Spoilers thread for The Archers. Please keep all spoiler-related discussion in this thread and do not spill the beans on the main Archers Thread (hence the zipped mouth on the emoji!). Last spoilers thread here: www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4197199--The-Archers-spoilers-thread-6-Cant-wait-for-7-02pm-Join-us-here

Current main Archers thread here: www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4632741-archers-thread-139-whos-the-daddy-no-ceremonial-required-to-join-us-discuss-the-archers-here The main thread tends to last a few weeks. The spoiler thread runs for well over a year, but I strongly suspect it gets read about as much as the main thread.

Looks like the funeral is Friday 3rd March. No Debbie in the cast list, and as I see that even Adam is not in the cast list, and neither are Ian or Phoebe, and understandably, neither are Peggy, Christine or Jill - my hope is running out.

Gosh! Are they planning a massive charabanc disaster on the way to the church?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/02/2023 10:54

The sinkhole at last ...

Fabulous, the fine folk of MNHQ have sorted out the formatting issue. Legibility returns!

Sykesy, the wise cracking yet sensitive undertaker??
How can a guest at Brookfield affect Brian?

CaptainMyCaptain · 17/02/2023 14:35

Sykesy - eccentric hitherto unheard of volunteer at LL?

Mystery guest - one of Jenny's exes?

Gonners · 17/02/2023 14:37

Maybe the guest at Brookfield with be Paddy Wossname, Adam's dad. Or, on the assumption that he's long dead, his son - Adam's previously unknown half-brother.

Is it time for Lilian and Tony to bury the hatchet?

Two reciprocal hatchets, with luck.

Madcats · 17/02/2023 14:56

Well if having Jasper Carrott in the cast (and I concur that he is of the right 'voice' to be a 'set in his ways' volunteer) is a way for the editor to lure Hayley back from wherever she and Abi live these days, I am all for it!

BoreOfWhabylon · 17/02/2023 15:16

Thanks Gasp0de

I see Ruauariii is absent from cast for both weeks

ILoveShula · 17/02/2023 16:11

Thanks Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g .
We don't get to hear much about undertakers in TA, do we.

JanglyBeads · 17/02/2023 19:26

Ah, no funeral makes sense of the above.tributes could be some kind of (Kate-inspired???) thanksgiving ceremony.
Which Ruari isn't coming back for.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/02/2023 19:30

I can't believe there would be no funeral. Brian would put his foot down about that.

JanglyBeads · 17/02/2023 19:34

Did you listen tonight?

Gonners · 17/02/2023 20:40

I was cheering Brian on. For all we know, this may have been Jennifer's choice. But if it's his, well, he's the person with the right to choose. If the rest of them want to hold some sort of commemorative event, that's up to them and Brian isn't obliged to attend.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/02/2023 20:41

No, not yet. Oh dear! Will have to catch up before bed.

OP posts:
JanglyBeads · 17/02/2023 22:13

Ah, you need to listen @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g !

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/02/2023 22:35

OK, caught up. Good grief. This is the benefit, though, of being impatient and needing to look at the teasers - I can't see how the one for 3rd March can be anything else but a funeral or memorial service, so I imagine Brian is going to change his mind.

(I've told Mr Gasp I will haunt him if he doesn't arrange a funeral for me.)

JanglyBeads · 18/02/2023 10:39

Re my post just now on the main thread:

Alan in the cast list. I think he'll be dispatched to try and talk Brian round and will end up hearing confession, literally.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 18/02/2023 21:47

With thanks to Gasp0, I'll still do the roundup thing anyway, simply for people to have easy reference.

Radio Times 19th – 24th February 2023
Susan joins those keen to help the Aldridges with Jennifer’s funeral arrangements, but she’s in for a shock when a decision by Brian comes to light. While Brian is busy distracting himself with Roy and Kirsty, can Alice hold it together and avoid a relapse, before Brian comes to his senses?
Meanwhile, Ben prepares to start care work at the Laurels and Ruth and David have their hands full with calving, not to mention their B&B project, where someone steps up to "help" with a trial inspection. Elsewhere, the prospect of Lee's children moving to America has set his mind racing, but what will this mean for him and Helen?

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 19th – 24th February 2023
Soon, Ben will crunch down the gravel path to the Laurels. He should be very, very careful. Many an Ambridger has taken that shrub-lined route, never to be heard of again. While he gropes his way through the strange mist that surrounds the Laurels, Brian stumbles towards a new life. He hangs around with Roy and Kirsty – perhaps a little more than they would like – and is on the receiving end of some brutally frank advice from Adil. He also hosts a dinner party, which, without the culinary skills of Jenny, may prove a challenge for both Brian and his guest.
Meanwhile, Susan, keen to both help out and butt in, gets in on the funeral arrangements, which will set Jenny whirling in her grave – once she gets in it.

JanglyBeads · 18/02/2023 22:46

Oh I wonder if Debbie will be the B&B guest.....

JanglyBeads · 18/02/2023 22:48

She could be "non-speaking" I guess?? Like we hear brine talking to himself about her coming and what he might talk to her about, and then confiding in someone else how that conversation went, or something?

Xol · 18/02/2023 22:59

JanglyBeads · 18/02/2023 22:46

Oh I wonder if Debbie will be the B&B guest.....

Pretty sure that's Jasper Carrott.

CaptainMyCaptain · 19/02/2023 07:47

I thought he would play the eccentric guide at LL that Chelsea falls out with. (A scenario I have completely invented)

JanglyBeads · 19/02/2023 08:07

I'd be fascinated to hear scenes in which a grieving Brian cooks a meal for Jasper Carrott 🤷🏻‍♀️

ILoveShula · 19/02/2023 12:14

I think the B&B guest will be Lynda.
Jasper Carrott will be a volunteer guide.

TherapistInATabard · 21/02/2023 13:25

I think Lynda will be the guest too @ILoveShula
