Anyone else in bits after that? I wasn't expecting it either.

R4 · 11/07/2017 19:16

I''m in floods of tears. Nicely done.

Fink · 11/07/2017 19:20

I started crying not over that but afterwards remembering the ep where Phil died and the music. Still sets me off.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 11/07/2017 19:20

I knew it was coming (from the spoilers thread) and am still in bits. Caroline was a major character right from when I first started listening in the early 80s. It was inevitable that this day would come because Sara Coward, who played Caroline for nearly 40 years, died a few weeks ago, after quite a long period of illness. That was a good tribute, I thought. Sad

EsmesBees · 11/07/2017 19:28

Yes, a really nice tribute. I knew it would be coming at some point, but caught me off guard today.

TeenAndTween · 11/07/2017 19:47

Yes, nicely done.

I hope Will doesn't inherit too much from Caroline, he will become unbearable and poor Ed and Emma will feel even more inadequate.

capercaillie · 11/07/2017 20:46

Also in tears on that one - funny how the Archers does that to you. Caroline one of my favourite characters and teh way it was done made it sound very real and true to life.

Eastpoint · 12/07/2017 07:26

The goodness in Clarrie shone out in that episode. She must be so pleased to be able to end doing b&bs.

ppeatfruit · 12/07/2017 08:32

It was very well done I thought , I liked Caroline's character and voice, Sad too.

ImAFurchester · 12/07/2017 12:52

I hope Will doesn't inherit too much from Caroline, he will become unbearable and poor Ed and Emma will feel even more inadequate.

Why would Will get something and Ed not?

JessieMcJessie · 12/07/2017 12:55

Because Willnis her Godson and Ed isn't.

TeenAndTween · 12/07/2017 12:59

Furchester For some reason that I cannot remember, Caroline was Will Grundy's godmother, and she has in the past been generous towards him. As Caroline doesn't have any children I think it is likely that she will have left him a bequest, but whether it will be 1k, 10k or 100k I wouldn't like to guess.

It happened before that Will inherited something and Ed didn't, I think it was a relative of Clarrie's? I think that is how come Will owns #1 The Green(?) ?

BertrandRussell · 12/07/2017 12:59

Welcome to Linda's new dog!

Swannykazoo · 12/07/2017 13:09

I cried so much when Scruff came back at Christmas. I was having such a horrible time in the same house as my ex and I distinctly remember crying into the pan of potatoes I was peeling for dinner. Oh sniff, the very thought of it....

R4 · 12/07/2017 13:24

Caroline has been a good Godmother to Will over the years. I hope that Oliver decides that it's time to even things up a bit and gives something to Ed for a change. Like enough for a house deposit?

TeenAndTween · 12/07/2017 13:28

That would be so nice R4 if a bit of good fortune came Ed's way, he and Emma seem to work so hard but can't quite pull themselves up out of worrying every month.

Or even if the Grundys could be given the farm again? (wishful thinking)

Cromwell1536 · 12/07/2017 14:07

Totes agree, ppeat! I was openmouthed at the Oscars ceremony, watching these strange mannequins (Faye D and Warren Beatty) attempt to convey emotion via their traumatised-drumskin faces. I know it's not kind to mock celebrities for their weird surgeries, but well...Anyway, my point was that Lill could (although probably should not) get anything done if she were so minded. Seems that Justin lurves her just the way she is though, so that's alright.

TheAntiBoop · 12/07/2017 15:51

Ed isn't Oliver's responsibility. Who knows if Caroline has left will any more than a token

I don't get the love for ed. I don't see him as the world working against him - he's always just been a bit crap and just lets things happen to him

Imbroglio · 12/07/2017 16:36

Oliver has a big sift spot for Ed and has been a good support. I have no doubt Caroline will have left something to Will and I think it would be in character for Oliver to even things up. I don't think he'll be keen to hang on to Grey Gables and if he sells that he'll have plenty to spare.

ppeatfruit · 12/07/2017 16:40

Cromwell Grin What I can't understand is why the stars have to look so terrible, surely they pay an enormous amount of money to their surgeons ,and they must look in the mirror! I wonder if they ever sue for ending up looking like Lady Penelope the puppet! (that includes Warren B. !!)

I had to laugh today on R2 Nic. Kidman was interviewed , she's just 50 and she was saying she doesn't want to look like a movie star !!! In Secrets and Lies she looks like a smooth faced dummy !! If `Lilian is having expensive botox with her own DNA that's the most effective.

TheAntiBoop · 12/07/2017 16:44

I don't think Oliver is rich enough to be giving money away. Maybe he will remember ed in his will but does he not have children of his own?

ppeatfruit · 12/07/2017 17:07

I do remember Caroline treating Ed the same as Will (there was a SL about it). She didn't want to show favouritism.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to GG.

Imbroglio · 12/07/2017 19:48

I thought it was unlike Kirsty to gossip about Rex. What's that all about?

Roy - also weird. I was listening back in his racist days but you would have thought that years of relying on Eastern European staff would have rubbed off a bit more.

cheminotte · 12/07/2017 22:21

Yesterday's episode was very moving.

Gruach · 12/07/2017 23:25

Yesterday's was the first I've heard for a while. It was rather well done.

I wonder if Oliver will plump for Ambridge or America. He'd surely be lonely in a suite at Grey Gables. Would be fun to have him move back to Grange Farm - squashed in with Grundys. But that would need a novelist rather than a soap writer.
