TA (The Archers) annoys me intensely but I still have to listen
I think there is a possibility that we obsess about TA in a way that most listeners don't

If this is you (genuine quotes from earlier threads), or you're new and want to ask anything about The Archers, then this is the right place.

PseudoBadger started it, but we're going to finish it (er, will TA ever finish?)

The panto is meant to be Sleeping Beauty, but are you expecting farce (Mother Goose Pip) or tragedy (Puss Cat in Wedding Dress Boots )?

This should see us through to Christmas. Xmas Smile Archers

At the end of the last thread we were remembering recent successful marriages in Ambridge. How long ago was Ed & Emma?

Hmm - maybe a bit soon for a Heather revival. Though she's sure to have a boy - and a tussle to keep the Archer name at Brookfield.

extinctspecies · 09/12/2017 11:18

Nigella!!

Gruach · 09/12/2017 11:18

Christina or Margaret for a girl? Maggie Archer would be kind of cool ...

extinctspecies · 09/12/2017 11:18

It could be boy though ...

Gruach · 09/12/2017 11:19

Oh but obviously - Daisy Archer.

Gruach · 09/12/2017 11:20

Loving Nigella!

But Daisy is more suitably cow-like.

Regarding the Home Farm job offered to Johnny, Adam knows full well that Ed was put out when the part time work went to Johnny and he knows Ed’s capabilities. For whatever reason he has decided not to offer the full time job to Ed, or to set up a formal interview process to decide between the two of them. It’s not in Johnny’s gift to give the job to Ed, and it is insulting to his prospective employer to go back and say “I am not accepting this job because you should have offered it to Ed”.

There is way too much Pip and Dopeys already, the prospect of Goldenchild producing Goldengrandchild and a year of tedious crap based on Pip could result in me taking a sabbatical!

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 09/12/2017 13:10

It certainly feels as if they get more airtime than others.

MikeUniformMike · 09/12/2017 13:19

Jeffrey?

CraicMammy · 09/12/2017 18:01

Ooh maybe Toby will want to call it Grace... that’ll finish Jill off!!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 09/12/2017 18:13

Davina?

Oh, I do hope she doesn't have a baby. I don't mind Toby but I can't stand Pip. I'm not fond of Ruth either. We'd have to hear far too much of both. We do hear a lot of the Brookfield family because right from the start (1.1.1951) they have been the heart of the programme. It is called The Archers, not Ambridge, after all.

It's just a bit unfortunate that the current Brookfield family is less interesting than almost everyone else living in Ambridge.

Than anyone.

Imbroglio · 10/12/2017 10:31

Jenny is so rude trying to get Peggy to dump the Bridge Farm invitation and spend it with her.

Its a pity that there is such total focus on the Dopeys and Goldenchild when there are plenty of more interesting Archers in Ambridge.

Josh has reverted to being mostly off stage, Ben hasn't been heard in about ten years. Pip is a worse actress than her predecessor but all the focus is on that incestuous trio.

C8H10N4O2 · 10/12/2017 10:45

Metaphorically incestuous that is!

Minimammoth · 10/12/2017 11:17

‘‘Tis the Pantomime season. ‘The wedding is off’
Chorus: ‘Oh no it isn’t ‘

AuldHeathen · 10/12/2017 15:32

Ach, don‘t kid yourselves, the comments would be every bit as negative if the focus was on the Bridge Farm Archers or jenny and her offspring. Grin

TheAntiBoop · 10/12/2017 16:24

I don't think so auld- the problem with the Brookfield archers is the very poor acting and the bizarre family dynamic

As irritating as o found the focus on Helen and rob I was still able to suspend a modicum of disbelief. As soon as pip opens her mouth all I hear is a recording studio

Not from me. I like Johnny as he is a genuinely nice character. I don't mind Pat 'n' Tone and Helen and Tom can be infuriating but are interesting.

Brine and Kate are good comic relief.

MikeUniformMike · 10/12/2017 18:33

I like Johnny too. I wish I did like the Brookfield characters but I find the way they think the sun shines out of Pip's arse puts me right off them.

R4 · 10/12/2017 18:52

David was interesting when he was chafing against older-generation Phil but, as head of the family, he seems to have lost his focus and purpose.
He seems to have little character and direction of his own; he's only a reaction to other people (was Phil, now Ruth, Pip and Jill).

campion · 10/12/2017 19:19

It'll all be sorted by Christmas, Lilian. You'll have him back / he'll have you back.
Whatever...Xmas Confused

This, exactly ^

MrsLandingham · 10/12/2017 22:28

If this pregnancy SL means listening to Ruth's 'caring' voice, I'm going to have to take a break...
