Spoiler thread for The Archers. Please keep all spoiler-related discussion in this thread and do not spill the beans on the main Archers Thread (hence the zipped mouth on the emoji!). I lost loads of my carefully curated Watched threads too. Sad

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 21/04/2022 22:49

And even if we spend a year or so going and finding them, we'll have to post to them in order to get them back into "I'm watching"! Arrrrrgh!

BoreOfWhabylon · 21/04/2022 22:59

I can still just click 'watch this thread' to get them on my watch list, no posting required.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 22/04/2022 13:00

It seems to vary from account to account. I can click on "watch this thread" until I am blue in the face and there still ain't nutt'n happen. It gets a tick on it in this thread, and it gets "You are now watching this thread" on a little banner for a couple of seconds, but I still amn't when I go to "I'm watching".

Madcats · 22/04/2022 14:46

Thanks for this, Asking. I wonder who Tam Brownlow will be?

My phone really isn't doing terribly well with the site revamp; I've not been able to reply to a thread all week! It refuses to acknowledge that I watch any threads at all. Hey Ho

BoreOfWhabylon · 22/04/2022 15:05

Well, I've discovered that I can watch new threads and they go on my threads I'm watching list, but when I track down ones rhat used to be in my watch list but have now vanished, they are still marked as being watched by me, but I cannot get them back on my watch list for love nor moneyConfused

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 22/04/2022 19:36

BoreOfWhabylon, that is my problem too; I tried unwatching this thread to see whether that would work, since I knew I could find it again, but no joy. And it is no longer possible to delete threads from "I'm on", as far as I can make out, so I can't try doing that to see whether it has any effect.

BoreOfWhabylon · 22/04/2022 19:41

I expect it will be sorted eventually but it's all very frustrating at the moment!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 23/04/2022 13:12

Thanks for the updates, Asking!

Here we go with the two more bits that have come to hand today:

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 24th - 28th April 2022
Every so often, the terms of the Home Farm partnership come back into play, creating inevitable friction. This time Brian finds his hands are tied when he tries to future-proof the business and can't avoid a difficult conversation with one family member - but can they be won over?
Yet it's not all heartache for the Aldridges, as Adam and Ian find themselves with a golden opportunity to live the dream that seems almost too good to be true.
Elsewhere, Tracy's past returns to haunt her, Ed struggles to keep someone close in check, and there's a crisis to be faced on the cricket pitch.

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 24th - 28th April 2022
Over the years, Brian has spent a small fortune on lawyers and financial advisers, keeping the Aldridge coffers filled. Now, he's reduced to tearing around in a panic in a desperate attempt to future-proof his business, but he's running out of options. Stella, still a shadowy figure in the Ambridge landscape, offers a glimmer of hope, but that means Brian will have to have a very awkward conversation with a family member.
There's also a glimmer of opportunity for Tracy, so she pulls out all the stops to make a good impression, but when her past returns to haunt her, that glimmer might be snuffed out.
Meanwhile, on the cricket pitch, where ageing muscles have been tested to breaking point, there's a bit of an emergency.

=============================================================

Another minor but mildly irritating change seems to be that when I copy-and-paste from a text file, this board seems to feel a need to indent each paragraph by one space. It's not exactly a bad thing, just yet another change-for-change'-sake. But it doesn't seem to show when the post goes up, only when I am writing it.

BoreOfWhabylon · 26/04/2022 09:35

Thanks so much @AskingQuestionsAllTheTime

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 26/04/2022 16:54

Apparently we shall be getting back Friday episodes starting on 3rd June.

WhoppingBigBackside · 26/04/2022 20:36

I hope it improves for it.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 30/04/2022 18:17

This lot is not terribly inspiring, really.

