The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Whacking The Wine Witch Round The Chops (With Barry The Squid).

Hello, I'm Mouse :)

I'm one of the Brave Babes who's travelling on this wonderful, magical, mysterious Bus, trying to hold onto my sobriety for me, and for my family.

I do drink but thanks to this Bus, I've kicked the vodka addiction into touch and the evil WineWitch has been banished far, far away so I now drink in a controlled manner, One Day At A Time. :)

By that, I mean that just for today, I won't be drinking. Tomorrow, however, I will be because it's a very special occasion. The day after will be dealt with when I wake, and the day after that, the day after etc.....

We're a Bus filled with some fantastic posters, some who drink, some who don't touch a drop ever and some who are on/off drinkers who have lovely warm seats in the side-car, some are hanging onto the roof-rack by the tips of their fingers and trying their best to resist the dreaded WineWitch's charms night after night. But they are trying, and that's all that any of us can do, is keep trying, keep starting again!

So, if you think that you're drinking too much (you probably are) why not come and say hi? We won't bite - unless you ask very nicely, manners cost nothing Wink.

There's lots of seats so pick whichever one you like and have a Brew. Just jump in, we're not a judgemental pack of quiche makers Wink

And here's a bit of light reading for you.... our latest thread and the very first one, the reason we're all here.

Full, have you graduated yourself? Purple, huge hugs. Isinde, great to see you on good form. Can't post much on phone but I have read everything and send big warm wishes and smiles to all of you. Rest well tonight. X

fullofhopefullness · 21/05/2013 22:02

Ok ill come back:-) im so popular lol! I was thinking now im tee total!!! For ever and ever! You still dont mind me logging in and updating status now and again? To be honest I dont know whats going to happen.

aliasjoey · 21/05/2013 22:07

ma okay, you win, take the opal fruits

Fairenuff · 21/05/2013 22:12

Full isn't it great when the need/want to drink just goes away. I think it's like a fog lifting. Everything seems so much clearer and straight forward. And then there's the lovely Boing Smile

Just be aware that the WW is very sneaky and may come back to whisper in your ear when you least expect it. Use all your strategies every day and take it One Day At A Time.

And, yes, keep posting! Good news or bad, we're all here for each other.

dementedma · 21/05/2013 22:15

Hmph, chicken!

However, as a gracious winner, I award alias control of the bus song sheet and salvation army band.

Hi babes (and Barry).

It's business as usual here, checking in quickly and will catch up properly in a bit.

isindie you were going to bed hours ago - so stop posting and get off to sleep, you'll be glad of it when Mr Turtle comes calling in the morning.

other babes we may seem cosy and cuddly here, and I know that 3 years ago I'd never, ever have tried to join an ongoing thread, certainly not one with years of history and context and even people who've met in real life...

But, please, post. Feel free, feel welcomed and feel that (at last) this is somewhere that you can post about your fears and your hopes, your worst moments and your best. Whether you're drinking stopping, or just pretending - go on and join in. It is worth it.

KittyVonCatsworth · 22/05/2013 01:28

I love this thread! I've got into the habit if drinking every night, only a glass of wine, more often 2. Might not seem like a lot, but when combined with a bottle on each weekend evening, it mounts up.

We're just back from a holiday, drank to excess, and yeah, it was good fun, but now I'm scunnered. I told DP I wasn't drinking until his brothers wedding (this weekend), so a total of 3 weeks. Not a great deal of time, but even he was surprised. To date, I've had 2 bottles of beer. I'm actually enjoying it, but days where I'd love to crack open a bottle.

