Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd like to marry Pip, or other unusual views.

Yes exactly! How did he not know what a tulip was for crying out loud.

Without wanting to rake up an old argument I have two (common) British forenames which frequently get mis-spelt, and a not so common British surname which gets mis-spelt 95% of the time. I often get the whole trio of mis-spellings. I've just learned to answer to anything, as the saying goes "Call me anything you like, just don't call me late for dinner".

@OrphanBlankly oh no, just wait. At some point they will let Akram get involved with the livestock and suddenly he will be the Dr Doolittle of Ambridge.

I love Josh.

Can somebody remind me whether “gentle Ben” was ‘okay’ with his prospective inheritance? He is strangely absent from everything. Maybe that will be his epitaph, in due course.

I suppose Bridge Farm should be thankful that Akram didn’t think the tulip bulbs were onions…or maybe there is another crisis awaiting the farm.

Are none of the farms lambing or calving?

I think Pip was busily preparing for one of those earlier this week, or late last week, @Madcats. (I wasn’t paying sufficient attention to recall which.)

I wondered if Pip's intended not being a man was the real root of Josh's concern too.

So glad that Josh came out with all that, it actually sounded realistic for once, something that an actual hard done by sibling would say. You would think Pip could see why Josh would be so pissed off? But no, she has to moan like a toddler about Josh being howwid to her.

As for Bridge Farm, that old song "GordonAkram is a moron" comes to mind.

I agree it did sound realistic, though strangely odd after years of not saying anything. Pip's whining about him being "howwid" was sooo annoying. She should have told him to fuck off and mind his own business.

As far as I remember, Maurice had recently retired and given up his butcher's shop when Tom first employed him to make the sausages, back in 2005. He must be what my mother called "quite of an age" now. Even if he took early retirement.

I guess Josh assumed (like the rest of us) that Stella was just a phase. Now it's suddenly got very serious for all concerned. David is going to be rather cross when he hears what Josh has said about his precious Pip.

Did Ruth have a chat with Stella about the plans for the Farm inheritance before the proposal- or allude to the fact they might have had a chat off air… I can remember a bit of ‘oh we must sort this out’ type conversations but were they limited to David and Ruth?

I think he would - he's had years of resentment about Pip being the assumed heir and the best because of being the eldest, and the way David and Ruth basically said, "well, you don't need much, anyway, because you always work it out and do okay on your own" - yes, because he's had to. He is particularly pissed off at the moment because of the will announcement, but it hasn't come out of the blue.
