The spoiler thread runs for around a year, but I strongly suspect it gets read about as much as the main thread.

WhoppingBigBackside · 08/01/2024 11:19

Wayne Rogers stage name Wayne Tucson

Did he change his surname to Jolene's? She was originally Doreen Rogers, the daughter of the Layton Cross butcher.

WhoppingBigBackside · 08/01/2024 14:11

I don't know @AskingQuestionsAllTheTime , I thought he and Jerlene were married when they had Fallon, and Fallon was Fallon Burns,

Was the Layton Cross butcher called Rogers?

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g , a belated Thank You for the spoilers.
Happy New Year.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 08/01/2024 14:23

Jolene was Jolene Rogers before she took up with Wayne, and Eddie fancied her rotten. I assume that was her father's surname but we never met him.

Jolene and Wayne were not married.

Fallon has always been Fallon Rogers; she didn't change her name on marriage to Harrison Burns.

WhoppingBigBackside · 08/01/2024 14:47

Relations deteriorate at the vets, and Natasha sparks controversy.
Sounds promising.

Maybe Wayne really is called Tucson and Jolene was ahead of her time and kept her surname, or maybe they weren't married.

Thanks, @AskingQuestionsAllTheTime

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 08/01/2024 16:11

I was wrong about Jolene and Wayne not being married; they were. She just kept her own name.

As far as I can make out she always used her stage name, until she married Kenton and realised that being called Archer had more social cachet in Ambridge.

Fallon has definitely always been called Rogers, too. I don't think Wayne lasted long as a husband.

Gonners · 08/01/2024 16:42

... and realised that being called Archer had more social cachet in Ambridge

Ah, those were the days, eh? Nowadays you'd be better off keeping your maiden name, even if it were Horrobin.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 08/01/2024 17:28

She married Kenton in November 2013, so SO'C had already taken over and started to dismantle the programme.

Speaking of which, is it just coincidence that someone has taken over the post of Brad's boss and started to make Brad's life a misery, and this person's name is Connor?

WhoppingBigBackside · 08/01/2024 19:25

Now we know who Mr Reed is.

WhoppingBigBackside · 15/01/2024 13:52

The reason for the lots of rain being mentioned is that Ed will sell the texels, IMO.
The tea room staff will snap, won't they?
Joy will probably take in Hilda Rogden.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 15/01/2024 15:12

Joy has a cat already, Ena Sharples, one of Hilda's unexpected litter (she had it two-and-a-half years after moving to live with Peggy, which is truly unlikely). Ena was described by one of the vets as "even worse than Hilda". I don't think the two would get along happily; I think Ena would defend her territory to the death.

WhoppingBigBackside · 15/01/2024 15:17

I just about remember the real Ena Sharples. Only as a young child who only saw Coronation Street when at my grandmother's.

I can see Brian getting the cat.

Gonners · 15/01/2024 15:36

Who knows ... the cat might even decide she likes Brian and turn into an old softie? You never can tell with cats, and Brian's voice is much less strident than Kate's, Lillian's or Peggoi's.

Poppins2016 · 15/01/2024 18:17

I reckon Brian will have the cat. Possibly under Kate's influence...

(Side note - Brian always seems like the type who'd have a dog... have the Aldridge family ever owned dogs?)

Gonners · 15/01/2024 20:09

If Brian is clever he will be able to throw Kate out on the basis that Hilda hates her.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 15/01/2024 21:19

Brian invited her to live there!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 21/01/2024 13:48

Spoilers as far ahead as I can find them, plundered from the BBC website and Mustardland. I can't see anything from the Daily Mail but in recent times it's been very brief and hasn't added much to the RT preview. Where's Helen off to, then?

21st Jan Helen takes a big step, and confusion rages at The Bull.
22nd Jan Alice faces a dilemma, and Adam makes his presence felt.
23rd Jan There’s surprising news for Harry, and Chelsea turns detective.
24th Jan There’s concern for Brian, while Eddie finds life a drag.
25th Jan There’s light at the end of the tunnel for the Grundys, and Susan stirs the pot.
26th Jan Tension mounts at The Bull, and Tony makes an enemy.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary January 21st-26th
Romance may be in the air but Alice fears that she and Harry are moving too fast. She also has to rush Brian to the doctor's with some strange symptoms. Chelsea is still recruiting volunteers for The Bull's fashion show, but one of her models could get more than he bargained for. Confusion reigns over the Longest Drinker competition, Helen decides to take a break from the dairy, and Ed and Emma find a solution to their problem.

