TA (The Archers) annoys me intensely but I still have to listen
I think there is a possibility that we obsess about TA in a way that most listeners don't

If this is you (genuine quotes from earlier threads), or you're new and want to ask anything about The Archers, then this is the right place.

PseudoBadger started it, but we're going to finish it (er, will TA ever finish?)

The panto is meant to be Sleeping Beauty, but are you expecting farce (Mother Goose Pip) or tragedy (Puss Cat in Wedding Dress Boots )?

This should see us through to Christmas. Xmas Smile Archers

At the end of the last thread we were remembering recent successful marriages in Ambridge. How long ago was Ed & Emma?

Mrs L you can listen on BBC iplayer on catch up. You can fast forward it on 20 second bursts. I fast forward all Pip, Tobe and Ruth.

MrsLandingham · 10/12/2017 22:41

What a fantastic idea! Thanks, Lass Smile

TheAntiBoop · 10/12/2017 23:32

Wouldn't it be great if they could collate that data and realise which characters people like listening to and which they skip

HatingTheBigShow · 11/12/2017 08:36

I'd skip Shula - I can't possibly enjoy Christmas as I feel so guilty about Poor Oliver. Oh just fuck off. You'd think that she'd been the one who bumped Caroline off.

TeenTimesTwo · 11/12/2017 08:44

Did you notice the reference again to her having been 'off' since the hunt ball? Did she knock Matt over? Does she suspect Alistair? Or is it just a red herring?

Bekabeech · 11/12/2017 08:46

I thought it sounded as if Shula was foreshadowing an affair. She might also be the person to intervene with Justin.

LillianGish · 11/12/2017 09:36

I think Pip will go ahead with the abortion - far too limiting to tie her down with a baby at this point. More likely she will end up with Toby somewhere down the line and they will have problems conceiving. I’m really, really hoping Lillian and Justin won’t get back together because I will have to fast forward through all the simpering and slurping and I really think there has been nothing more dull than the pair of them when things are going well. Also Lillian has already signed her house over to him, I don’t want him to come back and get his hands on her business. Why can’t she just be happy as an independent business woman - fulfilled and successful in her own right. Was at a party with a couple of these at the weekend - both seeing men, but neither keen to compromise their great lifestyle for domesticity.

"Mrs L you can listen on BBC iplayer on catch up. You can fast forward it on 20 second bursts. I fast forward all Pip, Tobe and Ruth.""

Grin Do you make up the gaps in the story? I see a brilliant party game coming on.........

Ceto · 11/12/2017 16:38

I too suspect that Pip will have the abortion. Then when Ruth finds out about it and compares and contrasts it with her miscarriage, there'll be an awful lot of angst around. But, despite the fact that it arises from the rekindled relationship with ToeBee that she lied about to her parents, Pip will still somehow come out of it all as the golden child.

AuldHeathen · 11/12/2017 16:46

Is it realistic that Justin decides they can go ahead with the nuptials but they had even one make up snog? We know he‘s a shit but it‘s also quite PA (not to mention bad scripting).

AuldHeathen · 11/12/2017 16:47

Not even

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 11/12/2017 23:22

I'm enjoying the panto rehearsal.

C8H10N4O2 · 11/12/2017 23:30

Pip will still somehow come out of it all as the golden child.

Whilst Elizabeth will get the Brookfield ire for not telling them about Toby or the pregnancy when they inevitably find out she knew.

Whichever way this goes we are in for more tedious shite from Brookfield.

If you listen to the download you can whack up the speed for the Brookfield lot, so you know what has happened but in about 1/3 of the time.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/12/2017 06:29

I liked the panto rehearsal too.

DoctorTwo · 12/12/2017 08:11

I particularly enjoyed Alan doing his bongoes. How he kept his temper so long I have no idea.

Bekabeech · 12/12/2017 09:37

The Panto rehearsal was excellent.

ppeatfruit · 12/12/2017 10:37

Hello everyone I've been "Behind You!!" Yes the panto is going very well; stressed Alan is brilliant , esp. his dealings with the OTT Lynda about her being "CARA….bosse" Not 'Deadly nightshade"

Minimammoth · 12/12/2017 15:31

I too am loving the Panto rehearsals.

Minimammoth · 12/12/2017 15:32

Especially the ‘ product placements’

PrincessFiorimonde · 12/12/2017 18:30

Just caught up with the thread. Belated thanks for starting it, DDD.

AuldHeathen · 12/12/2017 19:00

I loved the rehearsal too, especially Lynda being told off.

TheAntiBoop · 12/12/2017 19:05

Yawn

The Brookfield archers are so pathetic

Xmas Hmm I definitely wrote 'Googles' ...

TheAntiBoop · 12/12/2017 19:14

I'm so fed up with soaps and their stereotypical pregnancies

Honestly, Jill said goodnight as if she feared she would be finding pip dead in the morning
