How do you feel about prostitution?

Hello everyone, I have name changed for this(no sinister reason) but i do post on here from time to time.

Anyway, I would love to know what your thoughts are on prostitution. I don't mean political views and I dont really want to get into a discussion on whether girls are trafficked, pimped, druggies. Just what you think as a whole.

I am talking about girls who willing become escorts or work in massage parlours under the guise of 'masseuses' when really they provide extras.

What do you think of men who see them? Are that losers, sad and lonely, 'sex addicts'or what? Would you think your dp/dh was cheating if he saw a prostitute.

I ask just out of curiosity, I do not think my dp has ever visited a prostitute! Also, apparently 1 in 10 men see prostitutes. Do you agree with this. If this is true what hope do we all have eh?

My take is that i belive some girls use their looks to earn money an 'easy' way. By easy, I mean that they do not have to train for yrs to get a decent paid job, or they do not have to work 9 to 5 in an office when they can earn a wks wages in a day.

I have asked my own dp and he beleives that there is something missing from a relationship if a man sees a prostitute.Obviously its different with a single man. He also thinks that some men have issues sexually with their wives/partners and are inhibited. Therefore, that is why they pay for sex acts that they can't ask for at home. These are exactly my thoughts.Anyone agree or disagree?

I'd like your thoughts or experiences!

I think Shirley Knot is twisting herself in knots.

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 11/11/2010 14:44

Trip trap trip trap.

MissHoneyMoon · 11/11/2010 14:44

What a truly mesmerising read! But could those enlightened members please point me to the right thread where I can find a pattern to sew scarlet letters and how to construct a branding iron. I feel we need to do this properly and brand those pesky whores... Where and when will the angry lynch mob congregate and go after those men stealing prossies? Who is providing the pitchforks?

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 11/11/2010 14:46

another fuckwit using the word prossie.....jesus christ.

msmont · 11/11/2010 14:50

bless you posie , the swearing is so becoming...boring cant you get your point across without using profanities
:o)

MissHoneyMoon · 11/11/2010 14:53

Well, ?tis one of the names I apply to myself. A bit like other stigmatised and publicly abused groups, we can use those terms that have been thrown at us as abuse and wear it proudly.

I take it you will be the one bringing the petrol and matches?

watchandlearn · 11/11/2010 14:53

Sorry possie, do you prefer I should call you fuckwit then? Oh no, that's my name. fuck bucket then?

Lou4fun and oledragon if you really are trained masseuses then why do you wank me off at the end?

Is the OP a bloke? I thought it was a woman. WHy is the OP talking about being wanked off.
Is everyone here off punternet???

No it transpires that BillieH is a punter from Punternet that was trying to make out he is a woman (non wg) that posts on the PN forum. As he purchases our services make of that as you will.

Personally I do not blame the reaction of you ladies, you only know what you are shown, and as the media portrays us as, it is undisputed that there are seedier elements to this industry that disgust 'even us'.

It is in your comfort zone to think of us all like that, but being challenged with reality makes you feel threatened so you lash out. (really unnecessarily given the very small percentage of men that visit prostitutes)

You are merely woman protecting your own of which you cannot be blamed for.

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 11/11/2010 14:53

Are you hoping to feel validated by 'moral' guardians? Or is there another reason to come on this forum?

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 11/11/2010 14:57

However you wish to sell it prostitution is bad for the soul.

msmont · 11/11/2010 14:59

I like the recipies on here thats one reason I come on here, also the fact that I am a mum so therefore I am entiltled to come onto mumsnet
but you dont like that do you..well tough !

SabrinaYork · 11/11/2010 14:59

After all statistically it is more likely one of you lovely ladies is having sexual relations with my SO while I think he is at work :)

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 11/11/2010 15:00

msmont....I feel sorry for your child.

msmont · 11/11/2010 15:00

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 11/11/2010 15:01

msmont · 11/11/2010 15:03

msmont · 11/11/2010 15:05

like posting bile on a message forum ..all day !
how do you get your housework done , i feel sorry for you

MissHoneyMoon · 11/11/2010 15:08

Sorry I just had to double check I had not accidentally stumbled into the Daily (Hate) Mail Readers Section here Posie petal.

It really does not take long for the insults and moralising to bubble to the surface. Where does all this hatred and insecurity towards sex workers really come from? Funny isn?t it that independent freedom seeking women in past centuries have been labelled whores. In fact a well know non consecrated burial ground for ?single women? is synonym for prostitutes who had to pay the church for licences to work but were refused any empathy and Christian love. So very sad to read this thread and realise so very little seems to have changed. Still the same brand of misguided pity and vitriol for those unrepentant harlots...

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 11/11/2010 15:10

It really does not take long for the insults and moralising to bubble to the surface.

What is this discussion if not about morality? Insecurity? Is that how you justify the condemnation of sex work? That we're all insecure? funny funny funny.

Sakura · 11/11/2010 15:11

GOYS, your posts have been fascinating.

And..that link to reviews on punternet... just the way they speak of women...these men really don't like women...

loopylou6 · 11/11/2010 15:14

Posie, I really think its a case of live and let live, its not fair to be aiming low blows at these women just because you dont approve of their choice of career.

And as for the ex prostitute, well I think you are being proper self righteous, you've been there done it and yes, now you have gave it up but given that you have no business firing off abuse to the ladies who are still working.

Really its like a juvenile witch hunt Hmm

Sakura · 11/11/2010 15:16

live and let live? Why is everyone off PUNTERnet on MUMSnet then?

Sakura · 11/11/2010 15:18

witchhunt...this thread has been started by a punter, a bloke.
Historically, mothers haven't been known for witchunting blokes. It's the other way round.

msmont · 11/11/2010 15:19

cos some are mums as well !

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 11/11/2010 15:19

Live and let live? Tell that to the trafficked, addicted, coerced prostitutes that are victims of the industry these people feel so proud of. As long as sex can be bought it can be stolen.
