Spoilers thread for The Archers on BBC Radio 4 and BBC Sounds. All Archers listeners are welcome here, whether you post on our main Archers thread or not. There's just one rule: please keep all spoiler-related discussion in this thread and do not spill the beans on the main Archers thread.

We usually add the BBC teasers and cast lists for forthcoming episodes as they become available, plus the Radio Times and Daily Mail previews when possible. Feel free to add anything else you come across, e.g. cast news, scriptwriter tweets!

@Madcats , breed from them and rear them for slaughter.

Buttcraic · 05/04/2026 14:08

In fairness beef prices are high but inputs are too so margins arent enough to encourage more production

They rear the calves themselves and they mainly eat grass so not much inputs.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 05/04/2026 14:32

Absolutely agree with the above, I can’t see any reason why Bridge Farm can’t keep at least a small herd of Angus cattle to keep Tony happy. And instructing the auctioneers without even telling him was a horrible thing to do. I hope he tells them all to eff off because he’s changed his mind and he’s not selling.

Even if they outwinter you've got the cost of at the very least silage to consider. The cost of slaughter has gone up too - there isn't the incentive to keep beef now. Opportunity cost re: the land. Selling the silage would be a better margin i bet.

FatRosie · 05/04/2026 14:49

It's only a small herd and Tony deserves a hobby other than his train set.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 05/04/2026 15:18

Tony got the Anguses because Tom and Helen decided to get rid of all the dairy cows on the farm. They then realised (as most people would have known, I feel) that in order to make cheese, yoghurt and ice cream you do need to have milk available, and buying in organic milk at a premium was not profitable, so Helen had a rethink and bought the Montbéliardes to replace the perfectly good cows she and Tom had thrown away at a loss. Meanwhile, Tony went out and bought himself some Aberdeen Angus cattle so he'd have something other than Tom's ruddy pigs to watch when he wanted to get away from the ghastly brats in his family. (Does Tom even still have the pigs he tried to force Tony to give pasture priority over the Anguses?)

Maybe they're letting all the rather aged have a final appearance? Bert, Carol, maybe Oliver... It'll be auntie Chris and Jill next! Perhaps a very localised pandemic will break out for them.

Tracy will be able to use Bert's empty room as a buffer between them and Helen.

How about a baby bird as the new pet in the Malik household? I can imagine Khalil finding a nestling or fledgling blackbird.

Bird! Called it. Even if not a wild one.

Gonners · 05/04/2026 20:40

Not in the Malik household though.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 05/04/2026 20:43

Gonners · 05/04/2026 20:40

Not in the Malik household though.

I think it probably will be. It may even have been a cunning plan of Khalil's to get a pet for himself while pretending to get it for someone else.

TottersBlatantlyTowardsTheBaileys · 05/04/2026 20:45

Oh - was I right? Haven’t listened yet! 😄

My thoughts exactly.

TottersBlatantlyTowardsTheBaileys · 07/04/2026 08:09

So I wasn’t right about the church happening! And it’s just the next on the SW’s list of ‘event-creating building failures’.

The budgie came out of nowhere …

FatRosie · 05/04/2026 14:15

They rear the calves themselves and they mainly eat grass so not much inputs.

And, as the podcast pointed out, they can use the outputs for valuable organic fertiliser.

TottersBlatantlyTowardsTheBaileys · 07/04/2026 14:19

Oh dear, the CA has just reiterated the teaser for tonight - ‘Adam has news for David’.

This will be mortifying when Adam inevitably has the Home Farm inheritance swiped from his grasp sometime in the future. 😭

TottersBlatantlyTowardsTheBaileys · 09/04/2026 19:22

I’ve just said on the other thread that, after Brian’s assurances that he’d see to a new Will next week, I doubt that he’ll remain hale and hearty much beyond this weekend. That might be the reason for the teaser embargo for next week?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 09/04/2026 19:44

It's more likely to be error than intent, I suspect.

FatRosie · 09/04/2026 19:46

Hmph!

Spoilsport … 😂

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 09/04/2026 19:53

Oh, it's that week? I've had them for several days. Sorry, I didn't realise.

The missing one is

15 Apr Bert warns Chelsea not to be too trusting. There’s an embarrassing moment between Fallon and Rex.

FatRosie · 09/04/2026 19:55

@TottersBlatantlyTowardsTheBaileys , I was worried I wasn't on the spoilers thread. Smile

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 09/04/2026 21:40

Thanks for filling all those in! I'm all over the place now, what with things not updating as early as they used to, and yet another trip to the frozen North. (Literally today, we were caught in a shower of hail. Very bracing.)

Here's everything I can see for next week, much of it courtesy of Mustardland.

Radio Times 11th to 17th April
It has been foreshadowed subtly, even by querulous Carole Tregorran, but after Pip discovers a lump in her breast, an anxious Stella and an empathetic Ruth support her at the clinic appointment. Could the Brookfield wedding fall apart in the worst possible way? Brian finally tells Lilian what’s happening between him and George - leaving her horrified at the implications. A coffee ‘in the Irish style’ may be in order.

TV Times 11th to 17th April
After Lilian tells Brian that the family are worried about him, she is shocked when he tells the truth about what’s been happening between him and George. Meanwhile, Bert is still kicking up a fuss - and threatening to sue the parish for compensation. Also this week, Alice is worried about Brian and Miranda, and Stella tries to stay positive as the date of Pip’s appointment nears.

Total TV Guide 11th to 17th April
We don’t normally hear much from Bert Horrobin - after all, how easy is it to get a word in edgeways in that household? - but he’s more than making up for it this week, threatening to sue the parish. It’s anyone’s guess how Tracy will react but ‘imperturbably’ seems unlikely. The Aldridges are worried about Brian, who feels he’s been ambushed at a family lunch. Pressed by Lilian, he finally comes clean about what’s going on between him and George. She’s horrified by the possible outcomes… Elsewhere in Ambridge, Fallon warns Alice that Chris may not be as accepting of his ex’s relationship with Rex as he seems. And Pip’s upcoming appointment is causing anxiety at Brookfield as Ruth busies herself with the attendant practicalities.

ETA Forgot to post this too.

If Bert was hurt at all by the falling plaster, it can't have been that serious, otherwise Alan would have known about it. So I can't believe that any claim from him is going to be that expensive, and anyway it's something that Alan can just pass it on to the insurers to deal with.

MollyButton · 10/04/2026 00:43

Den ? Isn’t that Tracey’s ex?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 10/04/2026 08:34

Yes. As mentioned above, played by the actor who was the farmer with the invisible dog in The Detectorists.

Mustardlanders guess that Ms Shah is going to be the consultant Pip sees. Good shout, I would think.
