Chottie · 03/02/2013 03:53

cafecito hello >

cafecito · 03/02/2013 03:55

cafecito · 03/02/2013 03:57

Smile dissertation is superfluous to my main activities, just for some added STRESS and tbh I haven't even got a decent working title, I have about 3 or 4 vague ideas and I keep thinking I will get started after this round of med exams is over, but then it's like I'm balancing a little too much and really I should not be doing both at the same time. hohum. it's not medicine related, well it kind of is, but not science

cafecito · 03/02/2013 03:59

la vida es un carnaval' is playing on repeat, I may need to switch playlists or I will start drunken tequila dancing and not realise what I am doing through lack of sleep

StairsInTheNight · 03/02/2013 04:00

i do the abc game too, never thought of doing medical stuff (technical term) i usually do vegetables. Vegetable beginning with D anyone? Always flummoxes me.

cafecito · 03/02/2013 04:01

stairsinthenight hello!

what is in nytol?

I have had various sleeping aids before (for my insomnia began very young.. before I had any substantive reasons to not sleep) but I react very badly to sleeping meds, in fact zopiclone makes me absolutely hyperactive bouncing off the walls wiiiiide awake and delirious... and benzos never really work for me either, unless washed down with a bottle of rum (not good) so I remain unmedicated

SummerDad · 03/02/2013 04:01

Hi cafecito, hope you will be great just finished writing a long email to a friend in the early hours of this morning.

OP posts:
cafecito · 03/02/2013 04:02

vegetable beginning with D...

cafecito · 03/02/2013 04:02

hi summerdad! Smile have you slept yet?

kittyandthegoldenfontanelles · 03/02/2013 04:03

Ah latin humour [spod]

chottie thank you for the flowers; they are my first ever virtual blooms.

hi stairs yes I used to find nytol worked a treat too. Glad you've found something which works when you're stocked up

You see cafe that's what happens when you mess with your circadian rhythms. That'll lern ya. Sad

We really need a sleep face emoticon...thus is mumsnet for Pete's sake Wink

cafecito · 03/02/2013 04:04

Stairs I have been on/off MN for ooh... I don't know... 4 years, no, 5 years I think.. (had a 3 year flounce) but I have never found a thread like this before, so hooray SummerDad thank you for starting it!

cafecito · 03/02/2013 04:05

or a sleep deprived face... newborn + mumsnet = why don't we have this already!

cafecito · 03/02/2013 04:06

I wish I had done latin at school. My school did latin and ancient greek... but I joined after they had been doing it for 2 and ahalf years already (poncey bunch) so I sat at the back trying to teach myself german instead. I would be so much more well rounded if I could speak/read/write/quote impressively ancient yet fundamental tomes of latin

cafecito · 03/02/2013 04:08

there is a lot of latin in neuroanatomy though

kittyandthegoldenfontanelles · 03/02/2013 04:08

Nytol is herbal, don't know what's in it but it seemed to work for me pre baby, when I was doing my dissertation.

Hmm, vegetable beginning with D....

SummerDad · 03/02/2013 04:09

well I had a very early-ish night, I dozed off at around 12 I guess mostly because of my exhaustion due to very little sleep last week, got up around 3 ish and straightaway dashed to mnet. I am getting addicted to this thread now, seems like I keep dreaming about this place when I am asleep Wink

OP posts:
StairsInTheNight · 03/02/2013 04:09

its a herbal thing with valerian. I had no expectations that it would work tbh. I still wake but only briefly and go back to sleep. Vast improvement as i have no desire to take proper meds but the insomnia was getting unbearable (have suffered for many years). I am top procrastinator too. Can find time to do anything irrelevant. Pass me your dissertation?

kittyandthegoldenfontanelles · 03/02/2013 04:13

I only did Latin for a year and it wasn't possible to take it further but I loved it and my subjects have always been science based so it they reinforce each other. Also, a Catholic upbringing helps Grin

Latin makes sense to me and definitely helps with etymology. I would have loved to have done more officially

SummerDad · 03/02/2013 04:15

StairsInTheNight your post reminded me that I had to help someone with an assignment and the deadline happens to be tomorrow. Doh, I might end up spending the rest of tonight doing that now Smile

CafeCito that was so kind of you to say that but like almost every great thing, this thread was quite incidental and I had no idea it might turn into something epic, hehehe.

OP posts:
StairsInTheNight · 03/02/2013 04:16

i remember when DS was little and he would wake every 2-3hrs. It would take me an hour or two to get off each time. Then he would wake. Grin i would read the 'sleep is for the weak' threads and sob. Still dont know how i survived.

kittyandthegoldenfontanelles · 03/02/2013 04:16

Can it be a fruit stairs or does it have to be a vegetable?

Durian? Dragon fruit?

cafecito · 03/02/2013 04:17

haha stairs - me too! I am SO productive when I am avoiding my work. I think I live in fear of starting the task of my work because it's quite a big thing, so I take on more work to avoid it ...passes dissertation under the table, exchanges for thesis editing or my recent venture, doing a whole business's accounts, for free, in my 'spare time' pah..

kittyandthegoldenfontanelles · 03/02/2013 04:19

stairs that's basically what's happening in our house at the moment
