Hello, I'm Mouse

I'm one of the Brave Babes travelling on this fantabulous Bus, on it's journey to the wonderful world of sobriety.

The great thing is, that the people on here are a real mixed bunch. Some are drinking regularly, some aren't. Some are sober and have been for any number of days, some weeks, months and yep, some even for years.

There's no judging pants allowed, no savoury flans either , just lots of unconditional support from many varied sources. Yes, some of us have been here from the start but please don't let that stop you posting, this thread is for EVERYONE and it always has been

FIRST EVER THREAD

I think our 'lost' Christmas stocking was nabbed by DD after last years festivities because it was her favourite and is now somewhere in the depth of her bedroom where it will take Tony Robinson and the whole of the Time Team a full 3 days to ever uncover it again. She's denying this, of course. In the meantime, DS1 has opted to have a bin bag - on his misguided understanding that he'll get more presents with a bigger bag!

On the 'illness' front, we are all still pretty poorly but DS2 has gone down with the high temp bug. Deep joy. x

purple glad to hear you are feeling a bit more sorted! we have twice tried to get one of the bugs but they are too small. they basically look like first instar (baby) bedbugs, but we've never seen any adults, droppings or other evidence.

anyway we've taken down the bed. they may even just be booklice and nothing to do with her bites, but we needed a new bed... and I felt guilty for doubting her last time and saying she was a drama queen!

Well, it's finally here. The dcs have hung their stockings 'by the fireside with care' and toddled off to bed. I don't think I'll be far behind them. Just going to finish my hot chocolate.

RANT ALERT

I am utterly fucked off. Utterly.

DH has just this minute found out that some tw@t has cloned his bank card for him. How so very generous and kind of them, why on earth didn't I think of that..... such a wonderful thing to do to a person and for them to discover on Christmas Fecking Eve!

Nemo is still super poorly, coughing his wee heart out, temp sky high (Purple - you have my utmost empathies) and he feels so sore from coughing, being sick......

DD won't have her iPhone as planned as my poor Bro messed up and now she has to wait to have it unlocked (long story) and I am sick, sick, sick, to the back teeth of my family and the people I love being given a rough fecking ride.

I'd like to raise a (non-alcoholic) toast to all the Babes on here. You've all been a wonderful support to me since I joined in April (May?) and without it I could never have got to the stage where I am contemplating holding off the booze until tomorrow evening AND not drinking at all on Boxing Day.

To all those who've shared their embarrassing, sad, lonely and frightening experiences. To all who have given words of wisdom, help, support and advice. To those who have reached their goal and those of us still with some way to go.

But for THREE YEARS, THREE WHOLE CHRISTMAS'S he has been ILL!!!

This is the first year that he 'gets it'. He understands Santa, he knows that tonight is the last sleep and is sooooo excited but his little body won't let him be boingy.

Last year, DD opened his presents whilst he lay on the floor in a make shift bed I'd made for him so he could help her and be near his pile of gifts. How sad is that?

Joey and Gugg - thank you both. It is utterly shit and I really do wish that tonight, just for one night, The Big Guy Up There would give us a bloody break........

I hate moaning, I really do. I'm not posting for sympathy, I'm angry and could kick the living shite out of something right now.....

Thank you for letting me get this out. I will catch up and post properly soon, then sort the new thread, we're close to the end of this one already and I think we're going to need a thread over Christmas aren't we?

I'm going to have some calm time with Nemo, med him, feed him and then a glass of cava with DH (Christmas Eve tradition) whilst I write my card to him, and then hope for some sleep....

Today mouse people you've never met will be thinking about you and Nemo. It happens every day. One of the BBs will hug their dcs (or look at them I'm exasperation!) or cope with a relative, or phone call or say not now' to a drink and think of you.
We all do all the time. We face a situation and come up with the right solution. Or we fail, and try again tomorrow.

I have decided that my phone hates MN so I'm going to try not to post on it in the future! I hope it all made sense but reading back it looked as though I was three sheets to the wind!

On a festive note, the turkey has just caught light in the oven. DH put it in a foil turkey tin, LONGWAYS!

Hot fat and naked flame = fire. It's okay, I've sorted it and put it in a roasting tin, sideways, cleaned up the kitchen and aired the house but FFS. The house was full of blue smoke! Good job it's only us!!

Lol at mouse and the BBQ turkey.just finished main course and too stuffed for desserts so men folk doing the dishes while the chef relaxes.....

Nemo is lying on the floor, done in bless him, DH has been banned from more cooking asked to go to the kitchen to do the veg but to leave the fecking turkey ALONE! Said turkey is cooked and resting, DD is hiding in her room, aka chillaxing.

I am freshly re-showered after stinking of fat and smoke, aka burning turkey! The table is set, the cava is on ice and we are going to enjoy the rest of the day as it happens

I hope it's quiet on here because everyone is safe, well and enjoying being with their families, friends or even just themselves.

Back home from mums, all in our new PJs and slobbing out in front of TV. Tidying up can wait.
Had small glasses of cava and of white wine but quite happy not to be drinking at the mo. Might have a drop later, might not. Not craving and feel in control. Everyone else OK?

All stuffed with turkey and slobbing in front of tv here (Ice Age 4). Dh has done all the cooking to perfection. Not a sign of sizzled sausages anywhere Lots of lovely pressies too, we've all been spoiled rotten.

Had a little wine with lunch but it just made me sleepy. Gearing up for a family board game later.
