How do you feel about prostitution?

Hello everyone, I have name changed for this(no sinister reason) but i do post on here from time to time.

Anyway, I would love to know what your thoughts are on prostitution. I don't mean political views and I dont really want to get into a discussion on whether girls are trafficked, pimped, druggies. Just what you think as a whole.

I am talking about girls who willing become escorts or work in massage parlours under the guise of 'masseuses' when really they provide extras.

What do you think of men who see them? Are that losers, sad and lonely, 'sex addicts'or what? Would you think your dp/dh was cheating if he saw a prostitute.

I ask just out of curiosity, I do not think my dp has ever visited a prostitute! Also, apparently 1 in 10 men see prostitutes. Do you agree with this. If this is true what hope do we all have eh?

My take is that i belive some girls use their looks to earn money an 'easy' way. By easy, I mean that they do not have to train for yrs to get a decent paid job, or they do not have to work 9 to 5 in an office when they can earn a wks wages in a day.

I have asked my own dp and he beleives that there is something missing from a relationship if a man sees a prostitute.Obviously its different with a single man. He also thinks that some men have issues sexually with their wives/partners and are inhibited. Therefore, that is why they pay for sex acts that they can't ask for at home. These are exactly my thoughts.Anyone agree or disagree?

I'd like your thoughts or experiences!

"My take is that i belive some girls use their looks to earn money an 'easy' way."

Well, I used to be a police officer and still work for hte police. As such I have come across quite a lot of prostitutes. I've never met one that did it as a great way to earn lots of money. Every single one, without exception, has been completely drug addled and reduced to prostitution to feed their habits. In my experience the men that visit prostitutes are revolting, quite often in advanced drug dependency and I certainly wouldn't ever countenance having sex with them. I'd love to show you the photos of some of the "service users" I've seen and ask you if you'd fancy giving them a blowjob for a tenner (the going rate where I live for a street prostitute).
When I was very young in service I went to a robbery at a brothel - a client tried to stab the prostitute after he finished, then held the madam at knifepoint then ran off with the takings.
Yes, prostitution is a really easy way to earn money

quizling · 12/11/2010 21:47

No, I don't get it. Another go?

Fibilou · 12/11/2010 21:47

Oh and believe me, most of the "girls" are in an advanced stage of heroin/crack addiction. they don't have any looks left.

OFFS · 12/11/2010 21:47

It's not an MN obsession with PN, it's only yours, dittany.

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 12/11/2010 21:47

OFFS I have no idea who you are, or MissH.

quizling · 12/11/2010 21:48

Yes but Filibou presumably you were only called when there was a problem? So you probably have only seen one sector of it

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 12/11/2010 21:49

quiz....ever have the police over to you whilst you pour over accounts? Is rape part of the risk in your job?

OFFS · 12/11/2010 21:49

Were these women street workers, Fibilou? That's really more of a drugs issue (and, imvho, to do with appalling standards in our care of "looked after" children, but that's another thread.)

SabrinaYork · 12/11/2010 21:50

I understand the confusion but I'm not paying you, so you are allowed an opinion.

That is a shame I cater for woman and couples also.

OFFS · 12/11/2010 21:50

Thank you for not going, quiz. :)

quizling · 12/11/2010 21:50

Is that a clue?

No, we don't often get the police over. There was Enron, but that was ages ago and it's much tamer now.

Fibilou · 12/11/2010 21:50

I can't remember the statistics but the vast, overwhelming majority of UK prostitutes are street hookers. The "propaganda" that there are lots of high end courtesans living a Pretty Woman existence is nonsense and completely insults the lives lived by the vast majority of women that are either serious druggies or traffiked workers kept as sex slaves

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 12/11/2010 21:51

I don't need you Sabrina.

We did the drug addict and trafficked bit before.

I am going in a bit, OFFS. Just saying that now in case Posie makes a random stab and then thinks she was right because I don't answer. I'm sure you'll be fine without me! We are already going round the arguments for a second time, in a minute we'll get back to the bit about prostitutes breaking up relationships and just afer that the thread will get full

Fibilou, most of the research that has been done on prostitution in the Uk has been on streetworkers. About this time last year I did a quick check and found that Scot-PEP (who worked mainly with street workers in Edinburgh) were in contact with approximately 100 women. I found three or four times that number advertising in Edinburgh on Adultwork, and then when you add in those who work indie, those who work agency, and those who work in brothels/parlours/saunas, I'm pretty sure there are many, many more "indoor" sex workers than streetworkers.

Can anyone be bothered taking time away from this thread to check it out?

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 12/11/2010 21:54

I think I'm right when you answer too, quiz.

SabrinaYork · 12/11/2010 21:54

Unlike Punternet, this place isn't a) insane or b) a cesspit of misogyny.

I disagree with point a) and point b) but what would I know?

OFFS · 12/11/2010 21:55

Dittany, how can you describe what we're doing as "trolling"?

Sabrina...do enlighten us with the Mumsnet misogyny section.

OFFS · 12/11/2010 21:56

No, dittany, I am a prostitute.

quizling · 12/11/2010 21:56

Honestly, just tell me who you think you are. If you're right I'll tell you, scouts' honour.

Let's play hot or cold while I'm waiting for my taxi.

Do you think I am involved in the sex industry?
(you answer hot, cold, lukewarm etc)

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 12/11/2010 21:57

quiz....I'm not playing, someone lurking sent me a PM.
