The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Posters, Lurkers, Old Or New, Come Take A Seat, This Bus Is For YOU!

Hello, I'm Mouse Smile

A huge big welcome to the Brave Babes threads.

We're a varied group of posters, on this wonderfully supportive, non judgemental, gigantic Bus, and we are all heading in the same direction - towards Sobriety.

Some of us don't touch a drop of alcohol, some of us do. Some of us drink too much, openly admit it and are desperate to stop and some of us are trying to manage controlled drinking.

No matter what we're doing, we're just trying to do it One Day At A Time.

What ever you need, what ever your habit, chances are that there'll be another poster who is just like you or has been where you are now, already here, waiting to talk or just listen :)

Yes, some of us have been here for a longer time than others, some of us for just a few days but that's what makes this Bus so great imo, the variety of knowledge and understanding :)

This Bus has been whizzing along various roads now for almost four years thanks to the very desperate cry for help from THIS THREAD BY JWN

And if you'd like to read some of the other threads, maybe how we got to where we are today, then you can follow them back using the links RIGHT HERE

Hope to see you soon :)

babyjane1 · 20/06/2013 23:33

faire great post, poignant and very true. rox when I first decided to cut back I changed my evening routine, when emmerdale was due on (theme tune was opening time at my bar/fridge so I took dog or baby or both out for a walk with upbeat music on my iPod, I tried to imagine cleansing my body of toxins so drank lots of water and ate well. Each night is choose a mini treat for myself, fake tan, paint toe nails then into bed to read or watch tv (quite good to remember the end of a programme) I save £5 a day and weekly get a facial, or buy new foundation,or get hair blow dryed, this may sound like I'm loaded but it's cost less than the wine did!!!! To both you and tio I will say you need to put the past behind you can't change the bad memories of what you done but you can create new ones, especially with kids. Get some sweet treats in (your body craves the sugar you get from wine) berocca, multivitamins and b vitamin complex is very good at lift your mood and mending your body. Just one day at a time and soon your body and mind feells better. I can't imagine never drinking again so I only think as far as tomorrow. Post here when you want company and support the generosity of these lovely ladies still blows me away, hope this helps. Good luck mouse your amazing, purple please come back, we need you. Love to all our super duper babes x x x

JWIM · 21/06/2013 09:44

jango36 · 21/06/2013 11:11

Hi babes:)
Day seven here!
Blimey it's been a while since I could claim that. I'm feeling positive, vibrant and full of energy. I'm thinking about stuff I wouldn't normally..
Of course the weekend remains my real challenge! Not helped by oh who will be indulging.
Going to give it my best shot though.
Sounds weird but my head actually feels lighter as if a fog has lifted.
Any ideas for drinks I could buy to distract me from wine witch? I like cooking so will busy self tomorrow doing that.
Wishing all babes wherever they are a good weekend xx

babyjane1 · 21/06/2013 12:08

Hi everyone,Smile
Creeping back on the bus today.
Trying for day 1.
Have been trying for day 1 for a few weeks alone and not got there yet.
Well done to those resisting the wine witch.
RL has been difficult and haven't kept up with the thread.
Hoping to be posting regularly and will try to read back over time.
Think only mouse knows that my son was diagnosed with cancer at beginning of the year.
Its been a hard time with much hard drinking on my part.
However he was given the all clear last week.
So relieved Smile.
Love to all,
Catch you later, wine witch due about 3pm these days.

venusandmars · 21/06/2013 14:18

What a tough time, and so easy to take refuge in a bottle of wine. Glad to hear that things have turned out ok for him Smile

obrigada · 21/06/2013 14:29

Oh Rural, you must be so relieved. What a nightmare it must have been for you and your family.

thurso13 · 21/06/2013 14:48

Rural What an incredibly hard time for you, and your family. I am so happy that your son has been given the all clear.
xxxxxx

jango36 · 21/06/2013 15:04

Rural What an awful time you have had of it of late. Think most of us would have given up the ghost with the wine witch.
Glad your back on board the bus. Think you must have left bus before I clambered aboard. Newbie here :))

Mouseface · 21/06/2013 15:23

Afternoon, tis me, Mouse

Rural - my sponsor hobble was for children with cancer as well as the Woolly Hugs MNers. I thought of him, your darling DS today (just finished my hobble- am very very tired and extremely sore but it was worth every penny if it means one child suffers less for even a minute) and how he was.

That post ^ saying he has got the all clear has brought tears to my eyes. I have the names of children who have lost children on my shirt as I hobbled today and I am so very pleased that your darling DS is not one of them!

A fighter! A survivor! Well, bloomin good on him for kicking the shit out of cancer. Please give him a massive squidge from me, your news has made my day xxx

Mouseface · 21/06/2013 15:27

Hey Thurso :) - great to see you back lovely.

Well, as you've just read, I managed my sponsored hobble. I could actually fall asleep but won't because I have a small boy to care for. He did a half day at Big School today so is shattered now, almost as much as me.

I'm going to pop some pics on my profile in a bit.

Sorry not to name check everyone. Hopefully, be back later,

Mouse xxx

thurso13 · 21/06/2013 15:57

Hey Mouse xxx

I'm doing a midnight 7 mile walk tomorrow for the local hospice, it's set to be wild and windy, with the wind against us on the walk back!

I've got lots of balls in the air at the moment with one thing and another, but, I do try to catch up as often as I can.
I don't see me ever leaving this bus, it completely keeps me anchored in where I want to be, more than anything else.

Sorry for not poosting so much lately, any advice I have is put much better by others, and I do nod in agreement and empathy so many times.

Much love
xxxx

thurso13 · 21/06/2013 15:58

"poosting" ?! Must be the South Coast accent Grin

ruralreynard · 21/06/2013 17:30

Wow Im overwhelmed and grateful for all your messages Thanks
Sorry not to name check everyone. Feeling a bit jittery, the wine witch is with me in force.
Big wave to new babe jango (well new to me anyway).
Will have to read back, so many new babes since I was posting regularly last year.
So good to be back on the bus.
Really have been hitting the wine this last few months, probably why getting through a day one seems harder than ever.
Keep going everyone not drinking today xx
