Regale me with hilarious/ridiculous things that a narcissist or enabler has said to you....

I'll go first.

My DF acts as enabler for my narcissist M, although I doubt he's fully aware of this. We were discussing her and my god-awful childhood yesterday over skype when he dropped in this little gem:

'Well, you were so quiet. You didn't really defend yourself properly.'

Shock What the actual fuck?!

I didn't really process the remark at the time but now I'm bloody fuming.

Go on, tell me yours. Let's laugh at the bastards and then maybe I won't spend the next week dwelling on my wrath

Building Grin

The way you manage your Dad reminds me of my ex who I suspect of being a narc.

I had another thread on here recent about him - we've been separated for nearly right years and while I have long since stopped caring about his opinion of me he has started making nasty comments to my DS - most recent being that I don't like.DS because he is "exactly like his Dad". What he doesn't seem to grasp is that DS a) talks to me about these things and b) it upsets DS.

Or, maybe he does realise and doesn't care?

My parents were the original life & souls of the party. We could never go anywhere just us, childless drinking buddies had to come along too making it clear we children were the unwanted extra guests not them. Even holidays were just about them finding new drinking buddies. Somehow though they're not in touch with ANY of these amazing friends anymore & have no friends, only neighbours they take advantage of to do things for them. Prize example - a neighbour whose husband is a double amputee they badger to run errands for them!

flippinada · 29/03/2013 10:12

Eight years, not right

buildingmycorestrength · 29/03/2013 10:23

Midwife that is an amaaazing example of narc selfishness!

crushedintherush · 29/03/2013 10:47

flipp, yes, he's an adult, and her enabler, but has always been under her thumb. 'Do this, do that, take me here, drop me off there'. She used to say to me, or dsis, when courting/getting married 'get such-a-such (male name) to do it for you, thats what men are here for'. 'Or blame him, he's a man'. A man hater as well as a narc.

Thanks dothrakiSmile
I thought I was hogging the postBlush
I don't have a little bunny symbol Sad but I still have the heart ? Wink
I'm definitely not visiting mine over Easter. No plans in the pipeline as such.
Hope all posters that do visit their narcs this weekend make the best of things and not allow the narcs to spoil their Easter. I'm getting ready now for a long stroll to the pub for a beer n burger Grin

Have a lovely long weekend everyone !! Wine Wine Cheers!

dothraki · 29/03/2013 10:54

A beer and a burger mmmmmmmmmm that sounds good.

crushedintherush · 29/03/2013 10:59

midwife, thats terrible.Sad children to be seen and not heard somewhere.

Reminds me of when we're younger, (here we go again). On a saturday, we had to sit in the car outside the pub while mum and dad sat in it drinking for what seemed like hours. They would come out once or twice with a coke for us, (and only 1 bag of crisps each the whole time). The keys were not in the car so had no heating on. And the pub visits were not confined to the summer.

Sorry Herrena, I promise to find something funny to say, although the hairdressers one I mentioned in an earlier post made my day, really.....

crushedintherush · 29/03/2013 11:06

Right, DEFINITELY getting ready now for the beer n burger, looking forward to it, here dothraki have a Wine Wine on me (shame they don't have beer and burger icons).

I'll be back later.

Midwife99 · 29/03/2013 11:10

Crushed - my parents were the publicans. I was upstairs in the flat on my own every night & all weekend! I should have invited all those kids in the carpark in! Sad

flippinada · 29/03/2013 11:16

Crushed I understand what you're saying- they are arch manipulators aren't they? And if your are conditioned to accept it then it becomes your "normal".

Midwife :(

flippinada · 29/03/2013 11:17

Oh, and enjoy your beer and burger! Sounds lovely.

sassyandsixty · 29/03/2013 11:18

Mother to eldest of 3 adult married dds: 'I really couldn't bear it if any of you three girls ever got divorced.'.....

Xales · 29/03/2013 11:27

Half sister when we were arguing

"It's not my fault my dad nonced (raped and abused from about 8 until mid teens) you"

In front of her children and my then partner and child.

She got a door between us or I really would have beaten the crap out of her then to my shmae .

flippinada · 29/03/2013 11:32

Xales Angry and Shock !

garlicbrunch · 29/03/2013 16:30

"... means she now has the enabler attitude to anyone"

OMG! This is me! Thank you!!!

crushedintherush · 29/03/2013 17:27

midwife -wish we knew you were there too. Not much fun on either side of the bar, by the sound of it..

Funnily enough, I hardly eat crisps and not keen on coke much either (give or take a tia maria or two). Very seldom though...

KoalaFace · 29/03/2013 17:31

Oh Xales! No not to your shame at all. It sounds like you are an absolute saint for not giving her a hiding.

goodjambadjar · 29/03/2013 17:48

Xales I might have attempted to break the door down. That is a horrible thing to say. Angry Thanks

My narc 'D'B rang me with the ump this morning because he couldn't get hold of DM. He was raging that she wasn't answering her phone.
When I finally spoke to her this afternoon I asked what the fuss was about. She rang him in a panic at 5 missed calls (couldn't hear her new mobile).

He'd run out of hair gel. Hmm

garlicbrunch · 29/03/2013 17:55

HAAAAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAH, goodjam Grin
and
Hmm

crushedintherush · 29/03/2013 18:08

xhales Sad

Is your half sister the golden child? Horrible how the abuse gets passed down by parent to sibling, like its one big competition...

crushedintherush · 29/03/2013 18:16

goodjam, no chance of getting some hairgel himself then....hmmmm.

buildingmycorestrength · 29/03/2013 18:42

Hair gel! Fantastic.

Midwife99 · 29/03/2013 18:45

Oh dear!!!! He sounds like my DM!! She rang me repeatedly & left messages telling me to phone her urgently while at work. It turned out to be that she had bought the wrong toothbrush heads!!!

dothraki · 29/03/2013 21:14
