You know there are teenagers that don't go through a phase where they are selfish etc etc

Can't see why Phoebe can't be the example of one of those!

ppeatfruit · 10/07/2017 12:09

Are there people\teenagers who never get antsy? There are very few ime . Sometimes if they are teenagers they are just leaving the rebellion till later which is probably worse!

Also she calmed down quickly for a teenager not so not a complete volte face.

Ceto · 10/07/2017 13:49

But it wasn't a passing mood with Phoebe - she said essentially the same to Jenny, for all she dressed it up with rubbish about having so much to read. Most people tend to grow up a bit as a result of going to university, she's regressed. She must surely have met students there who are considerably worse off than she is who take it for granted they will be working over the summer. And they have had more than enough examples of selfish teenagers over the years.

I don't like Justin and think Lilian deserves to be happy but I absolutely can't buy a storyline in which Lilian forgives Matt for disappearing overnight and robbing her of tens of thousands of pounds. He's never really explained properly why he did what he did. She would be a pathetic doormat to forgive and forget even if he does pay back all the money. He's not a loveable rogue he's a criminal arsehole.

Imbroglio · 10/07/2017 16:11

I don't like Lillian much. She's fun but vain and self-absorbed. And not particularly loyal or supportive to her family.

Alistair must be around David's age - Kenton and Shula are the oldest siblings, and without checking, I don't have an idea of Alistair being that different in age from Shula.

Allthecarsarelonely · 10/07/2017 16:58

I enjoyed Lynda and Lilian making up. They both have their faults, but can be kind.

I am not sure who Brian might be thinking of. He seems to want someone with fairly direct experience of farming, who is under fifty and is not a close family member. He also appears to have thought of a woman. Ruth? I hope it is not Pip.

MrsArthurShappey · 10/07/2017 17:03

I'm still seething at Brian's revelation that it doesn't have to be a man. And for saying 'clever girl!' to Jenny for being the one to put the thought in his head. I love Brian as a character but he's such a flipping dinosaur!

Cromwell1536 · 10/07/2017 17:03

I enjoyed the Brian monkey glands comment too. But I checked out the BAAAP website and apparently there are neck lifts, fat injections and botox for hands. So FagAsh could go the full Madonna/Joan Collins/Faye Dunaway/ if she fancies it! But the fags and booze will take their toll. These days, the loss of sleep incurred if I take one glass to many leaves me feeling a hundred years old the next day, so Lillian must have a might constitution.

Ceto · 10/07/2017 17:57

Long shot, but maybe Usha as attorney? She's such a polymath in terms of her legal skills, I'm sure it could turn out that she has gained massive farming expertise by acting for farmers.

ppeatfruit · 10/07/2017 18:00

But Madge and Faye certainly don't look like themselves any more it's always obvious and Joan Collins ! Give me growing old gracefully any day Grin

R4 · 10/07/2017 18:03

I'm warming to the idea of Alistair. He's family but not that close. He knows about livestock and farming. He'll be in favour of pharma rather than Adam's woo. He's present in Ambridge. (Dan might have been a good choice but he's disappeared off the face of the earth). But, best of all, is he - unbeknownst to Brian - still susceptible to pressure from Matt?

RolfNotRudolf · 10/07/2017 18:10

If Pip is made RuarIdh's guardian thingy she'll end up selling his share of the farm and investing the money in her latest squeezes get rich quick scheme. Shock
But it is going to be her isn't because she is Pip the Pope and fantastic at everything. Poor Ruaraidh

ppeatfruit · 10/07/2017 18:17

My thoughts on R's attorney is what if he's made a study of biodynamic, organic farming and is keen to get it going at Home Farm! The attorney'll have a fit , how could he or she represent him on the board!.

Rolf Surely if it was Pip she would have to do what R wants to do.

RolfNotRudolf · 10/07/2017 20:18

ppeat the attorney's job will be to act in R's best interests; and because he is a minor what he wants won't necessarily be what's best for him. Pip will happily convince herself that she does know best and will happily sink his investment in a dodgy gin start-up (for example).

My revised prediction is that Ruth will decline the job but convince Brian that St Pip the Pope is the right woman to do it.

Mootsie · 10/07/2017 23:14

Won't Ruth be peeved if she discovers Brian was scraping the bottom of the barrel she was second choice after Tom turned it down?

PseudoBadger · 10/07/2017 23:19

Any Frasier fans here? Les Soeurs Heureux is taken straight from an episode (which didn't turn out well for Les Freres)!

ppeatfruit · 11/07/2017 10:07

I thought that the Duxford sisters will figure more strongly in the SL especially as they're going to open the Fete. (I wonder if Jill and Kirstie will throw rotten eggs and eels at them? Grin )

ppeatfruit · 11/07/2017 14:18

Well well well…….'woof' woof..woof (little puppy sent by a large, scheming wolf 1!!!!).

Minimammoth · 11/07/2017 15:01

I am quite enjoying team Kirsty n Gill.

EBearhug · 11/07/2017 19:11

So Lilian and Lynda are going to make up over Scruff's replacement, because that's what is going to happen.

Wasn't expecting the other storyline today. (Avoiding spoilers for those who will be listening later.)
