TA (The Archers) annoys me intensely but I still have to listen
I think there is a possibility that we obsess about TA in a way that most listeners don't

If this is you (genuine quotes from earlier threads), or you're new and want to ask anything about The Archers, then this is the right place.

PseudoBadger started it, but we're going to finish it (er, will TA ever finish?)

The panto is meant to be Sleeping Beauty, but are you expecting farce (Mother Goose Pip) or tragedy (Puss Cat in Wedding Dress Boots )?

This should see us through to Christmas. Xmas Smile Archers

At the end of the last thread we were remembering recent successful marriages in Ambridge. How long ago was Ed & Emma?

OP posts:
AuldHeathen · 03/12/2017 19:40

How many Ambridge residents actually know about the missing bunting? Emma and Nic but who else? I can’t actually recall when it went astray, nor where from.

AuldHeathen · 03/12/2017 19:48

Don’t be cruel, Gruach. I need my delusions for just a little while.

R4 · 03/12/2017 19:49

Please, can we have a new Pip-actress. That was painful.

TheAntiBoop · 03/12/2017 19:52

The actress is truly awful. I couldn't like pip any less if they recast

The melling sl is pure bullshit as well

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 03/12/2017 20:52

If Pip goes through with an abortion there will be hell to pay at Brookfield when Ruth finds out (as is inevitable) that Pip didn't come to her.

AuntyElle · 03/12/2017 20:59

“To be honest... Toby was very good at taking precautions.”

Christ, that really was a brain bleach moment.

TheAntiBoop · 03/12/2017 21:05

So pip basically left Toby to take the precautions- given his haphazard attitude to life in general that doesn't sound wise. He was probably using condoms that went out of date in the last decade and had been stored in a box of pins

AuntyElle · 03/12/2017 21:16

CSI: Borchester, with its own 24/7 sandwich shop was an unexpected genre shift... “LEAVE IT, Harrison, he ain’t worth it.”

HarryBiscuit · 03/12/2017 21:18

We have 2 options in soap/drama land for Pip now. Does she:

A) decide to have a scan and then change her mind about a termination after seeing/hearing a heartbeat?
Or
B) Go to the clinic and then change her mind and can't go through with it.

No disrespect to anyone who has done the above, I would just like to see more options!

BeaLola · 03/12/2017 21:53

Oh it takes me back to when Elizabeth got pregnant & had an abortion & Shula was desperate for a baby ....

If Pip proceeds it will pit Elizabeth against her family especially David, Ruth & Shula who will be aghast by Pips actions & will be furious if it (as it will) comes out that Elizabeth knew & didn't tell them.

As for Justin ... could he sound more guilty ?

BertrandRussell · 03/12/2017 22:38

Actually, the bunting mention really pissed me off. The writers really despise their listeners and sometimes it shows

Panting · 03/12/2017 23:19

Obvs Pip is not now going to have an abortion.

I’m another one who is seriously bored by TA at the mo.

Panting · 03/12/2017 23:20

Why’s that Bertrand?

TheAntiBoop · 03/12/2017 23:22

Soc thought he was so clever and he really wasn't. It was beyond boring to deal with his predictable shite

I thought we'd moved away from that under the new ed but clearly not

I'm hoping that they are messing with us be she will actually die whilst having the abortion (I don't know how likely that is) and cause massive family rift that way.

I would quite like pip either killed off or recast

C8H10N4O2 · 03/12/2017 23:40

I don't think I can bear the tedious Brookfield drama which will follow from Pip deciding to have an abortion.
She will have dramatic doubts. Then want to keep it sekrit. Then drama with the Dopeys/Jill find out. Then whilst they all blame Toby for seducing goldenchild. Then when they fall out with Elizabeth. Then...

Kill me now.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 04/12/2017 00:28

An unplanned baby is hardly earth shattering. The drama is basically over once born and everyone is reconciled to a new baby. Pip and Sprog move into Rickyard, Pip can carry on being a farmer (any number of options are available for childcare- Ruth, Jill, nanny/ child minder from the village)

On the other hand Pip not keeping Ruth's first grandchild and Jill's first great grandchild (with Elizabeth's connivance) could lead to years of festering bitterness.

Puremince · 04/12/2017 01:14

She will have a change of mind re the abortion. Josh will prove surprisingly sympathetic and David and Ruth will teeter fleetingly on the cusp of treating Pip and Josh equally. Then before we know it David and Ruth will be gushing over what a good mother Pip will be? Pip - farmer extrodinaire, super-mother, such a hard worker, etc etc.

BertrandRussell · 04/12/2017 06:46

Wouldn't it be fantastic if she took a practical decision, had a termination, told nobody and got on with her life?

Imbroglio · 04/12/2017 06:58

Unfortunately the prospect of squeezing another few decades out of the Fairbrothers is just too tempting.

The baby will have either Grace or Robin as a middle name.

Gruach · 04/12/2017 07:25

TA site joining in the fun. Though no mention of Ruairi ...

RolfNotRudolf · 04/12/2017 07:35

Yes

Bertrand, I really wish that would happen. And if Rewth ever finds out and gets on 'er 'igh 'orse, it would be a timely moment to remind her that such decisions are PRIVATE and not matter for a family council. In the life that people actually live.
