It was definitely George, he just dropped his voice from shouting to talking normally albeit somewhat breathlessly.

Confirmed on BBC Sounds plot summary

FizzingAda · 12/02/2026 13:55

But more lovely Finlay 💖 means more awful Helen in cougar mode.

FatRosie · 12/02/2026 13:59

Thanks @Madcats. It was Drane.

Finlay … Mark Bonnar - ooh!

TottersBlatantlyTowardsTheBaileys · 12/02/2026 14:08

Oh my! That’s just what I need to keep me going over the coming week!

FatRosie · 12/02/2026 14:20

If he stays at the Executive Home, won't it be even more cramped?
Maybe he could stay with Joy and Mucky.

TottersBlatantlyTowardsTheBaileys · 12/02/2026 14:24

Helen decamping to the Highlands would solve the Bridge Farm house issue …

FatRosie · 12/02/2026 14:34

It would but I like Helen as a character.
There are many characters that I would prefer to send to the Highlands.
Pip and Amber could do with being sent somewhere much further for ever.

Madcats · 12/02/2026 15:01

Maybe Pip could fall in love with Finlay and decamp to Scotland (to return with Fat Rosie for Christmas and two weeks in the summer)?

Or, better still, Finlay and Stella fall in love and buy Meadow Farm together (they are probably closer in age). Nothing like feuding neighbours for a bit of dwama.

If Helen does up sticks to Scotland they could simply sell the dairy (that would solve the staffing issues)!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/02/2026 15:50

Pip does not deserve Finlay. Not sure anyone in Ambridge does.

FatRosie · 12/02/2026 15:55

I don't think anyone deserves Pip. Unless Miles comes back and is even worse than Rob.
Ghastly woman.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/02/2026 15:50

Helen very definitely doesn't. The best result would be for her to introduce him to Kirsty as her new beloved and for Kirsty to run off into the sunset with him.

FatRosie · 12/02/2026 16:01

I like that idea but would prefer it if they both stayed in Ambridge.

TottersBlatantlyTowardsTheBaileys · 12/02/2026 16:15

It’s a bit unlikely that we’d be graced with Mark Bonnar’s permanent presence in Ambridge …

(Any intel on Louiza Patikas’ TV future??)

They wouldn’t have to sell the dairy. Helen could employ a manager and keep it going? Wouldn’t be surprised if Henry decided to stay on Bridge Farm, while Helen and Jack leave.

None of this will happen, will it? There’ll be a few weeks of endless Valentines Day, and then a misunderstanding. And then silence for evermore. Sad

Madcats · 12/02/2026 16:15

I rather like the idea of Highland cattle romping through the rewilding fields (apologies, I can't remember what sort of crofting Finlay did alongside putting out fires and rescuing cats). It could be a teeny bit like Chillingham.

FatRosie · 12/02/2026 17:17

I thought there were cattle at Rewilding Ambridge.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 12/02/2026 17:27

There are. Longhorns.

TottersBlatantlyTowardsTheBaileys · 12/02/2026 17:37

Those Who attacked George? trailers are quite disturbing.

Not least because I’m 99.999999% certain the resolution will be deeply disappointing. Dead dog disappointing.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 12/02/2026 17:40

TA has form for not living up to its hype. Practically every day the spoiler is more interesting than the programme....

Gonners · 12/02/2026 18:07

My problem with the Who attacked George? business is that I really don't care. Whoever it was made a fair attempt, but needs to do better and should perhaps go on a proper Coshing Course.

FatRosie · 12/02/2026 20:24

It was so obvious that George would record it.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 12/02/2026 21:00

The question now is, did Brian know about George's previous, recording Helen without her knowledge and then publishing that recording after doctoring it? If he did, his behaviour becomes a lot more understandable: he was giving George enough rope to hang himself. How Brian will arrange for that suspension to take place I don't know, but I am not as devious as Brian can be.

Maybe Brian has a cast-iron alibi for New Year's Eve between George stomping off to look for Mummy after his talk with Alice, and George being found unconscious and the ambulance arriving a few seconds later?

Gonners · 12/02/2026 21:07

I have to admit it threw me that (a) it was Brian's house (I'd assumed it was Lilian's) and (b) it was George at the door, given that it didn't (to me) sound like him. But I'll let both of those pass. Other than that, it's simply absurd to believe that it was Brian wot dun it. He did succeed in getting George out of the house without violence, though, and I suspect that when George comes back for blackmail purposes he may have the sense to make his own recording.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 12/02/2026 21:12

Or to have been making a recording this time, and have George threatening to blackmail him already on record.

"Pay me compensation or I'll tell everyone you did it" is pretty-much a definition of blackmail.

I can believe it, unlike what AI says. What I particularly hate about it is that the pronouncements are so confident. That must be what takes so many people in.

I really don't understand the AI algorithm. I was doing some research and it came up with some very promising-looking studies. However, I couldn't find them when I went googling. I went back and queried it further, and the answer was that these were examples of the sort of studies in the subject that might have existed. How could anyone think that would be remotely useful to anyone?

Then there are stories of barristers who have got into horrendous trouble because they've got AI to write skeleton arguments and it has quoted non-existent statutes and cases. Again, why would anyone produce a programme that does that? How could it possibly be helpful?

I can't see the SWs depriving themselves of all the juicy storylines they've lined up around Jack and Henry growing up, with Jack turning out to take after his father and throwing his weight around with his inherited land.
