Hello and a Happy New Year!

I'm Mouse, one of the passengers on this wonderful journey to sobriety! Smile

We are a real mixed bunch of people, all trying to control or give up the booze - ONE DAY AT A TIME.

Come meet the others.........

And here are the previous threads, the journeys so far

desire morning to you! Well done for getting through all these social events without booze. Day 17 is a great achievement. Be proud!

desiretochange · 17/01/2011 10:03

Morning Red, am normally very anti-social but had such a shitty time over Christmas that I am forcing myself to get "out into the world" Hmm

RedMoomin · 17/01/2011 10:21

desire I can be very antisocial at times. In fact I do actually need a lot of time on my own or I will go mad! However I do also like going out and meeting people. But well done you for getting out there. It's a really good thing to do x

jesuswhatnext · 17/01/2011 10:42

morning everyone!

just a quick look in, am at the office being 'in charge' as dh now has my awful lurgy! Sad - god, what a bloody start to the year!

anyway, have a good day all you wonderful babes!

see you later!

RedMoomin · 17/01/2011 10:44

JWN oh no! I hope that DH feels better soon. How are you doing?

jesuswhatnext · 17/01/2011 10:50

im fine thanks red, feeling loads better - 7 and a half months sober! Grin, do you know what, the the thought of have a hangover is horrific! - tonight is a first, i am hosting at my house a meeting for the ladies from AA, its not offical as such, just that quite a few wanted to have the freedom to speak without the men there and my house is the most appropraite (no small dcs etc), then on friday we are all going out for a meal - i really feel like i have made some good friends!

RedMoomin · 17/01/2011 10:57

JWN that sounds lovely for tonight and for Friday. Have fun and if I know AA-ers you will do! And well bloody done on 7 and a half months sober. I know that when I did my 11 months or whatever it was I never felt better even though my marriage was already coming apart at the seams. I had certainly not looked as good for a long time either Grin

desiretochange · 17/01/2011 11:21

Wow JWN congrats on 7½ months sober:)

RedMoomin · 17/01/2011 11:50

Is it lunchtime yet?? Clearly got the bloody hangover munchies. Grrrr. Only myself to blame.

desiretochange · 17/01/2011 11:58

Hungry here too Red but am on Day 2 of diet so not surprising Hmm

Mouseface · 17/01/2011 12:17

Afternoon Brave Babes.

Nice to see Silver popping in Smile

JWN - 7.5 months is utterly amazing! Well bloody done you.

Hey Red - stodge for lunch for you my girl.

desire - are you following any particular plan or not? Get your backside over to the LIGHT thread so we can all push each other to lose some weight.

I'm just under 10st but want to be 9.4/9.6 by the end of Feb.

I really need to get my furry little butt into action Grin

Am trying calorie controlled, we have a television programme in Ireland which lasts about 8 weeks called "Operation Transformation" and am trying to follow that. Reckon I have about 2 stone to lose Mouse Blush

Anonymousbird · 17/01/2011 12:46

Morning all.
After Saturday's wobble, I am back on track, so this is now Day 7. I can't count Sunday as a "Day" because I did have two small glasses of wine at PIL's (as I had planned) with the family meal. Nothing when I got home though, which seeing as I was home by 8pm I was pleased with.

Anyway, it's a busy busy day, was on parade for important meeting at 8am this morning and brief break now to make some calls and then out on errands/DC duty/various other things until nearly 7pm. So talk tomorrow I suspect!

Have a good afternoon, Babes.

RedMoomin · 17/01/2011 13:06

mouse the last time I was under 10 stone I was 18!! I am not built to be that light or that's what I tell myself Grin

Mouseface · 17/01/2011 13:15

Red Grin how's your head?

desire - You can do it. Slowly and without starving yourself.

I'm trying to eat around 1000 cals per day instead of the recommended 2000.

And add in a touch of gentle toning exercise.

Bird - well done you! That's great control Smile

Off to make a dust salad Grin

Hi all. Hope you're all fine.
Desire Well done on getting to day 17 and being miss sociable Grin

Desire and Mouse let's lose weight together. I want to lose 10 lbs. Have lost about 2 so far Hmm

Red Hope you're feeling a bit better now

JWN Glad you're feeling better. Sorry about your Dh with the lurgy though Sad

Right. I'd better get back to work 'see' you later Grin

RedMoomin · 17/01/2011 13:24

Thanks all, still feeling rough but am OK. Had about 4000 sandwiches at lunchtime so that has helped! (On a weight-losing note I lost 2 stone in about 8 months by eating 1300-1500 calories a day, no booze and a bit of walking.)

desiretochange · 17/01/2011 14:36

Am hoping the not drinking will kick-start the old metabolism, methinks you might be exaggerating a little bit about what you ate at lunchtime Red:):)

jesuswhatnext · 17/01/2011 14:37

mouse - where is the 'lighter' thread?, i would like to have a peak!

jesuswhatnext · 17/01/2011 14:37

or is that 'peek'? Confused Grin

desiretochange · 17/01/2011 14:51

Hi JWN, can't do links Blush but thread is in General Health and called "Trim, Slim, Light, Bright for 2011"

jesuswhatnext · 17/01/2011 15:12

thanks desire!, dont worry btw, i cant do links either! Grin

desiretochange · 17/01/2011 15:16

Know there are some great chefs on this thread so has anyone a cheap and cheerful recipe for pepper soup?

RedMoomin · 17/01/2011 15:38

desire yes was exaggerating about my lunch. Only had 3,999 sanwiches Grin And no idea re soup but I am sure that someone who does know will be along shortly!

jesuswhatnext · 17/01/2011 16:01

desire - i would

chop onion

chop pepper

cook without colouring in a bit of oil and butter

add chopped garlic/salt/pepper

add veg stock

add any veg maybe past its best (bendy carrots/parsnips)

add couple of potatos for thickness

simmer for 20 mins

whizz up with a wizzer
