The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Wading Through Winter Blues Without The Booze!

I'm Mouse, nice to meet YOU. Smile

This is a thread for those who want to give up drink completely, or are maybe thinking about doing controlled drinking, or cutting down slowly, it's all up to you. And of course all addictions, so if you are taking drugs of any kind, prescription or otherwise, you're very welcome here too!

You know your limits, you know what is required, it's all in YOUR hands.

Whatever your goal, you'll find unconditional support here. Always. :)

There will be talk of drinking quite often and those who fall off the Bus will post about it, so if that is going to jeopardise your chances of complete sobriety, then maybe the DRY threads would suit you better, as they are complete abstainers, but EVERYONE IS WELCOME HERE :)

There are two sayings that we rather like here -

    • The Vulnerable Need Our Support, Not Our Judgement
    • Alcohol Fosters Inertia

For those of you who'd like some history, here is the very first thread and the reason that we're all here now. FIRST EVER THREAD

And the most recent so you can work your way back through time IS JUST HERE

The Bus may be 'mythical', but the support is real, it is honest and it will help you to achieve what it is that YOU seek, as long as you are honest with us, but mostly, YOURSELF

Mouse xxx

Derek of the lovely hands IS going to the dinner-he is one of my guests. Sexy electrician is also going, he is also one of my guests. Its a black tie formal business dinner so will be black tie or kilt.
I don't know what's going to happen but I happen to have a room booked at the hotel and will be staying over. Cool design gu is also going - he once said I was a MILF. The possibliltites are endless. My triangle needs to be in tip top condition

lookingforhope · 09/03/2014 16:27

Trinity I smile so much when I see your posts - you have truly changed your life, and the lives of your dcs. Amazing woman x

venusandmars · 09/03/2014 19:34

ma last time I went to that sort of business dinner I was cornered for most of the evening by an accountant in a grey suit, and his 'white' shirt looked sort of grey too. As did his hair, his complexion, and his tongue (that horrid matted furry grey look Shock ). I noticed his socks were grey and I did wonder whether his underwear would be grey too.

I hasten to add that I only wondered about the colour of his underwear because it was less boring than listening him lecture me on how to file my receipts (err yes, I have been self-employed for ELEVEN years, you drip!).

Your evening sounds much better!

TrinityRhino · 09/03/2014 19:39

Im come and post about it if you want. Or try to do something else to take your mind off drink. Have you any in the house? You will be so glad tomorrow if you can just get through tonight x

Why haven't heard from you for ages, are you ok?

Imdoingthis · 09/03/2014 22:01

Thanks nuff x

lookingforhope · 09/03/2014 23:24

Keep going I'm, you are doing so well. You will get rid of him one day soon. Hope you are tucked up in bed nice and snug now - night night.

Wankbadger really upset me tonight - and spoiled the evening for the kids too. He is utterly fckng selfish, and I am sick of giving. I really want a drink, but all we have in is vodka, and no way am I going there. Off to make a final brew before bed

Goodnight to all lovely babes, wherever you are on your journey tonight

(PS who is driving Gerald atm???? Shock)

Imdoingthis · 10/03/2014 05:57

Good question hope Shock

lonnika · 10/03/2014 06:54

Morning - hope you ok I'm and looking :) - Sober again here yippee - why do I feel so tired though ?

KellyElly · 10/03/2014 09:19

Hello :) I have never been on this thread before but have decided to post as I am giving up alcohol until Easter and generally getting more healthy. I have always had a love hate relationship with alcohol - love it when I'm drinking it, hate myself the next day! Sometimes I can be controlled and have fun, other times I binge to block out past pains and current stresses and end up upset and depressed (lately this seems to be the case more frequently) and have decided enough is enough and it's time for a break!

Isindesidecar Thank you Smile

Imdoingthis · 10/03/2014 13:59

isinde sounds perfect lovely just what we need, fresh air and warm sun with a little breeze of course,
Day 3 is good going stock up well with treats honey? My dc have commented that I do buy a lot of treats for myself now, iv hid myself a diet coke for latterSmile

Everything in my life is piling so high I feel like I need a:
Nanny
Cook
Housekeeper
Therapist
Cleaner
Security guard
Police protection
Vet
Personal advisor
Bla bla bla then I'd be alright Grin

I read somewhere that if you stop drinking most of your other problems go away too eg, money weight loss etc
Maybe I need to learn to 'grow' some patience
Although the dc's Xmas money that I save all year has stayed in the savings account last week! Fist week since jan

obrigada · 10/03/2014 14:57

Jumping on board today as I am fed up drinking, have hangover today and it's just not worth it!