Brian's symptoms are almost certainly going to be cat-related, aren't they?

28th Jan It’s panic stations for Lilian, and Mia is not impressed.
29th Jan The results are in for Kenton, and there’s a new face in Ambridge.
30th Jan There’s an emergency at the Bull, and Brad puts his foot down.

1st Feb Vince makes a surprising offer, and there’s an unexpected visitor for one resident.
2nd Feb Jolene finds herself cornered and Mia makes a big declaration.

Markie? Who he? The actor has been in TA several times before. Copying shamelessly from the indefatigable posters of Mustardland, he most notably played a customer for Eddie’s limousine as a hungover former PE teacher, a groom en-route to his wedding. He was Adrian 'Yam-Tam' York & revealed that the Grundy boys had been called Gormless 1 and 2 by teachers and Emma was known as Sweary Carter. Grin

4th Feb Harrison has concerns, and there’s an awkward encounter for Chris.
5th Feb There’s trouble at the Bull, and Adam stamps his authority.
6th Feb Lynda takes the lead, and Alice is keen to make a good impression.
7th Feb A new arrival causes problems at Bridge Farm, and Susan is up to mischief.
8th Feb Alice is in the firing line, and a decision is reached at Bridge Farm.
9th Feb Harry makes a surprising admission, and the problems continue to mount for Jolene.

I remember Juliet Aubrey from the BBC TV adaptation of Middlemarch many years ago with the lovely Rufus Sewell. Harry's mother? Looks as if Adam is going to take over in the dairy. Oh dear.

I personally did not believe a word that "Yam-Yam" Yorkie said; there was no evidence at all that Emma swore before she was sixteen, let alone that she made a habit of it. And I am not at all convinced that either of the two scriptwriters that week, Liz John & Sarah Hehir, was listening to the programme at the beginning of the century when Emma left school.

TottersBlanklyIntoBimboCore · 21/01/2024 14:25

Juliet Aubrey? Goodness!

I wanted to believe she’s Harry’s ex - but a) Google says JA is 57 (so not at all impossible, but …) and b) I have a vague feeling he’s already mentioned his ex-wife’s name and it’s not Eve. I remember when she was The Next Big Thing. (But then, I too have a brilliant future behind me.)

I’ll be relieved and delighted to see that light shining in the direction of Ed and Emma.

Thanks @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g.

Gonners · 21/01/2024 14:31

21st Jan ... Helen takes a big step - with luck, a long walk off a short pier. It'll probably just involve meeting Miles or letting they Grundys use the land without the trustees' permission.

Brian's symptoms are almost certainly going to be cat-related, aren't they?
Yep.

5th Feb ... Adam stamps his authority - more likely to stamp his foot and threaten to thkweem and thkweem till he's thick.

I suspect Harry's mother is not going to approve of Alice.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 21/01/2024 15:39

I have a vague feeling he’s already mentioned his ex-wife’s name and it’s not Eve.

It was Bryony.

ZadocPDederick · 21/01/2024 16:33

Perhaps Helen will send Jack to lisp winningly at Unkie Miles that he would weally weally like the nice Texels to graze on his land.

WhoppingBigBackside · 21/01/2024 17:05

Thanks Gasp
Brian's symptoms are almost certainly going to be cat-related, aren't they?
Yes.

Maybe Markie is a friend brought in to model in the fashion show or something to do with the Ten Acre Tuna Bake Memorial Site.

BoreOfWhabylon · 22/01/2024 01:25

24th Jan There’s concern for Brian, while Eddie finds life a drag
Oh god. Eddie's going to be Ambridge's answer to Ru Paul isn't he?

And thanks Gasp0de Flowers

WhoppingBigBackside · 22/01/2024 08:22

Bore You got it! And how we will laugh

Gasp Hope the Gaspmother is doing OK still and that the storm isn't too bad where she is. Flowers

DeanElderberry · 23/01/2024 15:03

Oh no, it sounds as if we're going to get womanface Eddie at the fashion show. The last time he cross-dressed he ruined Clarrie's best tights as he attempted to confuse a goat.
