Interesting jJaichange maybe Patricia is pissed off with the EastEnderfication of TA too!!!!

From all your comments it sounds like Alice could've possibly hit Martha, if she'd been in Susan's arms OMG.

I remember reading somewhere that the alcoholic has to reach rock bottom before finally stopping, is it possible that could happen now?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 22/05/2021 16:47

Well, here we go with another week. It's as interesting for who isn't in as for who is, I feel.

BBC one-liners

25 May Ian offers some advice and Elizabeth is left speechless.
26 May Ruairi attempts to help and chaos reigns at Beechwood.
27 May The pressure gets to Neil, and Lee unveils a surprise.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 24th - 27th May 2021
Beechwood sounds like a property with the 'wow!' (or should that be 'kapow!'?) factor. A house filled with superhero memorabilia.....When can I book my overnight stay? Helen, though, doesn't exactly share her partner Lee's enthusiasms and before you can say 'Ambridge Assemble', Ian and Adam have been roped in to sort the situation out.
Last week's shocking events are still sparking much gossip. Jennifer is offered some much-needed support from Lilian and Tony, but will they ultimately be able to help? And the pressure is also on for the Carters, with Neil in particular feeling the strain. But will anyone don a cape and come to his rescue?

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 24th - 27th May 2021
Fabrice stares morosely out of his salon window looking for Jennifer. The streets of Felpersham are filling up with shoppers, and Borsetshire’s top snipper has been looking forward to dealing with Jennifer’s roots and getting some dodgy Aldridge money in the till; but all Jennifer wants to do is hide away. Even a trip to the village shop is an ordeal, with every tongue wagging about the events of last week.
At least, festering sibling rivalry is put aside, as Tony and Lilian come to her rescue, while Ruairi brings a tear or two to Jennifer’s already reddened eyes when he makes a touching offer.
Poor old Neil, however, is buckling under the strain, and Kirsty, thrown in at the deep end at Lower Loxley, is also under pressure.

Madcats · 22/05/2021 16:48

The "low cast number" comment is a bit odd, though. We've had all manner of police, medical staff, horses... in the cast lists for the past year.

I suppose it isn't inconceivable that "Pat" has tired of her storylines and isn't terribly excited about a long journey to the recording studio. She's in her late 70's, isn't she?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 22/05/2021 16:53

I didn't think there's been a lot of travelling to the recording studio in the past fifteen months, though: their excuse for the reduction to four episodes a week was how difficult it was recording everyone from their homes.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 22/05/2021 17:05

Incidentally, why is Kirsty at Lower Loxley next week? She was about to start working at Bridge Farm, last we heard.

ppeatfruit · 22/05/2021 17:29

Thanks Asking Is it me? I can't see Alice in the cast list, has she been 'put away' ?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 22/05/2021 17:41

Neither Alice nor Susan.

ILoveShula · 22/05/2021 19:35

Thanks Asking. Maybe recording from where the real Pat lives isn't possible. Ruairi will offer his room. Bless him.

ppeatfruit · 26/05/2021 09:30

I finally listened yesterday. it did clear a few things up, I like Lilian wondering whether SHE's an alkie!

Has anyone wondered if Clarrie is now being played by a new actor? In that clumsy 'comedic' scene with newbie yoghurt maker Kirstie. Sorry to be dense but I don't notice the names on your lists Asking

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 26/05/2021 12:18

Clarrie is currently being played by the person who created the role. She's had various actors: Heather Bell 1979 - 1986; Fiona Mathieson 1986 - 1987; Rosalind Adams 1988 - 2012; Heather Bell 10th February 2013 -

MayIDestroyYou · 27/05/2021 12:33

Looks as if Peggy will be coming clean on June 9th! (Reading ahead.)

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 27/05/2021 12:55

If that is from the one-liners, don;t hold out too much hope; they are often not to do with what one hopes they are.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 29/05/2021 16:59

Yet another week for us to look forward to. I do not say with what we look forward...

Radio Times Ambridge Diary May 31st - June 3rd 2021
Mia’s poor little environmentally-conscious heart has been beating wildly for Ruairi of late, but it’s now becoming clear that her feelings aren’t being reciprocated. Emma attempts to manage Mia’s expectations, but she might still be destined for heartbreak.
Adam, meanwhile, has concerns about a family member and decides to philosophise about his life experiences (which I’m sure won’t leave the person on the receiving end feeling patronised).
It’s the end on an era for Jazzer and Ed, who have made a radical decision about their future.
And, at Willow Cottage, whirlwind of disaster Alice continues to cause problems for the Aldridge family.

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update May 31st - June 3rd 2021
The dark forces currently controlling Ambridge like the villagers to keep within their class, and bring sorrow and pain on those who try to get above themselves. Just ask Chris Carter - the farrier is paying the price for marrying into the Aldridge clan as wanton wife Alice’s actions continue to wreak havoc in the village.
Mia Grundy should take heed of this. She’s had enough heartache in her life and now, she’s gone and fallen for Ruairi.
Emma, who knows what happens to Ambridgers with social ambitions, tries to warn Mia that she’s heading for heartache, but will Mia listen to Emma’s advice?

ppeatfruit · 30/05/2021 09:06

Thanks Asking (I admit that her voice was familiar) Her acting was horrific, maybe she was having a bad day.

Interesting breast beating going on about the amount of routine drinking in the families. Though if we were drinking like the Aldridges , we'd both be gonners. We re similar ages. Funny how ONE character has been chosen to be the alkie.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 30/05/2021 10:58

Kate would have been a far better candidate; but we are supposed (goodness knows why) to like Alice and care whether she kills herself. Like we were meant to care about manipulative, abusive Helen being manipulated and abused.

ILoveShula · 30/05/2021 17:10

Thanks Asking

TheThermalStair · 30/05/2021 20:24

Who is Calvin?

BoreOfWhabylon · 31/05/2021 00:55

Social Services?

ILoveShula · 02/06/2021 14:35

Calvin will be Ruairi's latest squeeze.

BoreOfWhabylon · 03/06/2021 19:49

We were both wrong Grin

MayIDestroyYou · 03/06/2021 19:56

Tbf you could both eventually be right! There's no reason why Calvin the Random shouldn't also be a Social Worker. And, as he's clearly ready to mingle, there's nothing to say Ruairi might not be the next person to pick him up in the pub. (Imagine if he were still living at Willow Cottage and took Calvin, (in the dark so no warning,) home; only to fall over Alice on the doorstep. Grin

ILoveShula · 03/06/2021 19:59

I hadn't thought of Alice managing to sneak out and pull. I looked up the actor and thought he would be playing someone younger.

If Kristiffur and Alish divorce, who will they end up with, will they pair off with other Ambridgians? We have Rex, Roy and Kursedy currently single.

MayIDestroyYou · 03/06/2021 20:16

Alice needs to get out of Ambridge. Which would mean leaving Martha behind.

I can't imagine Chris being much interested in any ordinary woman after more than a decade with an Aldridge princess. He'd just become Martha's willing slave, glimpsed now and then whispering to a horse's hoof.

TheThermalStair · 04/06/2021 08:50

Yes like that weirdo in George Eliot - is it Silas Marner? - who's always calling his adopted daughter his "gold"

ppeatfruit · 04/06/2021 15:05
