Hello, tis me, Mouse Smile

I'm one of the Brave Babes aboard the Battle Bus, on the journey to sobriety.

We have drinkers, non-drinkers, inbetweeners, notquitesurers...... which is all fantastic. Smile

No matter who you are or where you're at in your personal quest to get where you want to be, come grab a seat and join in the natter, just jump right in. Smile

And, if you'd like to see where we've been up until now, HERE is a link to the last thread and the ones before it

See you soon.

struggle struggle struggle....

Literally wrestling with myself at the moment. Drink, night off, drink, night off.....

Ill, feel good, ill, feel good. Bloody nightmare. I have all the will power of gnats arse!

Hello to all. :)

MsGee how did you get on... you sounded strong....! :) Am considering getting some alchohol free beer in. Does it taste nice?

Lola - I have two little boys and everyday is a day to do so much 'fun stuff' with them. I do feel like I manage it but its a superhuman effort and the person who ends up suffering the most in the end is MrBlanket (no energy for sex after going the extra (hungover) mile with DCs)!

Sigh.

Im trying. Thats all. Im trying.

Ma - not only do you make me laugh but every time I see your name it makes me feel like I need a cuddle. I wish I could tell my Mum my problems and have a cuddle.... Its lonely doing all this lying. But I guess at least Ive stopped lying to myself. :)

chasing - if it were me - I would not drink.... I managed 7 days and then had a drink and it took me another 11 days to start again..... I hope you are stronger than me. Good luck honey.

Greyhound - I loved your post. I do 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 9 and 10. And the only reason that I dont recycle too often is because our bottle bin is a massive wheely bin. So I do mine every 4 or 5 months. I pretend its a years worth if I see anyone.

No. 9 really struck a chord. :(

Hello top - what can we do to help reduce your bordom. Both my DCs will be in primary school in September and Im thinking that I could ACTUALLY GET SOME KIND OF PAID WORK!!! Paid! Just think of it. Somone paying me to do some work!

ilovemyelectricblanket · 04/04/2012 14:00

ps. I didnt drink last night and plan NOT to drink tonight....

Mouseface · 04/04/2012 14:50

Hi Mouse.
Did you manage kick any respite carers butts?

Mouseface · 04/04/2012 15:56

Blanket - I'm so glad you are still with us, your posts have been so much more positive, you seem so very alive with hope and you seem to understand your drinking so much more Smile xx

Our respite has been here today, apparently she does work over Easter but we hadn't had the letter saying so. So, no kicking of butts I'm afraid. Plus, little Nemo has another cold due to the turn in this bloody weather so he's fast asleep and snuggled up warm on the sofa whilst the builders try to get my kitchen ready for the spark tomorrow.

How are you feeling Blanket?

IsinDe - I hope that things are well with you. How are the plans for the wedding coming along?

I'm trying to catch up on Call The Midwife. Tears and laughter all the way Smile

How is everyone this (early) evening?

Can I channel Miflaw and kick any butts- anyone feel their resolve to not drink tonight wavering?

I'm feeling dynamic as my project was audited today and we were highly praised. I was a volunteer on the project and the funding has finished, so I really didn't have to stand up and be counted; it's the sort of thing I could not cope with before, so I feel a great sense of accomplishment.

Greyhound · 04/04/2012 16:48

Hi there all - Helpyourself great news about the project :)

I'm getting cravings :( Could murder a LARGE glass (or five) of cold white wine :( Will resist... I know that the cravings eventually go away. Might nip to M&S for some nice soft drinks.

Since giving up the booze (all of three days ago lol) I've been eating utter rubbish - curries, take aways, ice cream... anything to fill the gap...

Hi there Blanket - joining you in the "WILL NOT DRINK" resolve...

helpyourself · 04/04/2012 16:56

Thank you Greyhound.

Good idea re the soft drinks. Miflaw recommends Mars Bars as well- sweet to replace the alcohol sugars.

MsGee · 04/04/2012 17:51

Hello Babes!! I got the contract Smile and it's more work than i thought Grin although they reduced my day rate...

blanket I get the Bavaria wheat beer (can only find it in tesco). It comes in 6 little cans and is v nice. Not gassy and has a nice flavour.

