues).

SignoraStronza · 19/02/2014 16:30

Lifts me up in a bear hug, cracks my weary spine and calls me a freak.

MrsCharlesBrandon · 19/02/2014 16:35

He puts DCs to bed and sits with DS till he falls asleep.
He makes their packed lunches 3 times a week, a job i absolutely loathe!

He buys/makes me wine! :o

encyclogirl · 19/02/2014 16:37

Takes care of all the laundry. I never have to think about it.

Tea in bed on the weekends. Love that boy!

youmakemydreams · 19/02/2014 16:46

He brings me tea and toast in bed at the weekends.
He is not dc's dad and terrified himself googling 'meeting girlfriends children' that he was going to get it all wrong. It turns out he's a natural and has survived potty training and Dd's puberty is starting outbursts with a calmness I lack as well as letting them tinker on the car with him and plays Mario kart the second he's in from work.
He makes sure I never fall asleep without a cuddle and a kiss goodnight.

rainingdays · 19/02/2014 18:26

Does all the washing up (stuff that can't go in the dishwasher) - I can't stand it and it all piles up when he's away.
Creeps carefully around my piles of 'stuff' when I'm using the living room as a studio/office.

SerenaBracken · 19/02/2014 18:33

He snuggles my little Maltese Terrier against my knees before he leaves. My man love is a fork lift driver, so very tough, but he loves our sweet little girl.

insancerre · 19/02/2014 18:40

He always puts the coffee and milk in my cup in the morning so I only have to boil the kettle and he always uses my teacup and never a mug
he cooks lovely meals for me, cos h knows I hate cooking
he always gets the right cutlery out of the drawer for me for my meals, the thick chunky ones, and never the thin ones
he always buys me wine if he gets beer for himself and doesn't need to ask me first (oh the wine fairy has been again, I say, fair winds him up :))
he takes the bins and does the recycling
he chops the wood and lights the woodburner when it's a bit chilly
I think he's a keeper (well I've had 27 years to work that out)

Phalenopsis · 19/02/2014 18:46

One thing - he holds my hand. His hands are always warm. It just feels nice.

clam · 19/02/2014 18:48

Whenever he arrives home, he calls out "Can I get you anything? Cup of tea? Glass of wine?"

SerenaBracken · 19/02/2014 18:59

My man love rides a moped. He wears a turban so I always get to wear the helmet.

EeyoreIsh · 19/02/2014 19:16

My DH I'd amazing Grin I love that he always makes me tea and toast in the morning. At the moment he also makes me a midnight snack as I'm breastfeeding and get starving. He also makes me a mint tea each evening.

He's a star.

aylesburyduck · 19/02/2014 19:23

I get a cuppa every morning and when I'm having a bath he runs in every 10 minutes to kiss me.

He also switches on my electric blanket about half an hour before we go to bed so my side is nice and warm Grin

I luffs him. A lot Grin

HoratiaDrelincourt · 19/02/2014 19:24

He massages my feet/legs without expecting sex.

He's so good at it I make sex noises, which makes it all the more impressive.

eslteacher · 19/02/2014 19:35

Spoons me every night.

He's away this week and I miss being spooned...

tinywife · 19/02/2014 19:42

Ah this is such a sweet thread, it seems there are a lot of lucky ladies out there!

My DH works abroad and is a complete angel when he's away (especially compared to some of the men he works with!) - calls / texts / emails every day and he always makes time to find out how my day was, even after his upteenth 12 hour day on the trot :)

Even better when he's home as he doesn't work then.. my favourites being:

Rubs my back every morning to convince me to get out of bed for work.
Then brings up tea and toast while I'm in the shower.
Does all the household chores when he's home - I'm treated like a princess! He even asks for a list of jobs to do while I'm out, he calls it his 'busy work'!
Will happily do lots of girly things on our days together - spas, shopping etc - funny cos at work he is such a manly man!
He lets me choose/decide everything - he's the most laid back person I know which is good as I'm such a control freak!
He strokes my hair as I fall asleep every night.

I don't think I could have married a kinder, more beautiful, hard working, caring man :) It's a good job we love each other so much!!

2kidsintow · 19/02/2014 19:45

DH gets up for work at 5.

If the curtains are open a crack, he'll shut them so it stays dark and the light doesn't wake me before the alarm goes off.

And on the weekend, he feels like he's already had a long lie in be 9ish, so he's happy to get up and leave me for a longer lie in.

:)

Whatnamenext · 19/02/2014 20:34

This is just the antidote to the nastier side of rekationships.

OP posts:
fatedtopretend · 19/02/2014 20:50

He would come to bed with me even if he wasn't tired yet because he knew I couldn't sleep well alone.

He would call me a freak for crunching and cracking all my bones every morning and night.

He called me his copilot whenever I was left to do directions in the car (I am useless at them but he never got mad)

YouStayClassySanDiego · 19/02/2014 20:57

He always makes me tea and brings it up every day.

He always strokes my back as I doze off to sleep.

Meerka · 19/02/2014 21:27

has tea ready for me when I get out of the shower. Unnecessary but oh gosh, I appreciate it.

Necessary things: getting son ready for school and taking him. Shopping. Putting son to bed. Damn you Hyperemesis. Ok it'll get easier once the baby is born but he never complains, is always willing to do that bit extra.

Even when the baby is born he'll still prepare our older son for school, cause due to sleep and health problems, I'm dangerously clumsy in the mornings.

Sidge · 19/02/2014 21:30

We don't live together and haven't been together very long but he:

Starts a bath running as I finish work when I'm going to his that night so I have a hot bubbly bath waiting when I arrive - he'll then bring me a glass of wine and make dinner whilst I soak.

He'll carry bags, open jars, lift things and shell my pistachios as I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and my hands ache.

He puts my toothpaste on my toothbrush.

MissHobart · 19/02/2014 22:11

he puts up with me and my mental ways! Grin

And tells me he loves me more than once every day! I couldn't list everything to be fair, he is amazing! I do reciprocate though! Grin

WeGotAnnie · 19/02/2014 22:12

Yep, he brings me tea in bed every morning without fail. Alarm goes off, he gets up and I snooze it for 10 mins. He wakes me up with tea. Its one of the loveliest bits of my day Grin
