given the drink driving stuff for Harry is that signalling she will drink drive. Maybe Brian has harsh words and she drives off upset and crashes into someone (a family member of Chris but not who we are being led to believe) and Harrison’s taking action is arresting her

That would be nice, though not as good as having her taken out and shot. I am utterly bored by everything involving Alice. I Just Do Not Care!

I was trying to recall that @Bruisername. Maybe not or only on the fringes.

I was annoyed bc he showed good insight and sensitive in the first part of the episode but then allowed himself to be manipulated by the end.

I know addicts are good at that though.

I'd like Phoebe to return at some point, having sold whatever that Scottish start-up she is involved with and getting enough ££ to afford a home.

I'm not sure how long I can put up with Alice, Pip, George, Mia.....

The T20 cricket, I think. Alistair told Robert he had signed up for it, and that it was on the Bank Holiday Sunday. But that might get lost in all the melodrama.

The dates were published one out: it ought to be
02 May Jakob finds himself on the spot and Will attempts to keep the peace.
03 May One family face devastation and George struggles to pay the price.

05 May Brian’s words cut deep, and someone makes a terrible mistake with earth-shattering consequences.
06 May There’s a race against time in Ambridge, and one resident faces a nightmare situation.
07 May There’s life-changing news at the hospital, and Kate fears the worst.
08 May Alan provides a sympathetic ear, and Will is left confused.
09 May There’s heartbreak in store for Chris, while suspicions are raised about recent events.
10 May Tensions boil over for one family, and Harrison takes shocking action.

and then Sunday 12th, "One resident makes a horrifying discovery, and Tracy is on a mission to bring the community together."

Someone on the main thread has opined that Denise is in TA ‘to tick a diversity checkbox’ - which has upset me considerably.

I certainly would not be pleased if either she or Paul were the victim in your worryingly plausible scenario, @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g. And I notice she is not in the cast list for the week beginning 12/5.

I guess they would struggle to kill off Alastair and him grieving for his secret girlfriend in front of her grieving son would provide drama

i think the sw have been trying to introduce more diversity which seems reasonable but I guess is quite hard to do on radio. I can’t remember what the population of ambridge is supposed to be but it clearly can’t be 100% white and it would be a bit odd if the characters all were.

The South Asian box has been thoroughly ticked with Usha, Adil and now Azra - NB, all educated professional people ... so, no stereotyping there, eh? And Jakob ticks a box of some sort, though he is less "exotic" since they remembered that his mother is/was English and he ditched the charming intonation. Are there any fire worshippers from Tierra del Fuego left? Because that would make for a fun bonfire night on Lakey Hill.

I still fear that a family will be devastated by the death of Bartelby (I'd much sooner it was Denise and/or Alastair) and George stuck to pay for some fancy-dan horse-publicising gadgetry.

Agree with pp - it would be odd if all the characters were white and straight. I don’t think it’s box ticking but a reflection of modern society

Mike Tucker lost an eye a while back, but of course he's more or less written out now. Lynda has probably been left with some issues after the Grey Gables fire, but they're never mentioned now. Ben has depression. Greg the gamekeeper, Pat Archer and Mike Tucker had that too. Mike also had high cholesterol. Alcoholism: Alice and Harry; Jack Archer died from it; George Barford managed to remain abstinent. Daniel had juvenile arthritis but outgrew it. Chris Carter was born with a cleft palate, had a successful operation, presumably has no long-lasting issues now as it's not been mentioned for decades. Emma had a bad leg injury after the crash when Ed took Will's car and crashed it, but has presumably made a full recovery as it's also never mentioned. Brian had epilepsy for a time after a Grundy cow kicked him in the head, but he recovered. Ruth had breast cancer and seems fine now. Kenton and Jill have both had thyroid problems, never mentioned now. Walter Gabriel had Type 2 diabetes. Helen has an eating disorder. Jack Woolley had dementia. Elizabeth was born with a hole in the heart. Ed had addiction issues which seem to have vanished competely. Jazzer had a nasty episode after overdosing on ketamine, again never mentioned now.

There must be more.
