The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Driving Through The Autumn Scenes, Searching For Our Sober Dreams.

1000 replies

Mouseface · 27/09/2013 12:49

Hello, I'm Mouse :) Welcome to the Bus, (aka Gerald Grin ).

I'm one of the Brave Babes on board this fabulous Bus of travellers, all in search of their sobriety in one form or another.

We have those who drink in moderation, those who have a set pattern of days on and off the booze, and we have posters who have been sober for minutes, hours, days, weeks, months or years.

There are two lines that the Bus has painted down the side, one on each -

The Vulnerable Need Our Support, Not Our Judgement and Alcohol Fosters Inertia

So, if you think you're drinking too much or you're worried about another person, then come find a seat.

We get through our days chatting about all sorts of things, life is, after all, full of plenty of things to fuel our desire to drink, and we're all very different people Grin

However, our common goal is sobriety. :)

Hi babes, I love the vibe on this bus, I'm proper proud to be riding (poor word choice there, if only), I can't NC as I'm on my own with dd 2 and she's a wild one, just loving the sisterhood and why you are a hero among babes, infact your all heroes to me, especially those with food!!!! Xxxxx

Rubyredlips · 18/10/2013 14:52

Looking forward to our trip to France and the cornichons Grin. I feel like sht, look like sht, stomach non stop rumbling and I want to go to sleep Confused.

Baby you're a hero and inspiration to me

babyjane1 · 18/10/2013 15:42

Mwah ruby I'm touched, that was a lovely thing to say, have you discovered groupon, wowcha and amazon local? I'm finding lots of great wee cheap local deals for facials, massages, nail and hair appointments. I think it's very important to treat ourselves and use "pampering" as a reward instead of wine, these sites offer all types of nice treats at a fraction if the normal price. I know it's not always possible to get out but even a face pack at home or a new scented candle, we need to value ourselves more and If you think you can't afford it, an average bottle of wine each night of the week and a bit extra at weekends would set us back £200 a month without the cigs and junk food most of us resort to while pissed. ruby I'm just responding to your post cos I also look and feel like shit, I sadly worked out the other day that my 3 year old's bear factory outfits cost more than some of mine, a bloody stuffed bear, I reckon a bit of pampering will give us all a boost!!!!! I am better than a bear!!! (Wander off mumbling the words of bare necessities scratching my armpit) xxxx

typhoontanya · 18/10/2013 16:11

Am with you on the pampering bit Baby, I got my nails done on Wednesday and my hair cut last week. For most people that wouldn't be considered pampering Blush, they would consider it a necessity. To give you some indication of how seldom I pamper myself, one of my daughters commented when she seen my nails "oh mammy you are turning into a girl"!

typhoontanya · 18/10/2013 16:26

Just to add to above, said daughter is 21 Grin

babyjane1 · 18/10/2013 16:56

typhoon least your a girl, seems I'm not even a bear!!! X

Scarynuff · 18/10/2013 18:35

Hi babes

I can't believe no-one else spotted Im's typo: but a hot coc didn't have the same appeal Grin

Proper rofling here Grin Grin (is that even a word?)

Loving the Liverpool trip Isinde. I went on the big wheel last time I was there and dragged my children around the museums. There was a slavery exhibition and the art galleries are fab! And free!!! Great place to visit Smile

Mind you, my gps are from Speke and I have many fond memories of afternoons at Sefton Park (Sefffie Park - have I remembered it right?). Aaah, rolling down the grass banks without a care in the world...

thurso13 · 18/10/2013 18:41

Good evening all,

I've just got home from work, Dh out tonight, and so I have the shabbiest, comfortable outfit on (obviously always wear high heels and an apron on the other nights ;) Grin ).

Baby thank you for your post the other night, you are right, my world has changed in quite a big way, funnily the qualification hasn't got to me so much, because it's been a disaster waiting to happen since last October. But, my new job is taking every ounce of strength, and I'm digging deep in the (admittedly pitifull) amount of knowledge I have to try to make my team come into the real world, instead of the "comfort zone". I like to do that as much as anyone, but, when there are children who find learning quite hard enough already, involved, one just has to try and understand their world, as they live it. Not an awful lot of help saying "well, I didn't have a mobile phone, and it never hurt me!!!".

Oh crikey, I've started sermonising! Blush

Anyway, I've decided to tackle all the "jobs" tonight, so that I can "Ah, the weekend" tomorrow morning, so, just off to unload the dishwasher, and do the ironing.

Much love
T xxx

ps Isinde It's rotten on the seafront tonight, misty, blowing a gale and it was the same this morning, nice in between, so I've heard Smile.
xxxxx

Scarynuff · 18/10/2013 18:53

Thurso I would love to be on a seafront. Even in a gale. Sometimes especially in a gale. I grew up next to a seafront and really miss it. I envy beaches, would love to hear more about the land around you.

I love seafronts and open fires and miss them both Sad

My two dcs were toasting marshmallows over the gas cooker this evening Grin

thurso13 · 18/10/2013 18:54

Ps I've just put the ironing board up, and was thinking about my post.
Please don't think that I am the new employee from Hell, at the moment I agree with everyone, and just try to mention some things.
I am just finding it hard, that some people, even in the team, are so officious, that they can't see the neediness behind the behaviour.
I'll grow a thicker skin!!!

dementedma · 18/10/2013 18:55

Collects passports for trip to France. Moi, j'adore La France....I won't be coming back....

Dh was followed by police in Liverpool today and then pulled over. Apparently it was a spot check. They has run his car reg through a check, found it was registered in Scotland and wanted to know what he was doing in Liverpool! Welcoming or what! Shame on you scouse bizzies. Dh, as a born and bred scouser from Bootle was not amused.

GladToBeSilver · 18/10/2013 19:01

still here, still sober, still reading Grin

beachestoexplore · 18/10/2013 19:24

Faire the land around me is BIG and full of trees. At the moment we have every colour between yellow and red, the skies are blue a lot of the time, there is a definite chill in the air now although we still have some hardcore mosquito's early in the morning. It is wood burning season, logging trucks shifting wood and people getting their supplies in. Deer, skunks and raccoons around the place and crazy little chipmunks! It's beautiful if you like a big dose of Mother Nature Smile

PS I did double take on the hot coc but choose to leave it for someone else's smutty mind!!

beachestoexplore · 18/10/2013 20:04

Blush well you did ask.... now I am embarrassed that I have waffled on!

Anyway as it is Friday, which is often the toughest day to resist the wine witch I think focusing on the guilt free wake up and holding onto the NO regrets thoughts are my biggest helpers. Good luck to all babes fighting the fight tonight. Xx

Imdoingthis · 18/10/2013 20:20

I really wish I had some hot coc in my life sigh....

beachestoexplore · 18/10/2013 20:40
Grin
Scarynuff · 18/10/2013 20:50

I'm Grin

Beaches I want to be there. Dh and I hired a camper van and toured the Canadian rockies (before dcs). We met a lot of those friendly little chipmonks and some of the deer too. Even met a bear when we were out hiking, but that frightened the life out of me!

thurso13 · 18/10/2013 20:53

beaches that sounds wonderful! Ds2 was in Rhode Island for 3 months last year, is that where you are?

I am a bit ignorant with regard to Geography, I know my BIL lives in NZ and they are opposite to us, but otherwise, when the children go away, I do it it on Time/clock.com.

Personally, I really don't want any hot coc tonight Grin, especially after Dh has had a night out with the boys!

Sleep tight everyone
Sending you love
T xxxx

Consils · 18/10/2013 23:50

Silver, would you give us a quick post to establish that Jonathan Chick did not give you antabuse. Just to clear that one up.
