Just thought I'd start a new thread, general chit chat, moaning, skipping etc before I go to work and incase the other one fills up.

Where did you do that!

I'm working tomorrow. Kitchen fund.

Chocolate and wine tonight

Cabbageleaves · 15/06/2013 22:24

I walked so the choc is mitigated. Black cherry cider? Never heard of it. Sounds erm...different.

I get shin splints wearing flip flops or any shoe without a heel strap

LittleEsme · 15/06/2013 22:38

Evenin' all.
I've given up on lesson planning and sorting out my folder. I have a lesson observation this thursday where everything has to be scrutinised and I Have Officially Given Up. Seems a little dramatic, but I'll say it anyway:
I don't think I have anything left to give. I'm all out of inspiration and enthusiasm then again, I have just drank a rather large gin so maybe I can blame that
DD1 did a triathlon this morning, so I went to support her. It was squally weather so I got a right soaking.
Tomorrow brings more work, help DD's with homework projects, laundry and a frantic look at lesson planning for this forthcoming observation.

Sorry for the whinge.

LittleEsme · 15/06/2013 22:39

Black cherry cider? WTF?!
I officially love flip flops. Even if I do walk like a pile-ridden duck.

LoserNoMore · 15/06/2013 22:57

I can't drink cider, bad memories when I was about 15 drinking it and throwing up all night.

I love flip flops! And pistachio nuts, I've eaten the whole bag

Probably should go to become

Bed*

OP posts:
imtheonlyone · 15/06/2013 23:44

Night all and night LNM - my bed beckons, I'm so tired!!!

I too have an aversion to cider from drinking far too much of the stuff as a teenager and being sick!!!! I can't believe how much I used to drink at such a young age! I never want my boys to discover alcohol!!!

Cabbageleaves · 16/06/2013 09:19

Morning. Work--->

JaxTellerIsAllMine · 16/06/2013 10:27

I think it is made by Bulmers - it is quite refreshing in hot, sun... HAHA, the irony of our summer is not lost on me. Grin

They also do a strawberry and lime one.

ah, LNM - I had the teenage merrydown experience too, couldnt drink for a looooooong time after that episode.

Quiet, chilled Sunday for us. Ive got some work to do, but am waiting for others to do 'stuff' before I can do my part. Drives me insane, I am not a very patient person. And I thought I had my part, but some eejit forgot to attach a file, which of course I need... Trying to get ahead but not going to happen.

  • think of the positive change you make in the lives of those you teach. Does that not inspire you?

And, whats happened to all the skipping??? Wink

LoserNoMore · 16/06/2013 10:50

Eww It was Merrydown that done that to me too. I remember one called Omega cider. Think it was £2 for a 2 litre bottle, vile.

Don't know what's happened with the skipping, it's not been mentioned for a while..

I'm bored today, don't know what to do. It's really cloudy.

OP posts:
swallowedAfly · 16/06/2013 11:40

my skipping rope is cluttering a kitchen drawer.

bored here too. loads of housework type shite to do but struggling to be arsed as ever.

was diamond white and K in my day.

lazarusb · 16/06/2013 12:22

Aah...cheap cider, the memories Hmm
My worst alcohol related incident involved Gin, Vodka and Guinness. I blame the Gin and haven't drunk it since. Mind you, I've had one too many Tequila related hangovers too...

Skipping not on my agenda lately largely because of my back which is flaring up again and also because I've been doing career focused work, CVs etc. Planning on starting my dissertation next week Shock Early bird and all that!

swallowedAfly · 16/06/2013 12:25

oh god i've had some tequila incidents! flashback hell.

JaxTellerIsAllMine · 16/06/2013 13:27

I steer very clear of Tequila as a 'grown up' I remember one night when out and it was late in the evening and someone decided it was Tequila Time... well, the rest of the night I was sick as a dog in the loos of the club and have never touched it since.

Oh and a green chartreuse night... I was green alright! Blush

Diamond white - bleurgh, but I remember Diamond blush not being as harsh. Still vile though.

Bored here too, I have popped to M&S, got tonights dinner organised, done 2 more laundry loads, power washed my patio furniture and a bit of the trampoline. (I love the power washer) Took the dog out for a long walk and now my back is sore too, so chilling on mn for a while. Sundays are a bit rubbish sometimes.

Might bake some scones just to see if I can get them light n fluffy or my usual crumbly stones. I can bake cakes all day long, but can never get my scones 'right'.

imtheonlyone · 16/06/2013 14:35

I'm baking today today - brownies for the boys for the week and a Victoria sponge for us Grin

Jax- my foolproof scone recipe:
225g sr flour
50g butter
40g caster sugar
120ml milk

Soft flour into bowl and rub in butter till breadcrumbs. Add sugar and mix well. Pour in enough milk to make a soft spongy dough. Not too dry. Knead briefly - do not over handle the dough
Cut at least 2cm thick scones baste with milk or beaten egg. Bake 180c (fan oven) for 8-12 mins till golden brown and well risen. Makes about 7 or 8 from this mixture.
Key is not to overwork dough and make sure thickness is at least 2cm! I've never had a bad scone with this recipe. Even added raisins etc!

LoserNoMore · 16/06/2013 15:21

Eeeek, dd's are away to spend the night with ex since its Father's Day. My snog from the other week has asked me out for a drink later. I've said yes Shock

OP posts:
swallowedAfly · 16/06/2013 15:57

good! go and enjoy yourself Smile oh and have a snog for me, can't think when i last had one.

imtheonlyone · 16/06/2013 16:00

Awwww - get showered, shaved, pick some clothes you feel good in and go out and have a GREAT time Grin and that's an order!!!

He knows you're not interested in anything serious but god knows you need something to smile about Wink.

Excited for you actually! Just have some fun and forget all the other shit for a few hours .

Have fun GrinGrinGrin

PyroclasticFlo · 16/06/2013 17:29

Ooh just catching up with everyone's news and very excited about your snog-date LNM! Have a great time.

I may pinch that scone recipe, I have an Aga with a mind of its own though so baking is always an, erm, experience. The phrase hit or miss springs to mind. Would love to be able to make decent scones!

Cabbageleaves · 16/06/2013 17:40

LNM - get in there! Treat him like an expendable mood boosting snog. If it goes somewhere, great...if it doesn't, great ! Be selfish.

I've done the work thing and got loads done. Without anyone else in the office and no phone going, I storm through stuff. Non pupil day tomorrow so I'm working at home (DD and two friends around) then DD off to the friends and into work.

LittleEsme · 16/06/2013 18:24

Bet I've missed LNM - you already gone? Darn it!

Wanted to add to the feeling if excitement on this thread about an impending snog. Lovely. Enjoy!

And avoid Cider.

And Gin.

First tine EVER I woke with the biggest down in the dumps after Gib. Been low all day and still not right.

Skipping?!? It's triathlon time ladies. Let's get training!!!

LoserNoMore · 16/06/2013 18:30

Just going, wish me luck. Going for dinner and drinks now. Omg,

OP posts:
ChipsNEggs · 16/06/2013 19:07

Wa hey! Good luck and have lots of fun. A night off from all the rubbish is just what you need.
