ooh SAF - I hope your family are HELPING you post surgery and not you running around for them...

cabbage cheeky mare! That is a long time. most people only expect an hour or so. And if she is just letting you know TODAY and fair is tomorrow, she is v disorganised.

LoserNoMore · 14/06/2013 17:26

Cabbage, she sounds like a joy! I always thought if be a PTA type mum but the selection of them at dd's school has me running for the hills!

Hope your visit to family wasn't too stressful, SAF and you're taking it easy too.

Jax, to answer your post from yesterday. He isn't normally at sports day so I didn't think for one minute he'd be there. Don't know why he suddenly appeared this year,?well I can take a guess.

Posting from phone so trying to read replied and post then go back a page, bloody awkward.

No plans for the weekend at all. Need to go into town for some shopping. Dd2 lost her shoes at school, yes lost them Confused at least there are only 2 weeks left of school. Need to pick her up some cheapies tomorrow.

OP posts:
Cabbageleaves · 14/06/2013 17:31

DD is starting at senior school in Sept and the PTA attended our induction evening. The woman was sooooooo nice and normal that I joined! I've always helped out but never ever wanted to be part of the clique at primary school.

JaxTellerIsAllMine · 14/06/2013 18:57

LNM - pick up a cheap pair at the supermarket, its not worth paying ££ for a couple of weeks. And chances are during the summer hols she will grow A Lot! if your girls are anything like my DD

Whats your friends doing this weekend? Any bbqs happening or chilled but nice things you and the girls can go to?

SAF I do hope the new boobs are doing well. (sorry, that sounds pervy Blush)

LittleEsme · 14/06/2013 20:53

Evenin' All.
I'm up to my eyebrows with work as we speak. The gin is calling and I have to ignore it.

LNM I'm hating the ex more and more. What a prize gobshite. He will not wear you down. He will not break you.

Make that tobelerone cheesecake.

swallowedAfly · 14/06/2013 21:55

new boobs doing ok. had my wound check today and stitches trimmed etc and got the all clear for having a shower. now just have to change the tape every three days myself. was most reassured to hear this is not how they will look in the end - bizarre unnatural looking things currently.

family was tolerable - no not helping post surgery - they know via ds that i was in hospital but haven't even asked what for or if i'm ok. my family are odd to put it politely.

lnm i would ask how a child can lose their shoes but i've already been through this after finding a pair of girls school shoes in my garden left by someone on the street playing with ds on the trampoline presumably but have never found out who. was baffled that someone could go home without shoes and not be sent to find/get them and no one i asked claimed them Confused

Cabbageleaves · 14/06/2013 22:47

Confused Family can be v odd! I've just watched the surgery on Embarassing Bodies and thought of you.

DD's shoes packed up 3 weeks ago and I had to buy new ones. It's her 3rd pair since Sept but I've stopped getting Clarks. Still £22 at M&S.

LittleEsme · 14/06/2013 23:26

I hate that Clarke's seem to have the monopoly on kids shoes. Angry

Dd2's feet are growing like a pair of flippers and daily wear never seem to wear her shoes out enough before she increases another size.

JaxTellerIsAllMine · 15/06/2013 06:56

Morning I'm up v early. Got a builder coming round at 8 so need to be organised. Lol

Family are odd. It's often like a group of the most odd people flung together who are supposed to get on. It doesn't always work but sometimes you get a kindred spirit. I've got oddballs in my family too

Happy Saturday everyone, going to be a long day for me I think. Brew

LittleEsme · 15/06/2013 07:17

I can smell your coffee brewing from here Jax. Is there enough for me? Smile

I'm still trying to sort out work files, bloody polypockets everywhere and my scheme of work needs sorting. DD's are going to have a weekend of tv and easy meals I think. Hmm

Cabbageleaves · 15/06/2013 07:40

Sunny here, for my 6 hours duty in the playground

I stopped buying Clarks because the DC had a few dodgy fittings and I decided that I could 'fit' as well as them once they were no longer little. This is a major part of their sales strategy isn't it? If you don't buy our shoes they won't fit and your little darlings feet will be destroyed forever. Once my little darling, hit teenage years and started only wearing cheap flat pumps or flip flops her feet were doomed anyway! It's still a major point of discussion between us. I have bought her expensive boots trying to get her wearing a heel, leather, waterproof and warm shoes...but still find her wearing canvas flat pumps all the time

swallowedAfly · 15/06/2013 09:07

i never worry about the fitting - i can do that. i never bought ds expensive shoes when he was little because they got hardly any wear anyway. i buy clarks because sadly they are the only school shoes that don't disintegrate within a few weeks being worn every day. sucks that the only way to get a pair of shoes fit for purpose is to spend a fortune. out of school ds wears mega cheap trainers and baseball boots. he is so hard on his shoes. hmm and his toys and my house and me - you should see the state of ME after 6 years usage! Grin

how are people's weekends looking? my house is a shit tip filled with laundry back log and i still don't really feel like doing lifting and loading and stuff but meant to be back at work tomorrow and going on holiday in less than three weeks so if i don't start on it it will spiral into something that needs a tv show and seven skips to sort out.

JaxTellerIsAllMine · 15/06/2013 10:14

Always plenty of fresh coffee in this house Esme, its my lifeline!

