Spoilers thread for The Archers. Please keep all spoiler-related discussion in this thread and do not spill the beans on the main Archers Thread. Last spoilers thread here: www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4197199--The-Archers-spoilers-thread-7-Cant-wait-for-7-02pm-Join-us-here

Current main Archers thread here: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4887688-archers-thread-153-total-absolute-rubbish-but-we-keep-on-listening-hoping-for-better-things-its-the-hope-that-kills-you-discuss-the-archers-here?latest=1 The main thread tends to last a few weeks. The spoiler thread runs for around a year, but I strongly suspect it gets read about as much as the main thread.

Thanks, @MTistheDB . I find myself thinking 'Why do you listen if you hate the characters, acting and storylines?'

There have been several occasions when I've felt personally attacked on there, and via PM, which is a bit much for a thread discussing a Radio 4 soap opera.

TherapistInATabard · 05/12/2023 15:52

I’m so sorry that that was your experience @MTistheDB and @WhoppingBigBackside. The main thread isn’t quite as aggy as it has been, but it’s still not as cosy as it used to be. It’s such a shame.

WhoppingBigBackside · 05/12/2023 16:30

@TherapistInATabard , I've just had a look at the latest page and it's not exactly brimming with positivity. I hope Angrybaby makes a swift recovery.

I think Lilian will get a phone call from Shula this evening.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 05/12/2023 17:24

This is the spoiler thread, but if it also functions as a smaller, cosier space for discussing The Archers, where some people feel happier continuing to chat, that has to be a good thing. I don't see undue negativity on the main thread. The programme is not going through a Golden Age, in my view [understatement], so I wouldn't expect to see lots of BOOPs at the moment. This week is better than last week and I think that's probably down to Keri Davies being this week's writer.

I have just noticed: the BBC spoiler for yesterday was
"04 Dec Justin goes too far, and Clarrie reaches the end of her tether."

I can understand that Clarrie was heard losing it; but how was ringing up Shula "going too far"?

Gonners · 05/12/2023 18:58

Well, it was done purely to shop Fagash and scupper her plans, entirely for his own benefit. It's not as though Justin and Shula are "friends" who keep in touch. I would be fairly irritated if my partner phoned one of my relatives - my sister, for example - purely to get me into trouble. In real life, stuff like that rarely pans out well.

Come back, Tiger, with a new identity and an impenetrable (except by Lil) disguise, and get your minions to dispose of Justin!

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 05/12/2023 19:31

Yes, today we learned that Lilian thinks he went too far. Yesterday, all he did was ring Shula to try to find out what was actually going on. Which if his and Shula's money is involved, which it is, I think maybe just maybe he would be entitled to do?

And if I were Shula I would be very glad to have been given a heads-up before Lilian spent half a million quid or so on buying something my business didn't need; it's even worse than Stella casually spending £150,000 on a piece of kit Home Farm didn't actually need and she'd been told not to buy.

Gonners · 05/12/2023 20:43

Arf! I did wonder who Lilian thought was going to pay for it. Justin, possibly? Or (in my dreams) Tiger, funded by his drug-money-laundering Colombian partners.

I just find everything about Justin so very tedious. But that aside, yesterday, to my ears, he made that call purely out of malice. He doesn't care a fig for Shula or her interests. He just doesn't want Mad Fagash bidding the price up.

WhoppingBigBackside · 08/12/2023 17:00

Not a spoiler but the actress who played Julia Pargetter was Prudie in the1970s Poldark.

Wonder what Lillian's shocking news will be.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 08/12/2023 22:46

Mystery buyer - as Joy is in the cast list next week, Rochelle? <clutches straws>

Wonder what Lillian's shocking news will be.

She was brilliant as Prudie, loved the original series.

TottersBlanklyIntoBimboCore · 09/12/2023 06:24

Or Joy herself? Shock

WhoppingBigBackside · 09/12/2023 07:55

The mystery buyer will be Miles

TottersBlanklyIntoBimboCore · 09/12/2023 08:09

Why, though?

From what we’ve heard he can barely manage his own farm. Why would he want land in Ambridge?

Unless Rob left instructions to buy Ambridge land for his son? Though it would be incredibly strange, I am wondering what the continuing ‘nightmare’ for Helen might entail. Perhaps it’s that?

WhoppingBigBackside · 09/12/2023 08:28

Because it is what Rob would have wanted, innit.
And to prolong the agony for Hellin.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 09/12/2023 12:59

The fallout from the Grange Farm auction causes an icy atmosphere between Justin and Lilian. Lynda and Tony offer comfort, but a fuming Lilian makes a dramatic announcement.

Adam and Ian are haunted by the past when Xander lands a role in the Christmas show.
Pip has a big question for Stella, and Joy is surprised by an invitation.

Daily Mail has not yet come to hand, again. Sigh. And it's raining...

Lynda takes in Lilian and Ruby when Justin starts to cut up rough? And Paul discovers that his mum and dad have split up and he's lumbered with sleeping on the sofa for the indefinite future?

WhoppingBigBackside · 09/12/2023 13:40

Thanks Asking. i don't have a TV either.
Xander will be the innkeeper and he'll have been named 'Sid Perks'.
Lynda will show friendship towards her step-grandson's paternal grandmother.
Alice will tell Harry that she has had a drink problem. He'll need to think about it.
Denise will look for alternative lodgings.

Helen has a spare room.
Has Hannah moved in with Stella?
Is The World's First Lesbian about to propose?

Why don't Tom'n'Tash build a house on Bridge Farm land? Opportunity for a guest cameo from a chap called Kevin. Baby Kevin Archer will turn up when Tom, Tash & Twins manage to wrangle a £1.25 mil out of Peggy to get the job finished

Wilma55 · 09/12/2023 16:52

Daily Mail - very brief...

Fuming Lilian speaks up and Alice decides she must be honest with Harry about her past.

That's it!

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 09/12/2023 17:02

Thanks. I didn't go out, and if that's all there was I'm glad I didn't.

TherapistInATabard · 09/12/2023 18:15

Joking aside, what on earth is the Xander Christmas show thing going to be? I’d like Denise to move in with Joy 😄

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 09/12/2023 18:20

A traditional Nativity and they start thinking about the circumstances of his birth, or similar? I can't remember anything traumatic about the Lexi surrogacy, but then I have done my best to block all of that out, as I am totally opposed to surrogacy.

OP posts:
JanglyBeads · 10/12/2023 09:23

I don't imagine the SWs are about to take us into the surrogacy debate though....

Oh please let it be something to do with Adam's several dalliances.... although I can't see how!

JanglyBeads · 10/12/2023 09:24
  • into the actual arguments of the surrogacy debate
Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 10/12/2023 09:41

Good thinking, Jangly! Charlie or Pawel resurfaces at the preschool Nativity?

OP posts:
AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 10/12/2023 10:16

Adam has had just those two dalliances, one of which never led to more than a drunken kiss and the other of which was a one-nighter. I don't think two=many!
