It's a very prolonged way of Lilian realising that while Justin may go through the motions, Matt's the one who actually does care, despite his behaviour in the past. I'd be quite happy for them to get to the point sooner rather than later.

BoreOfWhabylon · 09/07/2017 01:39

I agree. When Lilian fell off the horse, we heard Matt's reaction showing how much he loves her (she didn't hear it though).

ThatsNotMyToddler · 09/07/2017 08:03

I often wonder if the scriptwriters think they're being subtle about these storylines, or if we're just going through the motions where they know we all know what will happen in the end.

As soon as Lilian got back from London and Justin was distracted away from noticing her Botox new hair etc I knew that Matt would notice it immediately when he saw her, and tell her she looked a million dollars. Just a case of how long it will take Lilian to realise it's worth the humiliation (as she will see it) of leaving Justin to go back to Matt. Or maybe she won't, and he'll leave again and she'll be forever a bit less happy than she could have been.

The Will story is bugging me too. Agree with PPs who've said we need Nic to sort him out. He's just being spiteful to Harrison. I also would like to know who he thinks will take over the captaincy as I recall Harrison being practically begged to do it in the first place. I've always been sympathetic to Will over the Ed/Emmur thing and its fall-out but he's bring a proper twat about this

ThatsNotMyToddler · 09/07/2017 08:04

being a twat ffs

BOOP for Brian again mentioning Lil's London plastic surgeon [or monkey gland\botox donor Grin ). Jenny going along with the pretence is also funny, Lil is so vain, what's the problem with being 70 fgs? They can't smooth the wrinkles from your hands or neck etc ,it's always obvious.

Halsall · 09/07/2017 11:20

Bit rich of Feebs to gush over Jill's social-enterprise café ('sooooooooo amazing') while toting the designer carrier-bags stuffed with loot from Granny.

Had to LOL a bit at JennyDarling's 'just a coffee for me', though. Did she seriously think she'd be served up Roadkill Three Ways with jus de skip?

BoreOfWhabylon · 09/07/2017 12:24

Listening this morning I was once again reminded what a superb example of radio acting Matt is. He never puts the wrong emphasis on words, his accent is realistic and never falters, his character is believable

Also Brine and David.

The others, not so much.

Ceto · 09/07/2017 12:37

I was seriously pissed off at the sheer absurdity of Phoebe going all grumpy because Alice has money to spend on things. She's always been depicted as reasonably level headed and sensible, so there is simply no good reason why she should feel hard done by because she earns less than a woman with a good degree who is established in quite a heavy duty job.

AuntyElle · 09/07/2017 12:48

I'm enjoying the Lils/Matt dance. That little convo in the Bull was lovely. (I know he's attempting to manipulate her a bit with the 'I see you, remember your bd' etc, but she can hold her own with him. Well, at least when he isn't robbing her blind Hmm). Really liked the tone they got with the shared memories.

ppeatfruit · 09/07/2017 13:50

Ceto have you never had a bad mood and said something silly ? Give Feebs a chance she's young; I thought it was realistic, most teenagers are 'difficult' at times. Or am i the only parent with changeable dh and offspring?

Why is a soap the only place that ALL the characters have to remain exactly the same?

EBearhug · 09/07/2017 14:15

I'm enjoying the Lils/Matt dance.

I'm okay with the Matt side of it. I generally enjoy Matt and Lilian as characters. I think Lilian would be better off without them both, but if it must be a bit ary choice, it should be Matt. I'd be quite happy not to hear much more of Justin. I suspect he will be quote nasty when Lilian gets to the point of dumping him. Hopefully it will be before they marry, and that can'take happen soon because he still has to divorce Miranda.

EBearhug · 09/07/2017 14:16

*can't happen

I was not a Matt fan but yes, I agree about the acting.

But it wasn't a one-off stupid remark. Feebs has had a whole personality transplant.

The horror at Roy's suggestion she might get a summer job as a waiter at the place where her father is the manager was beyond incredible. The credible plot line is exactly the opposite- she would be pushing Roy to get her a job.

You would really have to be the trustifarian brat to end all trustifarian brats to think Roy's suggestion was anything out of the ordinary.

Fink · 09/07/2017 19:46

So Brian has finally realised that a woman could be Ruari's attorney and actually managed to treat it like a revelation! Angry

TeenAndTween · 09/07/2017 19:49

So that will be Pip then?

Minimammoth · 09/07/2017 20:07

Debbie?

Fink · 09/07/2017 20:18

Surely not Pip after the whole IBR thing, and Debbie's already a stakeholder, so they might as well have asked Adam if they didn't mind giving one of the family two votes.

I would have thought Helen except for what was said upthread about Louiza having another role. Maybe someone older but not decrepit, it would have to be someone farmy but who mainly agrees with Brian, I'd think Ruth first (given David was first choice) or possibly Shula second (not a farmer but has at least some idea of the issues).

Imbroglio · 09/07/2017 20:23

Debbie is an other shareholder.

I reckon

Elizabeth 10/1
Anisha 25/1
Fallon 25/1
Kirsty 25/1
Lynda Snell 50/1
Emma Grundy, Nic Grundy, Coriander or Leonie 100/1

Tho' I was wondering if Brian was thinking of appointing more than one attorney.

TeenAndTween · 09/07/2017 20:27

They want someone who knows about farming.
It can't be Debbie she's already a partner or whatever.

Ruth - wrong generation
Helen - if they pick her she'll say no for same reason as Tom

Has to be Pip I reckon.

Fink · 09/07/2017 20:44

But Ruth is 9 years younger than David, who was already considered. She's not ancient!

Alleycat1 · 09/07/2017 22:50

Bore you mean Matt isn't real? Devastated now. Wink

ppeatfruit · 10/07/2017 08:54

Well as a teenager I wouldn't have wanted to work clearing out rooms --cleaning toilets of entitled hotel clients , or waitressing in the hotel run by MY FATHER!!! Anywhere else but not with my father as the boss Grin

Flopjustwantscoffee · 10/07/2017 10:05

Surely it's actually quite healthy for phoebe to morph into a brat for a bit? She's had a lot of being the mature one (particularly in relation to her mother) and not putting herself first/ being put second (again her mother, but it was also unfortunate that the very stable setup between her step mum and father imploded. I don't think it's particularly implausible that after some time away at university she comes back with a bit of an entitled attitude (after all she's seen it work very well for Kate)

ppeatfruit · 10/07/2017 10:21

Yes exactly Flopjust. Notice that Feebs has had little emotional or financial support from Kate.
