Thought I take the liberty of starting us off again ...

OP posts:
mercury7 · 18/12/2012 01:32

she sounds rather predatory Banta!!

BantaBaby · 18/12/2012 01:43

Shark attack kissing meant - we were having a conversation while walking down the street. We stopped, to light a cigarette each (yes they're bad for you but such a great social crutch), turned to face each other before lighting and I was going to kiss her when ZOOOOM she leapt forward and kissed me.

Not that I'm upset, it's nice to not have to explicitly make every first move, it was just a bit whooosh.

Possibly not the same as other people have had. I was going to kiss her anyway, but am used to women waiting for me to go in first for the first kiss.

BantaBaby · 18/12/2012 01:46

and merc she wasn't predatory so much as very forward. I knew that if I pushed it I would have ended up back at hers, or her back at mine, for Coffee (we haven't got a new name for that yet have we) but I ended up putting her in a taxi, gentlemanlike, and she called me a few minutes ago saying what a great time she had and she's looking forward to date 2.

at which point I sent her Flo's video as I was watching it and laughing at the time. That may have put her off me :)

cafecito · 18/12/2012 01:55

well done for putting her in the taxi
hmmm see, if a guy did that to me, just zoomed in there (but I LIKED him) then I'd love it

cafecito · 18/12/2012 01:57

alas I only LIKE the unavailable hard to read types :) the ones who zoom in put me off :) but if you were going to kiss her anyway, that's nice! but yeah maybe I'm a bit traditional I'd still rather the guy went for it first

cafecito · 18/12/2012 01:58

it sounds like it went REALLY well :) did you tell her about going abroad?

BantaBaby · 18/12/2012 02:02

yeah I told her I was going to be away for pretty much 3 weeks a month, but keeping my place here. She seemed to be okay with it

However, I'm torn between finding someone who I'm desperate to come back to see, and someone who it'll be nice to see when I'm home.

I'm currently just thinking of

cafecito · 18/12/2012 02:46

hahahaha

cafecito · 18/12/2012 02:46

I saw him live this summer, so funny

cafecito · 18/12/2012 02:50

I know what you mean though, maybe she doesn't have that spark you're really looking for. hmm. I think with mraloof I'm just something that's nice to see every so often, he's obviously not crazy about seeing me or he would see me more. I guess it depends what you want. At least if it's not a good thing, you could easily get out of it as you're out of the country most of the month. It will never get stifling and would be on your terms

Did she really grab your crotch (and was that a good thing or a bad thing)?!

I knew what the link was going to be without even clicking!

So, so far we've got "double-quick portions and shark attack kissing"! Grin

Morning all.

FlorentinePogen · 18/12/2012 07:35

'Shark kissing'.......Smile

Get that added to next thread title.

bumhead · 18/12/2012 07:56

Bant she may have just been incredibly nervous. I know from my dating years there were times I was less than slick in my moves.
Anyway look at it like this, she must have thought you were so hot she couldn't help herself ;)
Also wanted to add a thought to general proceeding on here. It's just an observation I'd made from when I was OD.
As women we are allegedly programmed to seek a man who is a prize (to ensure strong breeding material etc blah blah) so we go for men who are a challenge.
Men apparently need to feel like the pursuer so therefore are turned off by women who are too available. Hence Bant and the red-flag-covered overly keen artist.
I think on all sides over-keen-ness is a turn off, but I was always the same. If the man was too keen on me I wasn't interested, I always wanted the challenge. Think the trick is to be a bit (but not too) aloof, but then we are back to playing games!
Anyway the above might just be a load of bollocks but I read it somewhere so thought I'd post it.

VelvetSpoon · 18/12/2012 08:27

I don't think there's anything wrong with the woman making the first move. I did with my lovely Ex, and it was a good thing because a) it resulted in the best relationship I've ever had and b) he told me later he would never have tried to kiss me as he considered me completely out of his league :) god, I miss him!

So, no news from Cuthbert since Saturday. Chances of me seeing him before Xmas looking increasingly unlikely. Meh.

48howdidthathappen · 18/12/2012 08:31

bum I think you have a point.
I have met very few men where I didn't feel I was dragged kicking and screaming into game play. My ex of 25years and Mr Oz are two of my gold stars in that respect.

Crotch grabbing is a bit, well don't what I think really. I wouldn't like someone to grab mine.

Pixiebelle123 · 18/12/2012 08:37

Good morning everyone, I'm sorry I've been missing for a while but I've been busy with my new boyfriend - yay! It's mr tall who I met on POF of all places, he is super lovely and I'm feeling deliriously happy Smile.

I'm terrified I'll jinx it by talking about it too much so will leave it there for now!

48howdidthathappen · 18/12/2012 08:46

whispers yay for pixie and mr tall Smile

SevenSnapespearesSwimming · 18/12/2012 09:30

bant I think you are a drowning man hanging onto driftwood waiting for a fully equipped speedboat.

Before beer goggles you were hesitant and didn't find her attractive. Add beer goggles and kissing and you're in a 'you'll do I'm moving to Hungary for three weeks out of four mode. Personally I wouldn't get involved with her if I didn't have the fireflies-in-the-stomach feeling and if i were her i wouldn't get involved with you from the point of view that you didn't have the fireflies.

No opinion on shark kissing. As long as the kissing was good, who cares who instigated it. The crotch grabbing might be a bit scary.

SevenSnapespearesSwimming · 18/12/2012 09:31

(Yay! Pixie!)

SevenSnapespearesSwimming · 18/12/2012 09:34

spoon (sorry for multi-posting) sorry about cuthbert. I think it's one of those things where if he has very low lows, you either put-up with it, if he's worth the effort and get on with things while he's out of the game...or you bow-out. Decision certainly doesn't need to be made now, just that it probably will surface at some point...

antonym · 18/12/2012 09:54

bant tell yourself that story with the sexes reversed and see how attractive it sounds.

Not sure you have mastered the Kenny Rogers point that the secret to survival is knowing when to walk away, and knowing when to run.

mercury7 · 18/12/2012 10:26

possibly alot of men are pleased if women are sexually forward?
But it is unusual (?) for them to be so proactive.

I might initiate a kiss, if I had the impression that he wanted to but wasnt sure if I wanted to, I mean some men do just jump right in with the snog, others wait a bit too long for you to give the right signal.

I would not 'crotch grab' Shock even if drunk

ike1 · 18/12/2012 10:42

oooh no crotch grabbing sounds grim indeed...but then you would be lucky to get a matey slap on the back at the end of a first date with me.....

Yogagirl17 · 18/12/2012 11:03

Pixie that's wonderful.

I don't want a Mr Emotionally Unavailable, I just want someone nice & lovely. I can see now that XH was actually just not a very nice person. He was the life and soul of a party then had a bad word to say about everyone there as soon as we were home.

As for making the first move, I can't quite bring myself to do it. If I fancy the guy I try and give out those 'please kiss me now' signals and then hope for the best.

Meanwhile, distracting myself from singledom with a bit of David Tenant, lying on the sofa drinking coffee and watching the Runaway Bride.
