Spoilers thread for The Archers. Please keep all spoiler-related discussion in this thread and do not spill the beans on the main Archers Thread (hence the zipped mouth on the emoji!). Last spoilers thread here: www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4197199--The-Archers-spoilers-thread-6-Cant-wait-for-7-02pm-Join-us-here

Current main Archers thread here: www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4632741-archers-thread-139-whos-the-daddy-no-ceremonial-required-to-join-us-discuss-the-archers-here The main thread tends to last a few weeks. The spoiler thread runs for well over a year, but I strongly suspect it gets read about as much as the main thread.

Ha - it might be rather entertaining if Pat accidentally shoots Lee! (Is it just me or has she been sounding weirdly distant and theatrical since she returned recently?)

Lee isn’t in the cast for the week after next - but unfortunately the teasers don’t suggest a huge Bridge Farm drama.

I’m guessing Paddy Redmond is now deceased, but Adam will discover (through Erin?) that he has a whole other family eager to welcome him?

If that means he and Ian go away to Ulster... Bring it on!

WhoppingBigBackside · 15/04/2023 14:14

I hope that Geowurge does something so bad that he gets locked up and they throw away the key.

Meanwhile, there doesn't seem to be a Radio Times Ambridge Diary this week, or if there is I can't find it, and I have to say that what was meant to be the Update for last week

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 9th – 14th April 2023
The odd alliance between the so-called best men Ed and Jim meets its first challenge. The pair search far and wide for the best venue for Jazzer's stag night, but Jim's idea of a good time is far different from Ed's. While they go on their quest, Adam appears to have made a breakthrough in his search for the wandering cowman Paddy Redmond. Will he be ready for what he finds out about his biological father? Other blasts from the past howl through Ambridge this week as Tracy has an unexpected confrontation, the Lower Loxley painting debate rages on, and one resident goes far too far, causing old memories to come, unwelcome, to the surface.

doesn't seem to have anything to do with what I heard last week. I wonder when it is meant to be happening, since it's not this week either...

Oh well, on with the motley the rest of the spoilers all gathered up:

BBC One-Liners
16 Apr There’s panic at Bridge Farm, and tension rises for Jim.
17 Apr Ian tries to offer some advice, and Jazzer makes a new friend.
18 Apr There’s a shock for Adam, and Ben has a brainwave.
19 Apr Freddie tries to explain his actions, and Adam searches for a silver lining.
20 Apr Tracy faces a ghost from the past, and Pat is in a reflective mood.
21 Apr Lee takes a step too far and Chelsea is on the defence.

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 16th – 21st April 2023
April is cruellest month in Ambridge, stirring Adam to search for his father. Will he find the old man, or is Paddy Redmond now just a handful of dust? Over at Lower Loxley, among the marble and candelabras, nerves are bad as the slave ship painting causes shouting and frosty silences. Poor Tracy paces about when a visit from the past stirs up memories, while Ben plants a new idea at Brookfield. Will David and Ruth let it sprout and bloom? Ed and Jim argue about giving Jazzer a new time, something best left buried is dug up, the Bridge Farm Archers muse on the past, present and future, while the Am flows sweetly, and faint moonlight falls across the road winding to The Laurels.

JanglyBeads · 15/04/2023 15:24

Oo! Thanks Asking

WhoppingBigBackside · 16/04/2023 15:07

Thanks @AskingQuestionsAllTheTime .

'Oliver' and 'David' were on The Reunion today.

JanglyBeads · 16/04/2023 16:39

What was it about, then?!

WhoppingBigBackside · 16/04/2023 16:49

Sharpe - tv series from the 1990s

JanglyBeads · 16/04/2023 19:34

Noo don't talk about the Rylan on the main thread.....

ChocChipHandbag · 17/04/2023 14:40

Do we know what part Rylan is playing? Must be something to do with Eurovision I suppose? Probably one of those "and now we go live to see reactions in communities around the country " with a split-second shot of people waving flags in a village hall?

MuddlerInLaw · 17/04/2023 15:41

I’ve completely assumed he’ll be playing himself! Special guest at some Eurovision-related Ambridge jollification. Would surely be a strange waste to have him ‘act’ some other character when his star value is in being Rylan-Off-The-Telly?

NetZeroZealot · 17/04/2023 18:13

Come over here to discuss Rylan as I accidentally mentioned him & his teeth on the main thread. And got deleted! Fair enough ...

OverArmour · 17/04/2023 19:31

There was a whole random conversation about him earlier on the thread, I thought?

OverArmour · 17/04/2023 19:33

‘20 Apr Tracy faces a ghost from the past, and Pat is in a reflective mood.’

Perhaps she sees her reflection in Rylan’s teeth.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/04/2023 20:00

I think Rylan's only been discussed in detail here. I assume it's another excruciating celebrity appearance.

OP posts:
OverArmour · 17/04/2023 20:30

Yes, I don’t normally read here but was confused by the Rylan chat on the main thread. I find the celebrity appearances excruciating too, they stick out like a sore thumb!

WhoppingBigBackside · 17/04/2023 20:43

Some (very few) of the celebrity appearances are ok. Some aren't.

OverArmour · 17/04/2023 20:46

For me, even when they’re not wooden, they’re often shoehorned in, so awkward - even when they’re well acted I find they bounce me out of my suspension of disbelief which is jarring.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 23/04/2023 19:42

I have been waiting for the Radio Times Ambridge Diary, but I think they must have stopped producing them, so here is what I have at present. If the RTAD appears again I will scoop it up and add it.

BBC One-Liners
23 Apr The problems mount for Harrison and Susan has reservations.
24 Apr Stella struggles with a dilemma, and Lynda finds a formidable foe.
25 Apr Chelsea has her guard up and Lilian reveals some interesting Coronation plans.
26 Apr Jolene attempts to keep order and Freddie is on a mission.
27 Apr Kenton hatches a plan and Brian keeps his cards close to his chest.
28 Apr Justin finds himself cornered and Tracy attempts to manage expectations.

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 23rd – 28th April 2023
As discord breaks out at the Eurovision committee, Paul tries to bring harmony. Justin is relieved to focus on something he actually knows about as he announces his plans for the coronation weekend.
Trouble's also brewing at The Bull for Jolene and Tracy and, after an awkward encounter, it remains to be seen if livewire Chelsea and her brother Brad can put the past behind them.

If the Idiot has waited until two weeks before the event to start planning for the Coronation he really deserves to get no results or help. Or, better, to find out that someone in Grange Spinney has already done it all and there is no room for him in their plans.

WhoppingBigBackside · 25/04/2023 19:43

Thanks Asking

Crepyenvalois · 25/04/2023 19:57

Talking of celebrities, I enjoyed it when Lynda and Robert went to see Dame Edna Everage, and there was mention of their eau de nil painted bedroom.

JanglyBeads · 25/04/2023 23:48

Come on Justin won't be throwing a street party he'll be announcing his Coronation TruckStop

JanglyBeads · 26/04/2023 07:30

I woz wrong

JanglyBeads · 26/04/2023 07:31

(Hadn't listened when I posted last night!)

WhoppingBigBackside · 27/04/2023 19:25

Has Brookfield had any guests other than Jim?
There must be a reason why the SW had the rooms set up for B&B.
Will Rylan stay there or with Lynda?
