The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Stepping Into Christmas With Sobriety On Their Minds.

Hello, tis me, Mouse Smile

This is a thread for those who are worried about their drinking habits, relationships with alcohol, and/or drugs.

Even if you think your intake has gone up more today than the last or this week than last, come and join us on Gerald, the amazing, always room for more, fully stocked with glorious treats and donned in his Christmas Decorations, Bus!

We are a supportive thread, full of very different posters, from various backgrounds. Some of us drink in moderation, allowing ourselves the odd glass or two as a treat, or just because we're in control of our drinking for that day.

One Day At A Time.

We have those who abstain completely, and those who wake every day to Day 1 and hope with all of their hearts that they can, and will, make it to Day 2.

If you've followed our journey to date, you'll know who most of us are by now smile and we kind of have two 'sayings', that sum up who we are -

    • The Vulnerable Need Our Support, Not Our Judgement
    • Alcohol Fosters Inertia

That said, we will not have any bashing of support groups, such as AA or Community Addiction Support Teams, or even other support threads, posts like that will be reported if the need arises, so 'Orange Paper supporters' don't waste your time please :)

This Bus is a place for honesty, sanctuary and safety, something that has taken almost four years for a number of very special, very lovely, very honest and caring Babes to establish.

So, come find a seat, grab something warm from the supply cupboard at the back of the Bus, it's filled with (non alcoholic or narcotic) delicious, luxury treats and HUGE fluffy quilts, plus anything else you might need to help YOU get through YOUR day a minute, or an hour at a time.

And, if you'd like to see where this all began - This Is The Reason We're All Here, The Original JWN Thread

And This Is Our Previous Thread, With Links To Those Over The Past Few Years

We hope to meet you soon :) x

beaches - my log burner (again not a euphemism!) is nice and toasty, the WW can take a trip into there? Like the Witch in Hansel and Gretel. Grin

We too have a wood store, we had the good fortune of having a tree cut down (MIL) so will never have to buy wood for the burner for the foreseeable!! Everytime they come up, they pack the boot of the car and vice versa! It was a HUGE ash tree! Lush.

Soc - I'm guessing that you're asleep now, or due to get up for work soon? My head's not great with time differences, but I bet the fact that you'll wake sober and with the WW firmly drowned in that pool must feel fab, xxx

Hang on in there Spanna - you can do this, you can! You've done great so far today, don't undo all of that hard work and torture. You are stronger than you give yourself credit for.... we know that, you wouldn't be here otherwise.

Is IsinDe hiding or busy today? Not seen her post today, or I've missed it if so.

Roast beef is in the oven, all the trimmings, yorkshire pud and veg, I'm hoping to eat some of the beef and veg, can't have the yorkshires because of the flour......

What's everyone else having or had? :)

Yes good idea Beaches throw her onto a lovely burning fire Grin

I'm still in my PJs so that I have to 'think' about going down to the shop for vino. Even thought of phoning my neighbour to see what she's up to (she usually has a bottle in her fridge) Blush

nothing lovely in the fridge either - can't go to the shop will be too temped Hmm

Rural how you doing babe?

Anne don't think I'd be able to resist the bottle in the fridge - stay strong Smile

spanna41 · 17/11/2013 17:12

Mouse thank you for the Ash, I've popped it beside my bed, will whack her over the bonce if she approaches.

I've been fantasising about green opal fruits for the last half and hour. I'll be rushing to the shops to stock up first thing in the morning Smile

Welcome Fliss come aboard, someone will be round with a ticket soon Grin hang on in there babe.

Mouse dinner sounds lovely. I hope you're able to eat it, what is it you say, one minute at a time, or one second at a time x

Anneisnotmyname · 17/11/2013 17:14

X posted with you mouse, hope your mum is ok xx

Faire it makes a lot of sense what you say. Years ago when I barely drank I ate loads of chocolates. Last year I was congratulating myself that in recent years I'd got over my chocolate addition. It was only when I started reading these threads that I realised I was probably getting the sugar from the wine I was drinking. I don't want to go back to stuffing myself with chocolate but l don't want to drink the way I was either....hopefully there is a way to get some balance.

Beaches there was probably no chance I'd have the whole bottle - I'm a short arse and at my worse I can't manage that. Well not without finishing the night with my head down the toilet and writing off the next day. I was worried I'd have more than I planned to once I started as that is usually what happens. Once I feel the effects I want to keep going.....funnily enough my dad was a big drinker too. Every trip out involved my parents wanting to stop off at a pub. As a child I hated pubs, still not keen, and drinking, even then I could see the hold it had on them :(

venusandmars · 17/11/2013 18:53

ma Shock

venusandmars · 17/11/2013 18:58

isindie I also suffer from sinus problems if I get a cold (once you get scar tissue in your sinuses, it's bugger....) and I also had a airplane trip with a sinus cold. Got off the plane and bizarrely I couldn't hear a damn thing, nothing at all. The problem was that the meeting was with a group of blind people. They couldn't see me, and I couldn't hear them. It wasn't the most effective use of anyone's time.

Mamabear74 · 17/11/2013 19:05

Hi all! mouse, you are amazing cooking a big roast for your family after the shock of your mum being taken to hospital. Like everyone here I hope she gets better and stronger in hospital.
anne very impressed with your strength last night, the only times I've ever poured wine back in the bottle is when I've poured too much from the 2nd or 3rd! If you really don't want to be tempted tonight, could you put the rest in the garage or loft?
i'm, beaches, ma, isinde, spanna, faire, looking, venus how are you all doing tonight? WW hasn't made a peep for me (yet), I even bought one of those tiny bottles (red, not my drink of choice anyway) for my moussaka earlier. There is a mouthful or 2 for DP to have with dinner which is all he usually has anyway!
Welcome fliss! Good luck for your af week. I'm only on day 3 here (so far the most I've done is 4 days but hoping to beat my personal best this week!).
Check you later lovely babes!

Hi Mama Day 3well done babe Grin

Struggling tonight Sad Never realised how many portrayals of wine and other booze there is on the tv - urgh Blush - still resisting but she is lurking

Isinde Chocolate works well as a distraction, thanks babe Smile

Fliss thanks for the green one, yummy. Good distraction, still holding onto the bus seat.

Thanks lovely Brave Babes you are all wonderful x

beachestoexplore · 17/11/2013 19:33

Impressive ladies, mouse for being able to resist a Yorkshire pudding, mama for sharing your kitchen with a little bottle of open red, venus for making me laugh about the blind/deaf incident, Spanna for still being in pyjamas, fliss for joining the madness,Ma for doggedly trying to control the elusive green opal fruits, isinde for also making me laugh about the building society opening offers and anne for beating her chocolate 'addition' Grin

I have always suffered sinus problems and for me flying involves ibruprofen, nasal sprays and sweets. Hate the pressure behind the eye feeling. Hope your floating about with a wafty hanky helps sort you out isinde

anne most of our childhood outings managed to involve a pub, even the beach was chosen on the merits of having a beach bar. I don't like them much now either.

Imdoingthis · 17/11/2013 19:34

Just need to have more and more of them!

beachestoexplore · 17/11/2013 19:47
