Discuss The Archers here, the long-running thread series started by PseudoBadger. Maybe my puns will tempt her back to take the reigns?

I think Sleeping Beauty references can wait until the next thread which will probably cover much of December.

Lurkers de-lurk! New to The Archers? you're welcome here; the friendly crowd will answer your questions.

But he knew what Rob was doing. He knew.

Yes. And he told everyone. Repeatedly. And everyone knew what Ian thought. And everyone ignored him.

Vango · 21/11/2017 09:28

Pat ignored/condoned Rob's behaviour. Ian didn't.

LillianGish · 21/11/2017 09:30

I think the writers' desperation to engineer a creaking plot via improbable confrontations accounts for Ian's reveal to Justin This with knobs on. I thought his motivation was based on having been kept in the dark himself about Adam's shenanigans with Charlie - he identified (however improbably) with Justin and didn't want to see him being made a fool of. Re Christine's money, what happened to Mat's suitcases? A huge point seemed to be made of his collecting his suspiciously heavy suitcases as he drunkenly left the pub - could they contain the embezzled cash?

AdalindSchade · 21/11/2017 09:34

Lillian is following the cheater's script. Denial, faux outrage, minimising. She knows full well she was having an affair with Matt, she kissed him, told him she loved him and considered running away with him. She's now trying to gaslight Justin.
Justin is a nasty piece of work but so is Lillian. I reckon they will get married to save face but Lillian will be miserable.

ppeatfruit · 21/11/2017 09:39

Lilian The suitcases no doubt accompanied Matt into the cab that he took to the airport. They must have been disgorged in the small bedroom which no member of staff was allowed into to clear up. Just another red herring that the SW's dropped. As far as we know.

We shouldn't be listening so carefully ( I should get a life!!).

ppeatfruit · 21/11/2017 09:42

Yes Adelind I'm not so sure that they'll actually get married.

BertrandRussell · 21/11/2017 09:43

I can't remember Ian telling people about Rob. Did he talk to Pat? Kirsty? Helen herself? Tony? Tom?

TheAntiBoop · 21/11/2017 09:52

Vango - you are totally blinded by your love for Ian!!!

He's been a brat

ppeatfruit · 21/11/2017 09:55

I love Ian because he hit Rob. But I agree he's being like a baby himself atm.

Vango · 21/11/2017 09:57

No-one was in any doubt about Ian's feelings about Rob. He identified him as controlling from the outset. By the time Helen was experiencing the full effects of that behaviour Ian had already been alienated. Pat, on the other hand, was fully supportive of the 'best not to drive' 'you're tired darling' comments. I'm amazed you think the two share the blame equally.

EBearhug · 21/11/2017 09:59

Lilian wasn't keen on doing it, and said she needed to read the papers and think about it. I don't remember if anything further happened, but surely if she had signed, they'don't have been reminding us, just to point out that she really could lose everything.

MelodyMadeline · 21/11/2017 10:28

**Lillian is following the cheater's script.

100% this.

I thought (could be wrong) Lillian had capitulated to signing the papers but we never heard it happen so perhaps it was delayed by Justin's weekend with Miranda and their other shenanigans. Honestly they deserve each other!

TheAntiBoop · 21/11/2017 10:41

I thought she refused to sign it over after his weekend in Scotland

Legally I would imagine she has a claim if she signed it over with no payment on the basis she would continue to benefit from the income stream

BertrandRussell · 21/11/2017 11:04

I thought she tore up the agreement without signing it.....,,

R4 · 21/11/2017 11:15

Legally I would imagine ...

In the real world, Lilian (who took no legal advice) wouldn't stand a chance against the Damara lawyers. I don't know if she signed in the end or not, but being in that compare&contrast episode with Cardboard's financial stupidity doesn't bode well.

I have no sympathy for Lilian. She took up with an unpleasant, unscrupulous married man (Matt), broke up the marriage, didn't get married herself, dallied with another man, got dumped and got done over financially. She has repeated this scenario with Justin. I wish that she would get what she deserves (Meadow Rise) but, being an Archer, the Ambridge Fairy will make sure that she comes up smelling of roses.

TheAntiBoop · 21/11/2017 11:17

She won't get meadow rise because she will be driving Brian nuts drinking his best wine!!

TheAntiBoop · 21/11/2017 11:25

Are you doubting that usha could win against the demara lawyers???? Heresy!!

TheAntiBoop · 21/11/2017 11:26

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferdinand_Waldo_Demara

He even looks the way I imagine Justin to...

TheAntiBoop · 21/11/2017 11:29

Or is it spelt damara?

I've been to Damaraland and seems an odd choose for a name given the business line.

R4 · 21/11/2017 12:01

It's Damara Capital, a private equity company. I'm never sure if it's totally Justin's vehicle or if he is answerable to other investors - they never get mentioned and he does seem to treat it as his personal fiefdom.

Bekabeech · 21/11/2017 12:36

Lilian definitely gave him the torn up agreement after the Edinburgh episode, and it wasn’t mentioned again. Although I’m sure it would have been once Justin and Lilian were on an even keel again.

birdsdestiny · 21/11/2017 12:44

I will be very irritated if Lillian is left destitute and homeless as some sort of comeuppance for having a relationship with a married man. By contrast the two men in this storyline will be fine, Matt sunning himself somewhere with his ill gotten gains, and Justin very wealthy. None of Lillians behaviour compares to Matt's or Justin's. She was not married Justin was. She did not swindle people, Matt did.

TheAntiBoop · 21/11/2017 12:49

It doesn't make sense as private equity to me. Perhaps venture capital.

Although not sure it matters as the sw probably don't know what private equity is

AuldHeathen · 21/11/2017 18:03

If Justin is the great suspect for the hit n run, why is there nothing about his car being taken away for urgent forensic examination?

Gruach · 21/11/2017 19:11

Oh come on! Jill would have completed all her Christmas shopping at least a month ago. She'd never have left it this late.
