Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd like to marry Pip, or other unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please! We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4636789-the-archers-spoilers-thread-7-cant-wait-for-702pm-join-us-here, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, @DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have - BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

So now we know who bonked George on the head. Will the stunning revelation Hmm lead to anything interesting or credible happening? Answers on a postcard, please!

Will Alice and Rex become an item? Will Amber come to her senses? Has Adam's constant languor and fatigue now removed his ability to speak on air?

Over to you!

Listen again, Tom even said what vegetables to do and Akram repeated it back. I can understand Tom's frustration.

TheUsualChaos · 20/02/2026 14:20

Winter brassicas Tom said I think. Definitely don't see why Akram would touch the tulips. Surely some common sense is allowed to be assumed in a mature adult. He's not a work experience kid.

They're just making him out to be stupid which is really irritating because if he's been a successful plumber so far then he has to have a brain.

LightningMode · 20/02/2026 14:26

I thought I'd look up the actual facts on pre nups in English law, as they keep going on about them and AFAIAA they are not legally binding in English law.

They are not legally binding in English law. But they can be "considered". So just "having a pre nup" isn't a watertight thing here, as it is in the US.

At present, prenuptial agreements are not automatically enforceable by courts in England and Wales.

However, a landmark ruling by the Supreme Court in 2010 stated that courts should consider such agreements if entered into freely and with full understanding, unless doing so would be unfair.

This has prompted calls for reforming marriage laws, including a Law Commission proposal to introduce a new form of marital property agreement.

I am not ok with Josh whingeing that David and Ruth didn't get a pre-nup. That is up to them

Josh didn't whinge about that.

Pip: I'm pretty sure mum & dad never had a pre-nup

Josh: That's different Pip

Pip: erm ... how is it different?

Josh: because mum and dad aren't you.

Bruisername · 20/02/2026 16:28

I do love the idea of pip being given 50% of the farm now, marrying Stella and then dying in a horrible accident leaving Stella as 50% owner of the farm! I particularly like the pip dying part of that scenario

He was brutal. It was brilliant 😆

Roary must have been brought up by a Frostie because of Tony the Tiger also being roary.

Is Harrison's brother called Miles?

Edited

Marcus. Miles is Titchener.

FatRosie · 20/02/2026 16:48

Marcus, that's it! I knew there couldn't be two Mileses. Thanks.

Tom said what vegetables to do. Akram repeated it differently from what Tom had said. Tom didn't notice this because he was far too busy being far too busy and rushing about to be bothered to notice that Akram had got it wrong and missed out the word "front".

TheUsualChaos · 20/02/2026 17:22

I still don't think any of these details excuses pulling up a load of freshly emerging tulips. If he wasn't sure about them, why didn't he leave them 🤷‍♀️ like I said I think employers are reasonable to expect an modicum of common sense from their staff. Anyway, never thought I'd be on Tom's side about something but here we are!

Will Toby have died as well then? Some kind of joint industrial accident?

Will Toby have died as well then? Some kind of joint industrial accident?

Car crash. No survivors, including Rosie.

I wonder which of Pip or Toby is the worse driver. She has form for driving into things when she gets cross...

Bruisername · 20/02/2026 18:46

Toby is just the feckless father who will donate to Rosie a second evil stepmother

rex will valiantly try and rescue her from the cruelty of her uncle but she will end up dying of a medieval disease and buried in a paupers grave

her good friend Jack will then attempt to avenge her but his mother will mess it all up

Blimey. Dickens as well 😁

Yardbird · 20/02/2026 19:16

Listening to tonight’s for the first time in three weeks. Despite reading the thread faithfully and feeling like I was prepared for it - what the f is happening.

it’s like a fever dream.

Madcats · 20/02/2026 19:26

I was all excited when I heard that (silent) Carol was in the barn. Alas, she didn’t tell Josh that she isn’t renting from Brookfield, so it isn’t theirs to bequeath/hand over.

I suppose that the Dopeys DO understand that they have to hand over Brookfield and all the trimmings, as well as hoping they survive 7+ years?

Presumably Josh has done his requisite number of episodes to stay in the cast for a few more years. I doubt that Ruth and David will notice that he is gone.

JoelenesParrot · 20/02/2026 19:28

No rent and she probably eats all their groceries and uses Natasha’s best shampoo!
I think it would be the other way round. Gnasher is more likely to be relaxed about using Helen’s special and expensive shampoo without thinking (because they are family). And then H would get all cross and territorial.

Btw, while pre-nups are not legally-binding they are increasingly being used for guidance in divorce so it’s worth having one. Of course R and D didn’t have one as they were married at a time when pre-nups were very uncommon.

Zach’s accent and characterisation is absolutely inexplicable.

TheUsualChaos · 20/02/2026 20:08

Well that didn't last long. Alice not getting her own way I mean.

Oh Rex! We were planning an eco wedding for you and Kirsty! I don't think he really likes Alice. He's just lonely and desperate. Hence his dalliance with Rochelle.

Zac sounds like a simpleton.

muddyford · 21/02/2026 05:17

Anyone else struggling there to distinguish between Alice and Pip? Must be my ancient ears. Ruth's ghastly speech would have been more appropriate for a wedding.
