Oooh good luck Watch! Fingers crossed this one is fun Grin

lubeybooby · 24/01/2013 13:23

domestic yes there are loads on OKC

You can filter them out somehow by making sure you are looking for singles, they still appear in your inbox but 'greyed out'

The profiles saying 'available' rather than single used to catch me out at times. Very annoying.

And yeah, grit your teeth and go - sometimes they can turn out to be surprisingly good and come across differently in RL. Sometimes not - worth a go though!

Good Luck Watch! icing sugar and glitter sounds like a good look to me!

No dice with the man who might have sorted out my work problems this morning... waiting to hear back from someone else regarding a possibility.

Landlord visit tonight to look at a dodgy window.

yesterday really nasty snippy phone call from DS1s CAHMS bloke because we missed the last appointment. Guy spoke down his nose at me the whole time until I corrected him. 'Do you understand the term 'inverted hierarchy'? Hmm yes. I'm not an idiot. Then he basically attacked my parenting and said he was wasting his time with DS1 - he has reached this conclusion by meeting him twice for an hour at a time. It was all a bit 'i'm very important'...absolutely not taking this (will possibly start a thread on this, because this is absolutely not dating related at all)

dating-wise... Nice man on OKC has sent me a very brief message because I hadnt responded to him yesterday ( we are on alternate day messaging, so nothing too scary) explaining something he had said as he didnt want me to misinterpret. which i like.

it's my birthday! online people have been lovely on fb. real life not quite so much. Am sitting at desk at work (lunchtime!) as I'm trying to not acknowledge it is birthday...

48howdidthathappen · 24/01/2013 13:31

Happy Birthday Snape Have a glass or two tonight. I may join you Smile

SweetSeraphim · 24/01/2013 14:26

Happy Birthday Snape! Hope your day gets better x

OhWesternWind · 24/01/2013 14:26

Ike bet you have a blast at the tribute night. Volunteering sounds good too.

Dom - he might be better irl. Sense of humour doesn't always come across properly messaging/texting. But if you really don't want to go, cancel. Politely, of course, but you don't owe him anything so don't feel you have to meet.

watchoutforthatsnail · 24/01/2013 14:43

Happy birthday snape.

Date was dire. I had to make an excuse to leave. I have never and will never fancy a man wearing a fleece gillet over a farmers shit.

SweetSeraphim · 24/01/2013 15:03

Oh shit. Sorry Watch Sad

Was there nothing fanciable about him at all?

lubeybooby · 24/01/2013 15:06

Oh no watch!

OP posts:
Scrazy · 24/01/2013 15:07

Watch, did you mean farmers shirt? Not sure what a farmers shirt is but a fleece gillet wouldn't put me off, nowadays. Guess there was other stuff you didn't like eh? Grin

OhWesternWind · 24/01/2013 15:15

Is a farmer's shirt one of the checked ones? There are a lot of those about round my neck of the woods, don't really bother me . . . but then again, I'm not exactly at the cutting edge of fashion. And LM has been spotted wearing a cardigan before now although he tries to pretend it's not. Oh dear, that's what happens when you get old.

The question is whether you'd fancy him without the shirt and gilet or any other clothes

Snapespeare · 24/01/2013 15:16

there is nothing sexy about fleece. unless it is worn by Johnny Depp.

Bant · 24/01/2013 15:17

Really, watch? And you don't feel just the tiniest bit guilty about that?

If someone from this thread went on a date with a man and he left halfway through because he didn't like the way she dressed, he'd be roasted alive...

48howdidthathappen · 24/01/2013 15:18

I thought he was a country type Confused wasn't there mention of pheasant shooting?

domesticgodless · 24/01/2013 15:20

Happy birthday snape! It's my 40th in a week's time. Hope to god ill have some people to go out with.

Trying not to focus on being 40 and aloooooone ATM and clearly FAILING. bah

MsCellophane · 24/01/2013 15:22

Happy Birthday Snape!

sorry your date was shite watch, those ones are so awkward

domesticgodless · 24/01/2013 15:22

Bant I've once made an excuse to leave. It was 10 pm though and I said I had to 'get back to babysitter'. I think it's fair enough why waste the guy's time and your own if its a definite no?

lubeybooby · 24/01/2013 15:24

Bant it sounds like the fashion or lack thereof wasn't the only problem if the date was 'dire'

OP posts:
OhWesternWind · 24/01/2013 15:24

Hi Bant, good to see you here. How are things going with the job?

Bant · 24/01/2013 15:45

Jobs good, Hungarian women also good, although way too early to have dated any yet. Currently waiting for a flight 10 hours late, in a different city than planned. Ho hum.

watchoutforthatsnail · 24/01/2013 15:48

bant, please dont try to pick a fight with me, there is no need. Ive said the date was dire. Which is was, im not updating properly from the laptop, not the car, waiting for dd to come out of school ( where i got lots of compliments on how lovely i looked)

it wasnt only the fleece gillet over the farmers SHIRT that was the awful thing, but my toenails are more interesting anf have more personality. he barley spoke and when he did he came out with such gems as he likes throwing things at cats. Or enjoys shooting because its the only thing that gets him out the house bar work, or he would never leave the house.
he doent go anywhere, he doesnt do anything. Ive had more engaging conversations with my dog, frankly.

And i made my excuses afetr 30 mins, because couldnt bare holding all the conversation by myself while he sat there and said tihngs like ' oh, so you like to get out and about then'

I wasnt rude and i didnt do a runner, i said i had to be going as i had things to do. So i really dont deserve a roasting, not point scoring, thank you very much

OhWesternWind · 24/01/2013 15:50

Bant I'm surprised you've not had at least four dates lined up already Smile. Glad things are going well (apart from the travel). Are you back home for a while now?

lubeybooby · 24/01/2013 15:50

Sounds awful, watch.

Throwing things at cats? wtf? I'd have offered to throw things at his head let alone leave early.

OP posts:
Bant · 24/01/2013 15:53

Okay if it's the fact he was painfully dull and throws things at cats, that's understandable. Your post read that it was because of the gilet thing.

And I'm not trying to score points if I call someone on appearing to be rude and hypocritical. Not that you were, but it did seem that way

watchoutforthatsnail · 24/01/2013 15:54

and a farmers shirt might look lovely on some. but damn im young. I cant and just am not attracted to some who dresses like my grandad, who, incidentally was a farmer.
