True, but that could come later. It’ll be a while until Jack’s even granted a regular voice (probably). So he could come back once he’s 18, while Helen remains … erm, on TV.

I can't see the SWs depriving themselves of all the juicy storylines they've lined up around Jack and Henry growing up, with Jack turning out to take after his father and throwing his weight around with his inherited land.

Jack will get a whole ten acres; less than Grundys' field, I think.

Was that it - about 200m square? That's just a bit bigger than "the green" across the road from us, which is great for letting dogs have a bit of a romp and as a short-cut for humans and foxes, and gives the seagulls somewhere to hang out. I do remember thinking it didn't sound like very much, but I hadn't related it to an area I know!

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 13/02/2026 20:28

Oliver sold ten of the fifty acres that he owned, in order to keep Grey Gables afloat. Eddie had a hissy-fit: how dare Oliver sell something belonging to Oliver! Ed was no longer able to feed his Texels and had to graze them on the cricket pitch. And so on.

If it was only ten acres he sold, it can't be more than ten acres that were bought for Jack.

Gonners · 13/02/2026 20:52

Thanks, @AskingQuestionsAllTheTime - I wonder if that land is being used. Maybe that's where Henry's goats live?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 13/02/2026 21:16

I think in the end Emma talked Rob's brother into letting Ed farm it rather than it lying fallow and going over to nettles and brambles.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 13/02/2026 21:21

"to benefit the land by grazing it for eleven months of the year" was the phrase I was remembering. So perhaps they are not even paying rent for it! If it were for twelve months of the year it would be a tenancy, which Miles didn't want.

So is Zach Stella's brother, invited for the sole purpose of impregnating Pip with a little brother for Row-Zee? Or is he her not-yet divorced husband because neither of them remembered to apply for the decree absolute? Either way, does he plan to move in with them?

FatRosie · 16/02/2026 13:02

The revelation will be Justin-related.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 16/02/2026 16:24

Zach will be the brother that Stella mentioned would be coming to see her, I'd have thought.

Ah ... this must have been one of the 90% of Archers scenes that I don't seem to send into even short-term memory.

FatRosie · 16/02/2026 17:31

The other siblings are Isabel and Lila. They might be spelt differently.

HCat has eaten my almond croissant. Evil bastard. I was really looking forward to it. Either that or it's evaporated. Strange that the crumbs didn't evaporate.
He can open doors and cupboards. It's like living with Wile E Coyote.

FatRosie · 16/02/2026 17:31

I'll be Skinny Rosie at this rate.

FatRosie · 16/02/2026 17:34

Given that the Archers wives/husbands seldom have siblings, the Pryor siblings must exist for a reason.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 16/02/2026 17:35

To bring her to her senses?

JanetheObscure · 17/02/2026 08:39

Finlay!

Yes indeed.

WombatCowgirl · 17/02/2026 22:26

I don't think the sibling set of the Pryors sounds likely; Isabelle, Stella, Lyla are very L, Lyla Pryor is a weird assonance like being called Duncan Monkton or Andrew Pandrew. I don't think the Mumsnet baby names board would approve!

FatRosie · 17/02/2026 22:36

They'd be fine with them as long as they were Isobella Rose, Estella May, Delilah Grace and Zachariah James on their BC. Smile

Many characters seem to have names that don't fit their age group. Assuming they were born in the UK around 1980, would they have been given those names?

WombatCowgirl · 17/02/2026 22:42

Aha you're right!

FatRosie · 17/02/2026 22:52

The characters we have known from birth, apart from Kenton and Shula, have fairly age-typical names, but others don't.

Harrison is one. He's about 40 but the name seems much younger.
Esme is how old but it would have been very unusual for a millennial.

Baby names posters tend to focus on the flow of first and middle names and disregard the need to go with the surname, so it would be suggested that Keira Susan was Susanna Kiera, Josh was Mateo Joshua etc.

James Michael would flow so much better as Michael James, which would be gorgeous but the OP's surname is Hunt

Gladtimeslady · 18/02/2026 08:38

I've always thought Brenda and Roy's names don't suit their ages.

I do, however, know two Millennials called Esme.

Gonners · 18/02/2026 10:35

The only Brenda I know (I think she's the only Brenda I've ever known) is a neighbour in her 90s. I don't think I've ever known an Esme or a Roy. Ditto a Kenton or a Shula. Those two just sound like an attempt to be different, especially when David and Elizabeth are such frequently-used names.

FatRosie · 18/02/2026 10:45

@Gladtimeslady , it would have been unusual for a millennial. I find that an unusual name will often occur a few times in the same area. Someone might pick an unusual name then it won't seem unusual to other parents. See the many threads like 'Friend/SIL stole my baby name'. Smile

I know a millennial called Brenda and her sibling has a similarly dated name. It probably helps that they're both intelligent and attractive, which of course the Tucker siblings also were.

There's not much of an age gap between the twins and David (just over a year), but Elizabeth is about 8 years younger.
