Brave Battling Babes - Booze No More!!

Mouseface · 30/07/2010 23:47

Well, thanks to the refreshingly honest and inspirational JesusWhatNext - this is the third thread, for the battle to beat the booze for all of those who are on the path to do so.

Some are sober, some are trying to be and some are still drinking.

I'm Mouse, I'm new to this and I'm scared. So, come and join the journey.

mouse - God, it's so good to hear you feeling so upbeat and positive! And you're so right about not projecting about the weekend. One day at a time!

Mouseface · 03/08/2010 10:29

Moomin

Hello. How are you?

OP posts:
jesuswhatnext · 03/08/2010 10:33

WE WILL NOT BE DRINKING!

Mouseface · 03/08/2010 10:38

WE MOST CERTAINLY WILL NOT!!!

OP posts:
MoominMags · 03/08/2010 10:44

NO DRINKING HERE EITHER!

Hi mouse, I am good thanks. Today is a good day, feeling positive and just getting on with life really. The bliss of being hangover free still hits me quite often and it's such a fantastic feeling! How's your boy today? Is your DD still with friends?

Mouseface · 03/08/2010 10:55

DD is ok, yesterday was bully free so that's a plus. One of the said bullies is on holiday. I may say something to her mother when she gets back if it carries on.

DS had a shocking night and morning so far. The washer has been on three times! Bloomin' severe reflux is no fun.

Thank you for asking.

I plan to give my exercise dvd's a dust off later. I have to go easy..... my physio has said to be very gentle. I'm hoping not to have to renew my disability (DLA) in the new year. I want to be mended!!!

I just have SO much energy and it's only been a day!!!!!

Do you know, I didn't even miss it. Odd. I thought I'd be climbing the walls by 7pm.

MoominMags · 03/08/2010 11:09

It's lovely to hear you feeling so well mouse. And do not overdo it with the exercise! As with everything at the moment, take it easy.

Must be very difficult with DS - washing on 3 times already? And you're still positive? Fantastic! And your poor DD. Bloody girls can be such a nightmare. Ugh.

I am sure you will find as time goes by you will be able to deal with everything that comes along even better than before! Which is bloody great!

Mouseface · 03/08/2010 11:17

Thank you. I feel so different already. I thought it would take days to feel alive again. Yes, that's it.....

I feel ALIVE!! Bring on the shit you have for me today world, I'm ready!!!!!

Oh, washer is beeping....another load done, next!!!

Be back later to see if CTS has checked in after her interview and how everyone else is.

MIFLAW if you read this, thank you. You most of all, made me realise that pickling is best left for small onions, not internal organs!

OP posts:
MoominMags · 03/08/2010 11:31

to mouse!

MIFLAW · 03/08/2010 11:35

"the MIFLAW approach (I am not drinking today)"

Just call me Bill Wilson.

Mouseface · 03/08/2010 11:45

MIFLAW

As in this - Metro Ministries - Bill Wilson?

OP posts:
MIFLAW · 03/08/2010 11:49

Mouse

You're welcome - and thank you too. You reminded me why I don't drink - I shall store it up in case i am ever tempted.

Maybe this is a man thing, but one of the ways I visualise my alcoholism is in terms of being a boy at primary school. There is always one boy who, while not exactly a bully, is big and rough and likes to fight for fun. He never comes after you, never provokes you - but every time you go up to him and challenge him to a fight, he knocks you all over the shop and everyone laughs at you.

In AA it dawned on me that all I had to do was to stop asking him for a fight. The boy is alcohol - but it was my alcoholISM that made me go looking for him, even when I knew he would beat the crap out of me; and AA that showed me that, if I didn't get in the ring, I would be safe, happy and unharmed.

But what's nearly impossible to do with boys like that is start the fight, throw a couple of jabs, and then say, "actually, I'm bored, can I go now?"

MIFLAW · 03/08/2010 11:52

Jesus suffering fuck, no! I may be many things, but I am certainly not 2pastor material" - the agnosticism gets in the way, you see ...

Bill Wilson was one of the co-founders of AA. A common way of asking someone if they are in AA without being blatant (in case anyone's listening or in case they're actually not) is to say, "are you a friend of Bill W?" or "do you know Bill Wilson?"

The other co-founder was Dr Bob, fact fans.

Mouseface · 03/08/2010 12:24

!!!

Ah, that Mr Wilson.

I am pleased to hear that MIFLAW as I have an immense fear of going to church....... I always expect to spontaneously combust into flames the second I cross the threshold!!

OP posts:
TrinityRhino · 03/08/2010 12:25

me too mouse

Mouseface · 03/08/2010 12:29

Hey Trinity!

You ok today? How's your cut arm?

OP posts:
MIFLAW · 03/08/2010 12:30

My fear is more that they will not notice i've turned up and rush to ask me how I've been for the last 2,000 years

MIFLAW · 03/08/2010 12:31

THAT Mr Wilson was an immense God-botherer too, incidentally - but he and the other old-timers let people like me off the hook by allowing us to choose our own conception of a Higher Power rather than insisting we be in any way religious.

So thanks for that, Bill.

MoominMags · 03/08/2010 12:43

You're very funny MIFLAW!

trinity - how's it going?

TrinityRhino · 03/08/2010 13:14

I'm fine thanks
daaaay 5
and feeling good about it

algee · 03/08/2010 13:15

afternoon all, MIFLAW mouse and Trinity who I haven't 'seen' yet today.

It's going to be ok here...just a blip, feeling positive (if slightly hairless)

Glad you all sound so 'up' too!

MoominMags · 03/08/2010 13:18

How's the hairdo algee? Are you happy with it?!

Great to hear trinity!

algee · 03/08/2010 13:21

short but hung on to a long fringe thing as a comfort blanket!

Mouse, hope you haven't had to do any more washing today!

Mouseface · 03/08/2010 13:29

Nope, washing all done, windows cleaned, DH fed and watered, DD out, DS asleep, me eating wholemeal ham salad pitta and snack-a-jacks, with my secondpint of water, watching House.

Happy!!!

OP posts:
MoominMags · 03/08/2010 13:31

Wow that all sounds brilliant mouse!

In order to get a better picture in my head I need to know if you are blonde or brunette algee? (Or redhead or anything else for that matter!)
