The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Off To Find The Summer Sun and Sobriety!

Mouseface · 05/08/2013 22:38

Hello, I'm Mouse :)

Welcome to the Bus, take a seat and enjoy the ride. We're a Bus full of drinkers, non-drinkers, those who are trying to give up for life, those who are giving up for a few hours because that's all that they can manage (which is fine!) or quitting just for today......

We don't wear Judgey Pants (they're far too last year darhling Wink) but we have hugs a plenty and tough love when it's needed. Which isn't often!

So, what have you got to lose? If you're reading this, you're thinking that you are no longer happy with the way you drink, which tells me that this is the Bus for you. :)

If you'd like to see where we've been so far and what we've been up to, take a peek HERE

And if you want to knnow why we're here in the first place, take a look at THIS THREAD RIGHT HERE :)

See you soon x

Wow lonnika fantastic :)

babyjane1 · 17/08/2013 09:53

lon you are an inspiration to all us, tell us how you feel, has your skin improved? Your mood? These are part of my motivation. On day 5 and it's pouring, being stuck in and bored is dangerous for me so we will head our somewhere very cheap!!! First sober Friday in a very long time, lots of tension at home last night and didnt drink so that's a huge progression for me, have a great day my lovelies x x x x

Greeneyed · 17/08/2013 10:34

Morning all! annie have you tried first cape light? I had a friend over for dinner the other week and had a bottle of tgat over the evening at the same pace I'd normally drink wine. Didn't feel like I was missing out and it is only 4 units so similar to a couple of glasses. Certainly felt much better in the morning than I would have done after a whole bottle of white.

lon thank you for keeping us updated with your success. You sound so happy :)

Greeneyed · 17/08/2013 10:35

annie can you find a recipe that uses white wine and use it in that if you can't face chucking it away?

Fairenuff · 17/08/2013 10:40

Just chuck it away annie. Do it now.

Chuck it down the sink, chuck it down the sink, chuck it down the sink

Greeney there's another low alcohol white wine called JP Chenet I think. It's 5.5% and is ok with soda water. I sometimes have a little of that if I fancy something fizzy when others are drinking champagne type drinks.

lonnika · 17/08/2013 10:58

Baby - I feel great :). Mood better, far less anxious. Skin better - look younger. Honestly the best thing I have ever done :)

Pink01 · 17/08/2013 11:00

Morning babes Smile

So nice to have a clear head this morning. When I feel like this I wonder why I ever drink.

Lonnie, well done my friend. You inspire me and make me want to better my own efforts. I am in awe especially doing your holiday without alcohol, that was too much for me as you know. You rock.

Annie at least it was only one glass. I have never really tried low alcohol wine, but I do like a Becks Blue with lemonade which is nearly the same as a lager.

Morning Faire, Green and all other babes. Happy Saturday to you all.

Pink X

Hi guys, this may sound vain and petty but whilst I'm thrilled about my 5 days off booze, I'm eating like a horse, I know your all thinking, much lesser evil but my weight is a BIG factor in my depression and lack if confidence so it needs to be addressed, I'm at least 2 stone overweight and as a 42 year old with a very lively (wild) 2 year old dd I feel it's important to be a fit as I can ( crohn's permitting) I gave this concept that the better physical shape I'm in the more strength mental and physical I can throw at my illness and the wine witch. I'm going to start slimming world properly next week and anyone wanting to share their weight woes with me, I need a buddy. I know it's jumping problems but I don't want to be sober and fatter cos it may lead me back to the booze,

Fairenuff · 17/08/2013 13:31

I'm going to start with the weight loss when the schools go back on 4th September. I will aim to do 3 months of healthy eating and more regular exercise - September, October, November.

I will ease up in December and then get back into another three months - January, February, March. I will have a break again round about easter time.

Then I do another three months - May, June, July and have August off. I always do this. It fits in with school holidays when all my routines go to pot but I soon get back into it.

