The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Stepping Into Christmas With Sobriety On Their Minds.

Hello, tis me, Mouse Smile

This is a thread for those who are worried about their drinking habits, relationships with alcohol, and/or drugs.

Even if you think your intake has gone up more today than the last or this week than last, come and join us on Gerald, the amazing, always room for more, fully stocked with glorious treats and donned in his Christmas Decorations, Bus!

We are a supportive thread, full of very different posters, from various backgrounds. Some of us drink in moderation, allowing ourselves the odd glass or two as a treat, or just because we're in control of our drinking for that day.

One Day At A Time.

We have those who abstain completely, and those who wake every day to Day 1 and hope with all of their hearts that they can, and will, make it to Day 2.

If you've followed our journey to date, you'll know who most of us are by now smile and we kind of have two 'sayings', that sum up who we are -

    • The Vulnerable Need Our Support, Not Our Judgement
    • Alcohol Fosters Inertia

That said, we will not have any bashing of support groups, such as AA or Community Addiction Support Teams, or even other support threads, posts like that will be reported if the need arises, so 'Orange Paper supporters' don't waste your time please :)

This Bus is a place for honesty, sanctuary and safety, something that has taken almost four years for a number of very special, very lovely, very honest and caring Babes to establish.

So, come find a seat, grab something warm from the supply cupboard at the back of the Bus, it's filled with (non alcoholic or narcotic) delicious, luxury treats and HUGE fluffy quilts, plus anything else you might need to help YOU get through YOUR day a minute, or an hour at a time.

And, if you'd like to see where this all began - This Is The Reason We're All Here, The Original JWN Thread

And This Is Our Previous Thread, With Links To Those Over The Past Few Years

We hope to meet you soon :) x

We have too many 'duvet days' and I am worried about the boss...

Well I think although I only had a couple of glasses of wine, it DID have an effect, because whenever I've been drinking I always stay up too late. Maybe if I'd gone to bed at a reasonable hour, I'd have got enough sleep - despite the baby bawling next-door.

I have insomnia anyway, but alcohol doesn't help! I'm really going to have to work harder on sleeping properly - and did I nearly forget that tiredness triggers sleep terrors! Me and the neighbours will set each other off - my screaming will wake the baby - and then it's crying will keep me awake Smile

Could you make Fridays a special evening with dd, doing something that she enjoys provided that she makes it into school every day, even if she's feeling a bit under the weather?

What about the cinema or going out for a swim followed by a pizza?

Hope you get a better rest tonight Sweetie and feel a bit better about it all tomorrow x

SocFish · 18/11/2013 21:46

OMG. Romance on the bus. ma I bags being bridesmaid…we’ll have green opal fruits and a symphony of triangles.

mouse hope all is ok with you. xx

Sorry rural that’s tough. And trying to give up alcohol during stress is difficult.

mama day 4 is awesome. I reckon day 3 and 4 are the hardest. And all the others too. Smile. But it does seem to get easier with each AF day.

I’m who are these ‘wise’ people you talk of?

Hello kwitter welcome. I’m off to read your other thread. Stay with us. The babes on this bus rock and it’s been an enormous help to me.

Hello faire sweetie annie ladamed beaches hope mouse isindie venus spanna why and all other lovely babes. Hope you’re all doing well regardless of whether the ww gets you or not. Eventually she will die.

isindie come back. we miss you

Today is day 6 for me. I have no intention of drinking today. I’ve drunk twice this month and considering how much I’ve been drinking for the past 25 years I am amazed. If I can do it anyone can. I think I’m managing this time because this year my life has become slightly easier than it ever has been before. It’s been incredibly stressful at times and wine has always been my way of coping. Now I don’t really have much of an excuse to drink anymore. It’s great. My intention is to be teetotal. I can’t NOT drink so I just won’t drink.

Stay strong babes. We can do this. xxxxx

isinde I remember him, he does sound like a twat! Is it cold enough there that he could possibly wander drunkenly outside and fall or get pushed into a snowdrift...? I hear that statistically, drunk obnoxious men are the most likely to die of hypothermia.

And you can't argue with statistics can you? Grin

When life is like a relentless beating, as mine currently is, sometimes the only thing to do is buy your own weight in chocolate and crisps and sit in.

SocFish · 19/11/2013 04:15

Oh big hugs i'm and why. It's not easy. Chocolate is good.....

Early morning check in - off to a breakfast meeting so about to take on some very icy looking roads!
why don't let them break you. Your baby boy is waiting for you to come through and you will
Loved the updatesnfrom Sweden indie and hope it goes well today. You are so right about my (over) reaction to a kind word from chap. Feel a bit silly really, but given dhs tantrum last night about there not being any bin bags Confused I am tempted to take mystery man up on his offer to meet for coffee before the event on Wednesday as he will be " in the area".

Did I mention that bit?
Have a good day ya all......

lookingforhope · 19/11/2013 07:49

Hello lovely babes. Thanks for all the supportive messages from wise babes and hello and welcome newbies (which I also am). Rushing out to work now, but day 1 over. Will post properly tonight and name check you all - and maybe bring some mince pies? Or do I have to wait till December for mince pies (come on, Gerald already looks like a mobile Santa grotto!)

Fairenuff · 19/11/2013 08:10

Ma he will be 'in the area'? Why does everything you say sound so filthy Grin

Ooooh mince pies, yes please x
