How do you feel about prostitution?

Hello everyone, I have name changed for this(no sinister reason) but i do post on here from time to time.

Anyway, I would love to know what your thoughts are on prostitution. I don't mean political views and I dont really want to get into a discussion on whether girls are trafficked, pimped, druggies. Just what you think as a whole.

I am talking about girls who willing become escorts or work in massage parlours under the guise of 'masseuses' when really they provide extras.

What do you think of men who see them? Are that losers, sad and lonely, 'sex addicts'or what? Would you think your dp/dh was cheating if he saw a prostitute.

I ask just out of curiosity, I do not think my dp has ever visited a prostitute! Also, apparently 1 in 10 men see prostitutes. Do you agree with this. If this is true what hope do we all have eh?

My take is that i belive some girls use their looks to earn money an 'easy' way. By easy, I mean that they do not have to train for yrs to get a decent paid job, or they do not have to work 9 to 5 in an office when they can earn a wks wages in a day.

I have asked my own dp and he beleives that there is something missing from a relationship if a man sees a prostitute.Obviously its different with a single man. He also thinks that some men have issues sexually with their wives/partners and are inhibited. Therefore, that is why they pay for sex acts that they can't ask for at home. These are exactly my thoughts.Anyone agree or disagree?

I'd like your thoughts or experiences!

But surely prostitutes know that there's a reason these men can't get sex the normal way (from their wives, for example). Because they can't be bothered treating women like human beings and they are only interested in themselves.

quizling · 12/11/2010 22:00

Oh my God, it's the spooks isn't it.

You do know me (on here). If someone sent you the PM I can guess who it was. But it doesn't really explain why I would be illogically biased towards prostitutes. I never posted about prostitution Confused. I posted about a relationship 'issue' but I don't see the connection?

SabrinaYork · 12/11/2010 22:01

Misogyny is not just men hatred towards woman, the hatred you are showing me and my 'sisters' is misogyny at its very very best.

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 12/11/2010 22:01

So in the world of prostitution what does misogyny look like?

OFFS · 12/11/2010 22:03

Sakura, here's some infoon men who buy sex. Hope it helps. :)

SabrinaYork · 12/11/2010 22:03

Oh trust me I know there are misogynistic punters out there, fortunately they are not the type to purchase my services, but I will say the clients that DO come and see me have MUCH more respect than shown on here.

SabrinaYork · 12/11/2010 22:04

Anyway I have a bottle of wine to open and a snuggle on the couch with the man and the cats.

I bid you all a good night x

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 12/11/2010 22:04

Hatred? is that what this looks like? You come to a place you know to be filled with people that rather wish there was no place for your 'career', where people are bought and sold, and you talk of your wonderful life, having sex for money with husbands, sons, brothers, uncles and you expect a welcome?

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 12/11/2010 22:07

"the clients that DO come and see me have MUCH more respect than shown on here." It's an exchange, they want to fuck you, they give you money and they need to believe that you're with them because you want to...that's why the money exchange is not done half way. I can imagine that the money is not really part of the event, so everyone can pretend it hasn't happened.

quizling · 12/11/2010 22:07

You can have sex with my brother, if you want. Probably can't afford you though

taxi!

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 12/11/2010 22:10

So now quiz is a pimp, nice.

mustincreasebust · 12/11/2010 22:11

If anyone provides me with a shred of evidence (proper evidence pls) that the majority of prostitutes enjoy a safe and happy working conditions I would take a live and let live stand. The reality is unfortunately like Fimbo describers and most women (and men) that later become prostitutes have been sexually abused in early life.

Trolls from PN (most of whom seem to be the punters) dismissing accounts given by police officers and registered charities doesn't wash sorry.

Actually this thread has been wasted. We could have had an interesting conversation but the 'pin money' and 'take care of your husbands or we will' type shite killed any hope of good discourse.

SabrinaYork · 12/11/2010 22:11

Oh yes I take the cash upfront so we can get on with our 'date' with that out the way!

Ps Another part of the wonderful world that is Whoredome you are most likely unaware of.....not all men want to fuck.

Fibilou · 12/11/2010 22:12

Sabrina, I am glad that you are able to pick and choose your clients. Lucky for you; lots of girls aren't so lucky and have to take whatever business comes their way. I find the "glamorising" of prostitution by programmes like the Billie Piper one, novels about Belle de Jour etc really offensive in that it implies that prostitution is a jolly, fun little career and it's fuddy duddies and "feminazis" that disapprove of it because they aren't sophisticated enough to "get it".

Now do you really think this is the truth for the girls advertising "fun at Charlies, Central Eastbourne" that is in my friday ad this week ? The courtesan lifestyle might apply to some but the vast majority work in depressing massage parlours or on the street and to imply anything else is bullshit.

I think the misogyny of the prostitutes on here towards women in general is very obvious. THey don't like women, because they are used to being in the company of people who don't like women, and that is very said.

Why have you decided mumsnet women are the enemy instead of society and the punters, I have no idea. Punternet prostitutes need to save their bile for the men who use them.

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 12/11/2010 22:15

Sabrina, your posts are more revealing than you attempt to conjure. The cash upfront is exactly how I expect, no big fuss then everyone can pretend that noone is there because of the fee. He can pretend to treat you like the woman he doesn't have and you can pretend he's there because he likes you. Perfect.

Sakura · 12/11/2010 22:16

sad

mustincreasebust · 12/11/2010 22:16

Fimbo = Fibilou Blush

OFFS · 12/11/2010 22:16

mustincreasebust If you really want to know about the "indoor" sex business, read this.

I am neither a troll nor a punter; I am a regular MNer.

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 12/11/2010 22:17

It's the same person as that terribly flawed research.

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 12/11/2010 22:18

If I wanted to have a job tomorrow I wouldn't need to read up on a heap of arguments ready for people against the job, unless I was causing harm.

OFFS · 12/11/2010 22:19

Teela Sanders? What flawed research? She's a highly-respected academic. What's your problem with her?

SabrinaYork · 12/11/2010 22:20

Fibilou,
I am well aware there is an underbelly to the industry, which I also admit is a million miles away from where I am, possibly I am being snug and blinkered as I have not experienced it, but I also know that there are also a lot of massaged figures to suit various agendas, I take your honest word for what you have seen going on, and I thank god to myself I am not in that position.
But is prostitution the primary concern?
And I am very aware that there are some men that will take advantage of various addictions for cheap thrills, I can assure you that those aspects of the industry I find hard to stomach.

Night x

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 12/11/2010 22:21

Did you read the criticisms or just focus on useless research.