If anyone wants a buddy starting in about two and a half weeks, I'm up for it. In the meantime, I'm cheerleading the rest of you.

Even if I only lose 1lb a week, this time next year I could be over three stone lighter. Sounds manageable doesn't it Smile

PurpleWolfe · 17/08/2013 14:37

Me! Me! Pick me Faire, please! Can't be disciplined without the routine of school etc.

.

Ain't doing so well atm. Got 3 days under my belt then saw the patio area of Cafe Rouge whilst out shopping with the boys. Lovely sunny day, holiday mood, ordered wine! Fuck! Actually had a lovely hour or so. Boys were lovely - played Scribbles. Nice memory. Shame about the wine. Sad

babyjane1 · 17/08/2013 15:23

Aw purple that sounds lovely, I think that's the way wine is supposed to be enjoyed so please don't stress about it, it sounds like you had a controlled and enjoyable encounter with wine. Nought wrong with that, so good to hear from you x x x x x

PurpleWolfe · 17/08/2013 15:49

Thank you lovely Baby but that one glass escalated into a bottle on the way home.........and more. If only I could leave it at one glass. xxx

dementedma · 17/08/2013 16:27

I'll buddy up on the weight loss. Going to start properly with this paeleo thingy after I get paid but am easing myself in to it. Had a huge bowl of salad at lunchtime which was very nice but I'm HUNGRY now. How do low varbers stave off the hunger pangs? Am frantically sorting out old documents for shredding - we have bills and statements going back decades - to keep away from the wine witch and her friend the hunger hag.

Greeneyed · 17/08/2013 16:50

ma did you have some protein and far in your salad? You need that to stave off hunger.

Whatevermaybe · 17/08/2013 16:50

Hi everyone, well I'm back to day 1 again! Never drank wine had bud thinking I won't get pissed but I did. Going out for a family meal tonight but will be sticking to diet coke. Pissed off with myself but as DP was drinking I joined him. Anyway enough about me me me. Hope everyone is have a good weekend Smile x

Greeneyed · 17/08/2013 16:51

Getting the ratios right takes some getting used to but will stop you getting hungry

Greeneyed · 17/08/2013 16:51

purps 3 days is good, keep on keeping on xx

Greeneyed · 17/08/2013 16:52

*fat

Whatevermaybe · 17/08/2013 16:53

That's a good name, hunger hag Grin

Anneisnotmyname · 17/08/2013 17:22

Well having an open bottle of wine in the fridge has taught me one thing - it's a trigger in itself. Honestly it's been like a siren calling...the amount of times I've thought 'oh I could just have a small glass' has been unbelievable, more so as I don't drink during the day. Seriously, the past week I've had my days planned and no wine in the house and I have not considered drinking (have lager there so could have). As soon as the bottle is there and open I'm thinking of it Hmm

dementedma · 17/08/2013 18:03

Do you have a link to some good recipes green? Ones that don't require weird ingredients or vast amounts of faffing about?
So, have I got this right - fat is OK, grains and carbs are bad?

jango36 · 17/08/2013 19:47

Hi babes. Still quietly lurking. Been a crap few days so of course have weakend the wine witch has been battering the crap out of me.
I am so fed up of myself. Life is always going to have ups and downs so why cant I just get on with it. I have got lot on my plate but havent we all.
Can go for quite soon time without alcohol but then bang seems like bingeing is my downfall. How pathetic eh?
I need to kick this thing into touch! and then sort problems out. ie shitty relationship :((
Hi ma, purps, annie, mouse, lonnika, joey, indie and all others.
Lonnika you are an inspiration.
Purps what is Scribbles? lol

Fairenuff · 17/08/2013 19:57

Ok Purps, you're in. Anyone else welcome to join too. Ma I think veg soup is good for a quick hunger fix. Very low on carbs and calories but instantly filling.

Hi Jango, stick with it, those habits will change eventually.

dementedma · 17/08/2013 20:03

Are pulses allowed? And should yoghurt be full fat or low fat?
