The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Whacking The Wine Witch Round The Chops (With Barry The Squid).

Hello, I'm Mouse :)

I'm one of the Brave Babes who's travelling on this wonderful, magical, mysterious Bus, trying to hold onto my sobriety for me, and for my family.

I do drink but thanks to this Bus, I've kicked the vodka addiction into touch and the evil WineWitch has been banished far, far away so I now drink in a controlled manner, One Day At A Time. :)

By that, I mean that just for today, I won't be drinking. Tomorrow, however, I will be because it's a very special occasion. The day after will be dealt with when I wake, and the day after that, the day after etc.....

We're a Bus filled with some fantastic posters, some who drink, some who don't touch a drop ever and some who are on/off drinkers who have lovely warm seats in the side-car, some are hanging onto the roof-rack by the tips of their fingers and trying their best to resist the dreaded WineWitch's charms night after night. But they are trying, and that's all that any of us can do, is keep trying, keep starting again!

So, if you think that you're drinking too much (you probably are) why not come and say hi? We won't bite - unless you ask very nicely, manners cost nothing Wink.

There's lots of seats so pick whichever one you like and have a Brew. Just jump in, we're not a judgemental pack of quiche makers Wink

And here's a bit of light reading for you.... our latest thread and the very first one, the reason we're all here.

Can people please stop beating up Barry. He is our official bus driver after all and looks pretty good in Isinde's hat Grin

There must be an old kipper or something we can use to beat each other with instead, shurely Shirely?

Hi all,

Welcome Phoenix and shaky. Well done on taking first step - keep reading and posting. This 'bus' and the people on it have got me through 22 alcohol free days - when I feel like a drink I go and read the threads from the first one and just reading people's journeys both in the past and present really helps me!!!
I still struggle (in bed now so not tempted :) by WW) but it has definately got easier. Good luck to you both :). Listen to the advice support from the others on here, they are fantastic :)

PurpleWolfe · 21/05/2013 20:05

Thanks Isinde I'm heartily fucking sick of myself and my self-destructive ways. Would like to go to sleep and wake up as someone else (someone else with the same gorgeous DC as I have!). Really not looking for sympathy here but feel beyond help just now. x

fullofhopefullness · 21/05/2013 20:07

Day 5 here and must admit dont feel any sort of wish to drink anything but water anymore. Think its over with that even though life bit grim. Even though grim its starting to look more interesting when looking properly at it. New policy I think.

Shaky · 21/05/2013 20:10

I really appreciate the warm welcome. Just put my 3 yr old ds to bed and now is the time that I would be reaching into the fridge for the wine, every single night that I am not on call.

I need to sit down and have a talk with my dp to tell him what has happened today. He will be gutted and worried sick Sad. I'm sure he knows that I have been drinking too much but would never say anything.

Literally shaking with nerves and feel sick.
I will post back later

fullofhopefullness · 21/05/2013 20:27

Bye bye all and best wishes:-)

PurpleWolfe · 21/05/2013 20:36

Where are you going Full????????????????

Shaky · 21/05/2013 20:37

I have told him and he was lovely. He had no idea and just thought it was a couple of glasses of wine to chill out. Bless him.

My plan for tonight is to make some hot chocolate and go to bed with a good book. Feel completely washed out after today.

Thank you for the hand holding. I promise to stop beating myself up and get on with living my life instead of drinking to make it go away.

Thanks

You are all a lovely bunch and I think that being on the bus will really help.

lonnika · 21/05/2013 20:39

Hi full hope you feeling OK ? Take care x
Shaky - well done - you may not sleep well tonight but I promise if you continue not drinking you will start to sleep like a baby - congrats on day 1 x

babyjane1 · 21/05/2013 21:00

phoenix shaky big hugs and welcome minty thanks for your advice, you too gugg purple we love you just the way you are, I'm sorry you feel so down, I have been feeling just the same way. My lovely mum came to the doctor with me today and I have been given diazepam for my anxiety and hope that this will deflect me from the wine, can your GP not help you in the same way. I want to wave and send oodles of affection to every single babe out out there, loving the warmth that emanates from every post, love it x x x

dementedma · 21/05/2013 21:39

My goodness, this bus is going like the clappers - far too many posts for me to catch up on.

purps here, have a hug and >whispers> I've got some green opal fruits just for you.
And by the way you lot, WHAT THE FUCK HAS HAPPENED TO BARRY?

Honestly, can't trust you lot for a minute......

aliasjoey · 21/05/2013 21:42

Welcome phoenix shaky

I had a small amount of wine the last 3 nights, and now I want some every night. It's funny how even a little can trigger the urge. Sad somebody earlier mentioned about that first feeling of relaxing, letting it all slip away - wish I could find something to replace that!

purple you okay?

fullof where are you?

aliasjoey · 21/05/2013 21:43

Oi! I'm the keeper of the opal fruits!

dementedma · 21/05/2013 21:48
