Hayley Doherty has acting credits on IMDB dating back to 2004. Lives on a narrowboat, or used to. Also works as a jazz singer. I can see nothing in the teasers above that hints at what brings Diane into TA, but I wonder if she might be a midwife. Can't be long now till Amber's due date.

Hayley Doherty - IMDb Hayley Doherty is known for Coronation Street (1960), Outlander (2014) and Peaky Blinders (2013).

I think the "1960" there must be the age of the programme not when she appeared in it? Because she was in two episodes in 2016 and 2018, according to later on that page, as a spa attendant and as Susan Maplecroft whoever she was. (Coronation Street wiki tells me a school teacher but I am none the wiser.)

"Known for" seems to be a bit of a puff: one episode in each of three other television programmes, two of the characters she played not even having names.

She graduated from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in 2004.

Lily went to Australia for three weeks or possibly as long as a month over Christmas, when the flights out and back would be really cheap.

Ha! The 12-year-old scriptwriters strike again. That said, I did once get a very good deal on a trip to Auckland by spending Christmas Day in midair/transit lounges.

I've just fallen down a rabbit hole with Google AI as I made a mistake of asking it when Lily was last in the cast (it was when Dane left and Ian got the manager job). That was a bit dull so I started asking about Freddie. I am sure this is all rubbish, but it would be rather good if this is why the Cruck Barn has come into the storylines:

Instead, the scriptwriters opted for a structure that gives the independent trust complete control over the timeline:

• The Trustees' Discretion: The legal framework of the Lower Loxley Hall Trust dictates that the estate will only be transferred to Freddie if and when the trustees formally agree he is responsible enoughto handle it. 1, 2]
• The Post-Prison Block: Because the trustees hold total power, Freddie's drug dealing conviction and subsequent prison sentence gave them a concrete legal reason to freeze the transfer. Even though Freddie turned 25 in late 2024, the trustees have continuously refused to sign over the property, keeping it locked in the trust. 1, 2, 3]
• The Timeline Friction: This specific legal roadblock is exactly why the storyline feels drawn out. Fans frequently debate on forums like Reddit and Mumsnet why a nearly 27-year-old Freddie is still struggling for basic authority on his own family estate. 1, 2]

This ongoing delay is precisely what drives his current summer desperation to make a success of the new barn renovations—he needs to legally prove his maturity to a board of trustees who still view him as a liability.1, 2]

Perhaps the writers are just using AI to come up with storylines?

Now someone explain to me why any father would leave his entire property for his son to inherit only when a lot of people the father doesn't know decide to hand it over? In effect, give it to a bunch of strangers indefinitely? I'm sure they get paid for administering the estate, which they seem to do very badly and not when it was really needed because Elizabeth was having a breakdown and the place was going bust.

There have been new trustees since Nigel's death, and Nigel would not have known any of them.

It's high time Freddie had a chat with a competent lawyer who knows about inheritance – ie not bloody Usha, who was responsible for Freddie going to prison in the first place by giving his mother really bad advice about his plea which Elizabeth then bullied him into following.

(Lily was last listed as being in the cast in the week starting on 8/3/2026, and before that the week starting 7/12/2025.)

Perhaps he thought that Freddie might be overcome with having it at a young age and might squander it so it was a protective choice. I also think that the trust was set up but Nigel thought he'd live to a ripe old age and Freddie would be middle-aged by the time he'd inherit. I am quite surprised that the trust has no age at which he can inherit even if it was 35 or 40.

I assume the trustees are the firms of accounts and lawyers which Nigel used. Is Elizabeth a trustee?

I simply find the idea of a father in effect permanently disinheriting his heir, while leaving open a slight hope of eventual inheritance, to be utterly bizarre. If Nigel wanted to give the estate to a bunch of strangers, why drag his children into it at all? (I assume that if Freddie can't inherit except on the trustees' say-so, nor can Lily. Or else she has and is keeping extremely quiet about the fact and not gloating about it at Freddie even slightly. As if.) No matter when Nigel expected to die, it's a hideous thing to do to anyone you are fond of.

The trustees are named individuals and don't seem to be from firms known to Elizabeth; you'd think she'd know people Nigel knew. And no, she isn't a trustee; she has given the impression she's afraid of them and what they may decide, every time they are in the programme. They summon her to go and account for herself sometimes, and she gets into a panic about it.

I'm hoping that Diane is a mancunian in her late 30s and desperate to start a family asap, and that she's a damsel in distress who Harrison rescues, falls in love with and they head back oop north together for good.

I've got it. Harrison is called out to a dog sheep worrying and frightened Diane who is staying at Spiritual Home gets trapped and he rescues her. The dog is a doberman and it's not Monty.

The frightened sheep escape into a nearby wheatfield and the combine swerves to miss them but Pip was in the way and got crushed to death.

Stella is massively relieved that Cleo was not run over.

I think it's Susan who is not Bert's daughter.

This isn't sounding good, but I can't see how having Monty "collared" would have a huge impact on another family: Maybe Mungo has announced he thinks he's a girl?

Oasis may have got complaints about the dynamic pricing on their tickets for their reunion gigs, but that's nothing to do with the outrage in Ambridge when it's discovered there are tiered entry fees to the summer fête. Alan may wish he hadn't volunteered for "dunk the vicar". Lynda is in for a tough time after she receives some devastating news, which could have a huge impact on another family, too. She vows to fight on, but as Khalil gets involved and tensions mount, will it all become too much?

I think the other family affected will be the Brookfield Archers.
I suspect Monty was the sheep killer and David has to decide if Monty should be put down.

If he's been worrying and killing sheep Monty needs to be brisk for an elderly Doberman, which is what he is: he was an adult rescue dog in May 2018, and the usual lifespan of a Doberman is ten to twelve years, so he is well into the upper end of it.

Assuming he was 2 or 3 years old when he joined the Snell family he'd be 10 or 11 now. It's the Ambridge tap water.

It wasn't until Fallon went to stay with the Snells that I realised they were still running a B&B. Is a Doberman, elderly or otherwise, really compatible with a rural accommodation provider?

In any event, I've trashed my carbon footprint by having another chat with Google AI:

"If Monty was an adult in 2018, he must be at least 9 or 10 years old now (and likely even older). For a large breed like a Doberman, that makes him a very senior, geriatric dog.

The Physical Impossibility: It is highly unlikely a elderly Doberman would have the stamina, speed, and jaw strength required to fiercely chase down, attack, and kill 15 swift, young ewes".

BTW AI reckons it is all a SW set up.

Junk in (my narrative), junk out, but it will be interesting to see what emerges. Maybe Bert could find a hobby...

What better venue for ill temper and ugly scenes than the Ambridge summer fête? Alan finds he’s drawn the short straw in the tombola of village life when the discovery of a discrepancy in ticket prices is followed by a rousing session of Dunk the Vicar. It’s a dark week for Lynda when another villager has to break some heartbreaking news which is also set to devastate another family. Ever the dogged campaigner, Lynda resolves to fight the system, but things get even worse when Khalil weighs in. Plus, mother-son relations between Elizabeth and Freddie sour when she reveals a surprising new recruit, David and Ruth find themselves facing a stark choice and Alistairs’ professionalism is put to the test.

What I gleaned from all that was that Alistair will probably be charged with the responsibility of bringing judgement upon a Doberman.

On Mustardland the speculation is that it will turn out that Khalil was walking Monty at the time of the attack.

Even if Khalil wasn't walking Monty, he has been known to walk him and he will say he was.