BBC One-Liners
01 May Oliver makes a tempting offer and Pat struggles to offer advice.
02 May Roy doesn’t know where to turn and there’s a shock for Pat.
03 May Tracy makes her feelings clear and Stella faces an unexpected hurdle.
04 May Pat contemplates the future and Eddie attempts to help a friend in need.
05 May There’s a sad goodbye in Ambridge and Jolene offers an olive branch.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 1st - 5th May 2022
Things are in flux at Grey Gables, where a new face is making their presence felt. For the staff, it’s a time of uncertainty, with Tracy now regretting her plain speaking, while Roy is worried that ill-considered comments he made in the past will now come back to bite him.
The veteran cricket team, meanwhile, is limbering up for their first test, but worries are soon mounting that they won’t have a full side. There’s excitement for Ed, though, as the Borchester Show returns - though he needs Eddie’s help to choose his potentially prize-winning Texel sheep. Plus there’s a new adventure on the horizon for a long-established resident, and an olive branch is proffered by an old nemesis …

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 1st - 5th May 2022
Over in Grundyland, they're reaching for the carding brush, dagging shears and the finest sheep shampoo money can buy as Ed gets his lambs ready for the Borchester show, and decides which of his flock is the fairest of them all.
A similar activity is going on at Grey Gables, where the staff, feeling they're under close scrutiny, trot around looking bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, hoping for a bonus.
It's the same for the veteran cricket team, who are washing their whites, limbering up and hoping the opposition won't notice that Old Father Time has already given some of them a bit of a pasting.
Elsewhere in the village, an old nemesis appears, an olive branch is proffered and an era ends.

===============================================================
Grey Gables is being shut down for refurbishment at the end of next week, and Tracy has been ringing up all their customers cancelling their bookings. Why is Adil hanging around like bad smell?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 30/04/2022 18:57

Thanks, Asking! All this talk of an old nemesis makes me think Adil is fronting for Hazel. Sad Oh dear. I suppose Adil could plausibly be hanging around to make sure (a) everyone vacates the hotel as agreed and (b) to make preparations for the refurbishment.

WhoppingBigBackside · 01/05/2022 15:45

Thanks Asking

There’s a sad goodbye in Ambridge will be on of Ed's sheep being sold

The hurdle for Stella will be Pip

The adventure and olive branch will be for Kathy, who isn't in the cast list

BoreOfWhabylon · 02/05/2022 19:19

Adil will offer the job to Tracey next.

And the Ambridge Housing Fairy has ensured that April Cottage will now become vacant. Who will get that? Krissifur?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 02/05/2022 22:02

The adventure and olive branch will be for Kathy, who isn't in the cast list

For some reason they seem to think we haven't noticed she is there, or something. I've had to add her to my personal lists after we have heard her, each week. And she wasn't in last week's cast anyway.

TottersBlankly · 04/05/2022 19:28

Why didn’t I make the connection between Kathy leaving and a roof becoming free?! (Although who really cares where Tom & Natasha live?)

Who Will there neighbours be?

TottersBlankly · 04/05/2022 19:33

Grey Gables’ new owner has to be Hazel doesn’t it?

Hard to think of anyone else who comes close to deserving the title Nemesis.

Charlie?

Tiger? (Oliver wouldn’t sell to him, though.)

Henry’s former step-father? (Ditto.)

Why would they think we’d want more Hazel???

KimikosNightmare · 06/05/2022 08:56

The "nemesis' was Jolene- what an over egging.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 06/05/2022 12:01

Asking will know for sure, but I think we last heard of Keeper's Cottage when Richard Locke returned to the area. Wasn't he renting it from Hazel? (Disclaimer: I could have invented this.) Of course, he then disappeared again and has never been mentioned. Presumably William Gaminara got another job, or maybe it was another storyline ditched because of Covid.

It might be my phone playing up, but does anybody know why the most recent Archers thread got the chop?

Admittedly I'm a few days behind, but it seemed pretty uncontroversial last time I looked.

Madcats · 06/05/2022 12:36

Panic over...it's my app!

BoreOfWhabylon · 06/05/2022 14:17

I would have liked the episode to have finished by hearing the ghosts - clips of various GG bits down the years.
