Radio Times article

Louiza is no doubt excited about her new role but she does seem a little over the top in the description of CS's current script writers as 'superb'. Hmm

TheAntiBoop · 02/07/2017 09:55

No offence to louiza but it's not exactly Shakespeare. I wouldn't want to be typecast as a soap actress!

ppeatfruit · 02/07/2017 14:06

Better money than radio though Anti Grin I assume Grin

TheAntiBoop · 02/07/2017 14:07

No doubt true

I always think the soap stars are selling their souls!!

ppeatfruit · 02/07/2017 14:11

Yes I agree . I don't watch CS any more since it started competing in the misery stakes with EE. There's enough RL misery without making it up!

Vango · 02/07/2017 14:12

I imagine that means Helen will be "just picking up Henry from school" or "just finishing off a batch of cheese" for the foreseeable future

Did something not say (ages ago) that Justin was in Eastenders? Or am I imagining it?

Vango · 02/07/2017 14:13

*SomeONE not 'something'!

ppeatfruit · 02/07/2017 14:21

I watched Upstairs Downstairs and rewatch it too. He's sooooo dishy in it bloody 'ell. As I said I don't watch EE. I wouldn't have

thought he'd be so desperate Grin

Ceto · 02/07/2017 14:31

According to Wikipedia:

In 2017 Williams made some brief appearances in the role of the chairman of an investment company in BBC Soap EastEnders

Vango · 02/07/2017 14:47

Thanks Ceto. I'm another one who feels a bit sad when actors I know and admire head to the TV soaps. Which I acknowledge is ridiculous. We all have to make a living!

TheAntiBoop · 02/07/2017 17:54

He's getting a bit typecast

Allthecarsarelonely · 02/07/2017 21:15

I listened to the omnibus this morning. I was really pleased for Fallon and Harrison. I remember how lovely and exciting it was when DH and I bought our first house.

I agree that Lilian was very lucky to get away with just some nasty bruises.

It struck me as odd that such an experienced and successful businessman as Justin would be surprised that trying to make business deal with people you have a personal relationship with is a bad idea, and will have major negative consequences for your relationship.

He also seemed very upset that the land deal had caused issues between him and Lilian's family. Surely he is a fairly ruthless businessman. You either put people and relationships before making money, or you decide that if you want to be rich and successful you have to be determined and a bit thick skinned.

Thesingingtoad · 02/07/2017 22:25

Will - what a weasel-faced shit!

TheAntiBoop · 02/07/2017 23:03

Meh - this is what happened when you lie to get your way rather than try to convince people because you are right

Will is always a caricature so he can be wheeled out as mr nasty when needed

ppeatfruit · 03/07/2017 11:38

Interesting SL about Emma and Fallon looking at affordable houses, oh dear they could be competing for the same house!

Also it looks like Emms is going to discover Lynda's Harriet Vane alter ego.

EBearhug · 03/07/2017 12:21

It's going to be a long time off. There's no planning permission yet, let alone building and actual houses.

Mootsie · 03/07/2017 13:44

How will Eddie, Clarrie and Joe afford to live at Grange Farm if Ed and Emma get a house of their own?

I thought they all had to contribute towards the rent.

Thesingingtoad · 03/07/2017 14:22

You think the Grundys will be long-term tenants after the piece in the echo?

Seriously, Joe is 95 - he smokes baccy, drinks home-made cider and has "farmers lung". How long will he last?

DoctorTwo · 03/07/2017 19:05

At times Will is a horrible excuse for a human being. Yesterday was one of them.

TeenAndTween · 03/07/2017 19:21

A couple of things tonight:

  1. How come Grey Gables don't consider Lynda running a B&B as a conflict of interest?
  2. Do you think they are setting Phoebe up to be 'now I'm at Oxford I'm too good to do summer jobs'? I hope not, as she has always been quite well grounded in the past and it seems a bit clichéd.
Gruach · 03/07/2017 19:38

I'd imagine Grey Fables and the Snell's B&B attract very different budgets!

The Phoebe thing was odd. She may well envy any richer friends at Oxford - but she must be very far indeed from the poorest in her circle (she's an Archer/Aldridge after all!) and it's a bit of a slur on Hayley's bringing-up skills to suggest she's changed so much in three terms. I'd have expected a story about how clever she's been in landing a really sought after summer job.

(The luckiest students I knew, way back when, had acquired sailing qualifications, enabling them to spend their holidays crewing boats in the Mediterranean or Caribbean. Envy)

EBearhug · 03/07/2017 23:38

How come Grey Gables don't consider Lynda running a B&B as a conflict of interest?

Yes, I wondered that this evening. I suppose they would mostly be going for different types of customer, but even so...

I was also a bit taken aback by Phoebe. I totally get wanting to have a break over summer, but she should have some understanding of what finances are like, and she could have lined herself up with all sorts. She won't be the only student without a trust fund, and once, a few terms ago, she would have known that.

It must be mixing with PPE types that does it.

TheAntiBoop · 04/07/2017 04:35

That's not Phoebe. Bad sw

And totally crap sl if they end up making her drop out because she doesn't fit in etc etc

Gruach · 04/07/2017 06:33
