Waiting for Jolene's shocking discovery. They've run out of bottles of chardonnay over NY?

That the CCTV was wiped, perhaps.

Edited to add: sorry, didn't notice the time-stamp on your post.

Gonners · 04/01/2026 20:24

CCTV wiped by Fallon, who thinks (probably correctly) that 'Arrison done it.

JanFebAndOnwards · 04/01/2026 21:28

Maybe it was Akram who wiped the tape, in-between doing the plumbing?!

KnittedFerret · 05/01/2026 12:24

What was the significance of Brian's 'punchy' aftershave?

TottersBlatantlyTowardsTheBaileys · 05/01/2026 12:30

Good question. Beyond establishing his presence - it made him sound like a teen with their first bottle of Lynx. I don’t really think of him as so gauche as to knock out fellow pub goers with his aftershave. But perhaps it suggested a loss of inhibition? I’ve been a bit worried by Alice’s reports of his current ill heath.

KnittedFerret · 05/01/2026 12:37

I was thinking that the smell might have lingered around George if he'd dunnit.
My money is on Henry with one of Joy's frozen sachertortes, the evidence having been eaten by Justin and Sigourney.

TottersBlatantlyTowardsTheBaileys · 05/01/2026 13:05

Ah … Brian wouldn’t have clobbered George - but if he saw Alice talking to George, and then came upon him almost unconscious on the ground … Yes, he could have called the ambulance, and George might remember a fragrant person bending over him.

KnittedFerret · 05/01/2026 13:25

I don't think Brian would have done it either but why was it mentioned? No other presents seem to have been mentioned apart from Kenton & Jerlene's day off, which would have given Sergeant Plod the opportunity to get to know the CCTV.

This Country Kerry GIF by BBC Three

I still imagine George looking like Kurtan from This Country rather than a slightly anachronistic mid 90s ish look they've got Angus Stobie in that makes him look like a bass player for some mid level grunge band

Sort of the same and yet somehow not

Gonners · 05/01/2026 13:37

I imagine that a highly-trained and supremely intelligent police officer such as Harrison would have detailed knowledge of the ins-and-outs of CCTV and be more than capable of wiping a bit. 😉

And yes, @Lalgarh ... sort of like Kurtan, but without the ambition!

KnittedFerret · 05/01/2026 13:38

Are there two Harrisons?

He could get a job at Halfords in Swindon. The world is his oyster 🦪

I always thought Kurtan was much more intelligent than Kerry but frustrated by lack of opportunities. I have a secret crush on Charlie Cooper.

I think that is more Brad.
George has muscles and spends a lot of time in the Gym and tossing hay bales around.

TottersBlatantlyTowardsTheBaileys · 05/01/2026 16:08

Brad isn’t angular! I think of him as still quite teen-pudding-ish of face, and somewhat pale, partly from sitting hunched over laptop, probably more from sheer alarm at the family he finds himself a part of.

KnittedFerret · 05/01/2026 18:20

Not a spoiler but there was a recent discussion about sofas on a main thread. Here's an example of the two sofas that might have been the setup in The Stables:

(probably not the best example and apologies for not being a spoiler)

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 05/01/2026 18:48

I don't think The Stables is as old or special as that room appears: exposed beams and a pillar seem unlikely somehow. Two sofas might well not fit into its sitting-room or lounge or whatever they call the room they watch telly and squabble in.

After renaming Barratt's Farm "Onemona", Aunt Laura moved out to the "more impressive" 1860s yellow brick monstrosity far too large for a single person, which she renamed Ambridge Hall. After she left Onemona, it became "The Stables". But it was less impressive than a yellow brick dwelling well outside the village, so it can't really be all that cop: I think it's fairly small and pokey, with two bedrooms and that room much beloved of Ambridge, a box room, which gets used as a spare room but is only really large enough to hold a bed, and small other furniture. Hence the argument at one point about what could be fitted into that third bedroom.

TottersBlatantlyTowardsTheBaileys · 05/01/2026 18:52

That looks almost exactly how I imagine the interior of Glebe Cottage, @KnittedFerret - cute but cramped. I tend to think of the house at The Stables as being much more spacious.

ETA - and I’m happy to go on imagining it so!

KnittedFerret · 05/01/2026 19:12

I think it would be more spacious and a bit smarter. Still rustic but a bit less cluttered. Rectangular coffee table.
I don't see Brad as angular. Not skinny but not athletic or anything.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 06/01/2026 06:56

It must have three full-sized bedrooms now because it has three tenants, each with their own room.

TottersBlatantlyTowardsTheBaileys · 06/01/2026 07:45

In my recollection Shula and Alistair (and Dan) found themselves somewhat squashed at Glebe Cottage and were gleeful about how much more space they’d have on moving to The Stables.

(It makes no difference to me whatsoever if I’ve misremembered any of that.)

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 06/01/2026 09:10

We all know that the various Ambridge residences shrink and expand as required for plot purposes with no tiresome business of having to get builders in. Some of them even manage to move around the village.

KnittedFerret · 06/01/2026 10:23

Could it be Fallon? Could have wiped the CCTV, which would have shown her leaving the pub armed with a bottle of chardonnay and returning empty handed and bleeding? Is it a red herring?

NewYearNewNameWhoKnew · 06/01/2026 10:47

If you deliberately planned to cosh someone why would you bother to call an ambulance? I guess sudden remorse etc. but seems odd. That would make more sense to me if it was a chance encounter on the footpath and an impulsive action - in which case Fallon & Harrison are unlikely culprits as they had no reason to be walking that way carrying chardonney (sp). Who did have reason to be walking along that path by chance at midnight?

Lalgarh · 06/01/2026 11:07

It mentioned that Emma said George said he heard voices calling for an ambulance 🚑, so I'm assuming the police will be able to get the recording of the 999 call and BINGO work out who the perp was
