Brave Battling Babes - Booze No More!!

Mouseface · 30/07/2010 23:47

Well, thanks to the refreshingly honest and inspirational JesusWhatNext - this is the third thread, for the battle to beat the booze for all of those who are on the path to do so.

Some are sober, some are trying to be and some are still drinking.

I'm Mouse, I'm new to this and I'm scared. So, come and join the journey.

If you keep trying something and it doesn't work, try something else. I am off now but there is an Einstein quote there that I will post later from work.

MissPerrier · 06/08/2010 12:16

RedMoomin yes it is. You are all great. I hope I can be helpful to someone, somehow too. Its because you are all so supportive of each other and welcoming that I have boldly posted.

Mouseface · 06/08/2010 12:19

Thanks MIFLAW. I guess that last post of mine was very erm, well, a bliknered view! An assumption. And wrong of me too.

Don't knock it till you've tried it I guess!!

MIFLAW · 06/08/2010 12:19

Algee

Hope you are well and not giving up hope.

Don't take this the wrong way but are you sure you are taking your problem seriously enough? I mean, are you hoping that something is just going to "happen" and you will suddenly be cured? I hate to say it, but it won't. The ace king queen of the problem drinker's life are death, prison, and sectioning - I'm afraid it doesn't just go away.

I you really sure you want to let being "proud and stubborn" keep you behind the wheel of that particular car rather than accepting help?

MIFLAW · 06/08/2010 12:21

"If you keep trying something and it doesn't work, try something else."

Exactly true - which is how I eventually came to AA!

Toclearmyhead · 06/08/2010 12:24

MissP - I only stumbled across this thread on Monday and it has been amazing knowing it's here. Everyone has been so lovely and supportive.

:o

RedMoomin · 06/08/2010 12:52

MissP and toclear you have already helped people on here by posting - and others who are even now lurking and getting up the nerve/ energy to post. Hopefully others can see that it's not scary!

algee give us a little wave if you feel up to it. You are not forgotten!

RedMoomin · 06/08/2010 12:53

I have to say I feel almost communist with my new name Grin !

Fortheverylasttime · 06/08/2010 12:57

There are aa folks available 24/7 on Molly's in Delphi forums.

RedMoomin · 06/08/2010 13:09

Thanks for that forthe. At the moment with my 4 AA meetings a week, text and phone calls with AA friends and the wonderful computer fairies here I feel very supported but I will bear it mind for the future!

Fortheverylasttime · 06/08/2010 13:16

All different strokes for folks!

Some people don't want to go to real life meetings and that site is international, so
it's there if you want it. Will keep posting alternatives.

Fortheverylasttime · 06/08/2010 13:24

Molly's on delphi is not an aa site, but they go by aa guidelines. Just to point out that they are not an aa site.

RedMoomin · 06/08/2010 13:25

christi - any word lovely?

RedMoomin · 06/08/2010 13:35

Just wanted to let you all know that I have just texted the newcomer who was subjected to a baptism of fire at her first AA meeting last night and although she can't make it tonight she is going to come with me on Monday. Phew! Hopefully she will get to experience a 'normal' meeting! (I feel like I have a bit of a spring in my step now. Although I will not repeat yesterday's 'scamper' around the office in case I fall over again Blush )

Mouseface · 06/08/2010 13:46

I quite like that, thank you! What are you up to this afternoon then mouse?

venusandmars · 06/08/2010 13:55

Afternoon everyone, just been for coffee with a friend. Lovely morning feeling bright and happy.

It's been good reading all this mornings posts.

JWN you posted: "i would like to state here and now that if i dont reply personally to everyone it is because i am becoming totally befuddled and cannot keep up! grin please dont forget that i am old and have drunk away many brain cells - i am also the mother of a teenager which has very much the same effect! grin". Ditto for me, except I am a couple of years ahead and in addition to teenager I have one dd who has escaped that reached her 20s. I am still in recovery from her teens!

Love the new name redmoomin, what would happen if we all had names based on our hair types:
redmoomin
redmouse
blondejesus
rabbitvenus

anyone else? bald MIFLAW? ponytailed MIFLAW?

MissPerrier · 06/08/2010 13:55

Toclear Yes I know what you mean. I'm glad thats a happy tear.
RedMoomin Thanks you scampering nearly redhead you!

RedMoomin · 06/08/2010 13:58

venus - I just started laughing when I saw rabbitvenus! You will get mouse all over-excited again when she sees the word rabbit is back!

See, it's easy to post and join in, isn't it MissP? Smile

venusandmars · 06/08/2010 14:00

JWN (or blondejesus) how about making risotto or paella with your stock (btw, is it Nigel stock?). My favourite risotto has peas and spinach and langoustines. And my other favourite (but not with chicken stock) is smoked haddock and green beans. I poach the haddock in milk and water and use the poaching liquid as stock, it adds a deep smoky taste through the rice, then just add the fish back in at the end.

Mouseface · 06/08/2010 14:00

I've just shredded with DD!! Wow, she actually wanted to be with me.

Now we're having lunch and watching CDWM - down under. Recorded it last week......

Not a patch on the UK one!!

Are you ok? Smile