In terms of sweet cravings ... Sweet cordial really helps me. Not the posh stuff Grin

Greyhound · 04/04/2012 18:01

Hmmm - might try the Bavaria beer non alcoholic stuff.

Fairenuff · 04/04/2012 18:13

Well done MsGee that will keep you out of mischief in the evenings Grin.

I have never tried non-alcoholic drink. Partly because I want to break the link from thinking I need that beer or wine (even if it's fake) but it does the trick for some I know. I would rather make a delicious cocktail, like venus suggested with fruit juice, sparkling water and crushed ice.

Today I made a fruit salad to nibble on - reasonably decent strawberries, grapes, melon, pineapple and little tinned mandarin oranges. Chilled. Absolutely gorgeous and very refreshing. I keep a bowl in the fridge on the wine salad shelf Grin

ilovemyelectricblanket · 04/04/2012 18:43

Well....
MrB came home and I went straight out (despite his protestations) and bought some rose wine, some soda water and some cranberry. Totally forgot about the non alchoholic beer.....
I have already poured the rose wine AND weirdly the cranberry and soda and both of them are looking at me while I look at them.
I want to drink it so badly.....
Its not even chilled (the rest of the bottle is in a bowl of iced water).
I just want to drink it and then be ... at rest? content? what is it im feeling...

Im officially a freak and a bit crap....

:(

Greyhound · 04/04/2012 18:48

You're not crap, B. my suggestion is to pour the rose back in the bottle and drink the soft drink. Give yourself fifteen mins and see how you feel. I feel your pain - I am so missing wine tonight :(

ilovemyelectricblanket · 04/04/2012 18:57

Thank you Greyhound. (watery slightly pathetic smile). I dont feel so alone now.
Ive put it in the frige Greyhound and pretending that its because Im being strong but the truth is Im waiting for it to chill.
WHY IS THIS SOOOO HARD?
You do it Greyhound. You can do it....
Ill keep on staving it off till hoepfully it passes.
Im drinking the cranberry and soda....

Fairenuff · 04/04/2012 19:24

Blanket step away from the fridge.

Do not touch the wine. Get your dh to hide it or tip it away. Why did you buy it anyway? I bet that voice was in your ear. You will feel so much happier if you don't drink it. Stay with us for a while, the feeling will pass x

Fairenuff · 04/04/2012 19:26

Or, if you have started already, stop. Get your dh to hide the rest of it or tip it away. Get the cranberry and soda chilling, or have a cup of tea x

Hopefullyrecovering · 04/04/2012 19:28

Pour the wine away blanket. Just pour it away. Then the bugger won't tempt you.

I have no alcohol barring whisky in the house. Whisky makes me feel sick so I know I won't drink it. Big big effort of will not to stop at the corner shop for a bottle or two of wine. Managed not to. Chewing the desk now though.

Lolabelle · 04/04/2012 19:36

This is beyond hard tonight. Trying with all my will....

Hopefullyrecovering · 04/04/2012 19:41

If you cave Lola I will cave too and you wouldn't want to be responsible for that

Keep going. Do some ironing. Iron your socks. Distract yourself.

Fairenuff · 04/04/2012 19:44

Right c'mon babes we are made of sterner stuff than this. You do not have to drink and the sooner you accept that the sooner the craving will go, I promise you. It's just a few hours til bedtime. You can go a few hours without a drink. Anyone can, so stop arsing about and get serious Grin.

Now to pass the time I have a game. I spy with my little eye something beginning with 'S'. I'm pretty sure you can all see this wherever you are, it's that easy. Guesses anyone?

Grin
Greyhound · 04/04/2012 19:53

It's so hard, isn't it. I do miss the buzz of wine. I have resisted but I keep seeing ads on tv for wine... I will resist.

helpyourself · 04/04/2012 19:55

Is it a screen Faire?Grin

helpyourself · 04/04/2012 19:56

Just to run through the drill- brush teeth, get into non-going out clothes- PJs, run bath, phone a friend, post here...

Fairenuff · 04/04/2012 20:00

Nope, not screen.

Greyhound if I could have the buzz of wine without the hangover it would be worth it but unfortunately the two go together and I hate that gross, dried out, tired, naseuous, crap feeling the hangover gives me. For me, it's not worth the buzz.