I have some laundry to do, actually I am on second load now, not sure what the weather is doing, out one window it is bright blue sky and wispy white clouds, out other side of the house it is dark grey sky. Weird! Think it might be a tumble dryer day.

DD got a birthday party later - its a bbq (outside) garden party, so hope it stays dry.

Builder has been, lots of ideas and I need a structural engineer for one part of work (removal of 2 x chimney breast) and some plans drawn up for second part of work - front porch and extension. Also need to make an appointment to have a chat with planning officer at council just to get a general idea if what we want to do will be allowed before we start shelling out money for experts. Oh and an en suite in our bedroom.

Patio in back garden coming along nicely. It looks lovely so far, should be finished Monday or Tuesday. Im so excited, by doing this building work it means we have bigger inside space, an extra bathroom and wont have to move house, which we have been considering.

We have lovely neighbours, live in a nice area, good schools - which the DC can walk to and from (bonus) although I walk/drive DD to primary. It is walkable but I dont want her walking or crossing the very busy main road. (A little boy in yr2 got run over last week!) Lovely views etc etc.

IT all makes sense not to move, but do some work. Lets hope planners are convinced!

Cabbageleaves · 15/06/2013 10:42

Exciting Jax! I'm saving money for a new kitchen. I can't wait for it to be finished but may need to take Valium or leave the country during...

That seems extremely early to be back at work SaF?

About to leave for school fete hell Weather is staying true to tradition. Forecast yesterday was sunny...getting sunnier throughout the afternoon. It's actually blowing a hoolie and chucking it down and getting worse. PITAPTAW will have plopped me into a playground stall. I know it

Cabbageleaves · 15/06/2013 10:43

LNM what is going on in your weekend today?

Cabbageleaves · 15/06/2013 10:43

That sentence is constructed badly!

lazarusb · 15/06/2013 11:20

I stopped buying Clarks when I ds's £38 pair didn't last 6 weeks. I took them back and got a refund and have bought cheap shoes that have lasted for a whole year since then! DS isn't the sort of boy who kicks the heck out of shoes, he's arty, chatty and a bit of a geek Smile

lazarusb · 15/06/2013 11:21

Hope you all have a good weekend, even Cabbage!

LoserNoMore · 15/06/2013 17:51

Hope you're all enjoying the weekend despite work, PTA crap and other stuff.

I've been into town, stocked up on food, flip flops and pistachio nuts just for me. Bit optimistic with flip flops but I can dream.

OP posts:
Cabbageleaves · 15/06/2013 18:37

Flip flops and pistachio nuts.. I think you've forgotten the bottle of wine and a single friend to go with that (says she, who is home alone with a curry for one and some cheese and Ryvita)

Fair wasn't too awful. I marched in and was shown to an isolated stall in the middle of a wind swept playground. Assertively I said, this will not work...and was found somewhere indoors and a sticker for my chest saying who the f* does she think she is . I may have imagined the last bit.

Anyway 20 minutes to opening, heavens open and chaos. Everyone has to come in. Very very few parent helpers present and it was mayhem. Doors open and I painted oodles of faces making nearly £100 for them on my own. I may have a new career. That was in 2 and a half hours

Helped clear up, take DD to her Dad and home to saw down a tree in the back garden. It's taken me 90 minutes to get down and saw off the smaller branches to load in the trailor. A day in the life of a single mother! I thought I'd make a bacon sarnie (all glamour here). Bacon gone off so I peered in freezer and found left over puddle of curry. Ryvita and cheese...wine and might walk the dog for an hour... Or might slump in front of tv ... I will sleep well!

What are you planning tomorrow LNM. Swim?

JaxTellerIsAllMine · 15/06/2013 19:43

wow cabbage you have been busy!

LNM - I love pistachio nuts, but hate peeling the shells off, so I keep them for a treat too. Grin

I have a bit of a flipfop fettish - according to DH. I do have a lot few pairs but in summer I live in them and they are so easy to pack for holidays too...

Todays weather report - sunny, hot and lovely...for half hour or so, then cloudy, rainy and blowing a hoolie couple of hours. Alternate both during day and you have my day!

Off to watch the Voice now... maybe with a wee black cherry cider.

LoserNoMore · 15/06/2013 20:47

No swimming tomorrow, can't be arsed and the pool is freezing!

Cabbage, single friend to go with that would be more than welcome if I was home alone.

100 quid for 2.5 hours work is brilliant.

Jax, I always eat far too many pistachio nuts and die of thirst but they are so good!

OP posts:
lazarusb · 15/06/2013 21:21

Dh found pistachio Magnums in Tesco Shock I love pistachio ice cream, can't really understand why it isn't more popular in the UK.

Cabbage, well done for being assertive Smile

We watched the Voice but I'm still in mourning for Mitchel! Give me some rock and I'm happy Smile

imtheonlyone · 15/06/2013 21:46

Evening everyone Smile

I'm shattered and aching all over! Have spent the day on the water in a Canadian canoe being coached!! I can now paddle in a straight line, paddle sideways, turn a 16 ft canoe round and I stood up in it!! Whilst it was on the water!!!! Sorry, can you tell in proud of myself??!!

Tomorrow on the other hand will be spent doing washing and ironing!! That is after a mammoth lie in Wink