Going to have a few at the wedding but not kick the arse out of it. This thread is inspirational and encouraging (if not confusing with squids????!)

fullofhopefullness · 22/05/2013 02:29

lonnika · 22/05/2013 07:04

Well dne full - I hope people don't mind me still posting I don't think I have beaten the WW yet - she crops up now and again. I can't wait until I feel like you full - for me it is still ODAAT.

lonnika · 22/05/2013 07:11

oh and I saw this morning and liked it :-

MOTIVATION IS WHAT GETS YOU STARTED - HABIT IS WHAT KEEPS YOU GOING !

fullofhopefullness · 22/05/2013 07:49

Ih lonnika-I do feel that I understand it all better and its through lots of posts on this site. Halt didnt really add up for me although know it will for many. I think if it was halts it would be more relevant to me as ive fully realised now that my trigger is stress. I used it to drive all the worries out of my head. Only difference now for me is that im calmly and confidently looking at all those stresses and figuring out solutions with a clear head and mind. I am finding that very liberating. Best luck on your day 23 and my day 6!!

babyjane1 · 22/05/2013 08:24

Morning babes, inside really great to hear you sounding in top of the world!!! I love hearing all the success stories so those who have succeeded In beating the wine witch, my motivation is losing weight, better skin, more money and most importantly better attitude to life so all you success stories inspire me so please keep feeding back all the good things that are ahead, I'm on day 3 here and am attempting 2 weeks dry. The doctor explained if I'm drinking on anti depressants I might as well put them in the bin so I really need to give myself a chance to get better, someone said the other day they don't know what came first the depression or the wine and this is very relevant, most of people
On here are victims of both, all the positivity on here is very encouraging so keep inspiring us babes!! purple how are you my friend? Xxx

Fairenuff · 22/05/2013 08:25

MOTIVATION IS WHAT GETS YOU STARTED - HABIT IS WHAT KEEPS YOU GOING

I love this. I'm keeping it with my 'If you want something you'll find a way, if you don't you'll find an excuse'.

I have these little mantras and as soon as the slightest thought of drinking comes into my head, I say them to myself until that thought goes away. Only takes a few seconds but it's an effective strategy for me.

Full I also love that you bothered to work out how many days are in fifty years. I found myself thinking, good grief 182500, that's a lot of days! Then I realised that I probably don't have another 50 years and each one of those days is precious. I shouldn't waste them.

When I look back on my life what am I going to say - I wish I had drunk more? I doubt it Grin

Btw, someone on the bus (probably clever old venus) said that it takes six weeks to form a new habit (or break an old one), so small changes over a relatively short time do make all the difference.

Happy Hump Day babes, have a good one.

Mouse thinking of you x

Ladame · 22/05/2013 08:39

Good morning all babes.
Isinde ? my roots are Norf London innit. But I understood and I went back in the kitchen, past Mr Ladame and put the bottle back in the fridge. This morning I {{heart}} you - (gazes at Isinde). I suspect your boing will be continuing today ? and I will continue to feel it across the channel Grin
Purple I hope you are feeling better this morning. I?m sending you some French fairies with some magic hopeful dust (you know they are French ?cos they have a better sense of style, are slimmer than British fairies and don?t drink as much ? yeah right! Snort! Sooo not the case ?ahem?).

Shaky - Well done you, that cannot have been an easy conversation, but you did it. Have a calm Wednesday, you are off work so there is no excuse not to post and let us know how you?re doing.
Phoenix - You too, hope you have an easy and uneventful day.
Waves at babyjane
Mouse Where be you? Where be you? Is you ok?

curryeater · 22/05/2013 08:42

Great stuff Full and Lonnika. Please please do keep posting. I love to hear dispatches from the successful front line. Day 3 here. Can't wait for all this house stuff to be over. Really just hanging on right now. Lots of funny breathing, not sure if the return of asthma or stress. Work tricky. Need to stay calm and hang on. I need to make changes but so many things are in flux, today it's just about hanging on. And for a few weeks.

Welcome new person. Sorry on phone can't check back don't want to get your name wrong.

Have a good day all babes x

Ladame · 22/05/2013 08:43

I've got to make fifteen giant lasagnes today. Twelve 'classic and three veggie. Got the radio on and going to start a 'choppin and a 'peelin. My favourite type of job. The sun is out (at last) and today I am a happy Ladame.

curryeater · 22/05/2013 08:48

Could I ask if Shaky, Pheonix and Kitty want to - and lrd now she has popped in - hi! - Could they copy and paste from Friday up thread and put a potted bio on the list? Then we can keep the list up to date, keep all babes safely in the fold and maybe include the list at the top of the next thread? Only if you want to of course.
