Am i the only one listening to Homefront?

I download the whole lot at the beginning of the week and binge listen whilst walking the dogs. Just listened to the extra programme they put out today and, unusually for me, i found it so touching and sad.

Anyone else?

I know what you mean.
Always up for a binge listen me.

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 27/09/2018 07:55

I was pleased to hear Phyllis Marshall back again in yesterday's episode!

Do we assume from Esme's panicked reaction to going to Keepers' Lodge that she might be in an unfortunate condition herself?

Tightlippedmama · 29/09/2018 22:33

Rats! I fell for their spoiler!
Kitty and Victor posing for a photo with Peter, ‘Baby May’ and the Baby.

However, will Victor go back in the closet, once the ‘freedom’ of the war years are over? Or will the ménage a trois with Kitty, Daniel and him setting up home together come to pass?

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 09/10/2018 15:12

Do we think any main characters will be seen off by Spanish flu? It is mentioned often now but so far all the main characters have escaped it.

MrsArthurShappey · 09/10/2018 15:55

It would be unrealistic if none of them caught the flu wouldn't it? I hope Isobel gets it - man, she's annoying!

MrsArthurShappey · 09/10/2018 16:10

Hmm not sure. I thought they were going along the 'back in the closet, another baby or two' route, but then Daniel came back. Now I don't know.

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 09/10/2018 21:05

Hasn't she already had it? I'm sure there was mention of her being ill with it during the last Devon series and I though "ah ha they will kill her off!" but then they didn't.

I do wonder what will happen with Victor and Kitty. It seems hard to see a happy ending for both of them being possible.

Tightlippedmama · 09/10/2018 23:53

I thought the conversation between Kitty and Victor after she’d returned from finding a flat for Daniel was subtle.

I had several HomeFront based conversations with The only other person IRL I know who listens over the weekend. I respect their opinion about Drama. We were both ‘selling’ it to another guest.

I’ve said it before, but I’m going to be sad when we have to say goodbye to everyone.

MrsArthurShappey · 10/10/2018 13:21

Hasn't she already had it?

Siiiiigh, yes you're right. Damn.

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 16/10/2018 11:35

Looking ahead at the one line descriptions of upcoming episodes, I have my suspicions about who is going to be carried off by Spanish flu.

MrsArthurShappey · 17/10/2018 13:50

Oh no, I've just looked!

On another note, Johnnie Marshall is just the pits isn't he? The way he interrogated that 16 year boy and mocked him for looking like he was going to cry Sad

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 17/10/2018 15:26

He's utterly horrible! Was he always so awful? I feel like his character has deteriorated over the years.

MrsArthurShappey · 17/10/2018 16:54

When we first met him he was more sympathetic I think

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 17/10/2018 19:13

Wasn't he just back from Russia and all concerned about the plight of the working classes and conditions at Marshall's factory? All that seems to have gone.

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 19/10/2018 14:14

As expected, today's episode was rather sad.

MrsArthurShappey · 23/10/2018 14:38

And so quick Sad

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 25/10/2018 13:48

I hope horrible Inspector Forrester is about to get his comeuppance!

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 25/10/2018 18:48

I also hope that Juliet Graham doesn't remarry Dr Argent. She has behaved absolutely dreadfully!

MrsArthurShappey · 25/10/2018 18:58

Ugh to both!

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 26/10/2018 15:38

Today's episode was quite jaw dropping. When Gabriel went round to visit Howard I assumed that he was going to apologise for Juliet, not try and badger him into marrying her!

JingsMahBucket · 29/10/2018 15:43

I’m rejoining this thread because this season going full on crazy! I am shocked at something almost every episode and they’ve ramped up the tension so well.

@YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut I totally agree! I’m so glad the scales are finally starting to fall from Dr. Argent’s about Juliet. She’s a horribly mean and vindictive person. I think he only 20% believed Marike when her dying request was for him to not marry Juliet and not let her have the children. Now he finally sees why!!

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 01/11/2018 15:04

More bafflement to be had yesterday as Dorothea Winwood cheerily said she would be happy to bring up Howard's children, and then got very upset when he was mortally offended!

WhiteHairReally · 01/11/2018 16:51

Feel the same here. Juliet's meltdown on the pier was gritty, but now, after half a day being an inadequate ironer at The Lodge and she's off to shack up with poor Rev Hamilton.

But, I suppose with just ten days to go, we've got a lot of tying up to do. With so many characters, it's going to be fast and furious, although 'Real Life in November 1918' didn't just stop.
And there is the promised 'One year on Armistice 1919' episode - that better be more than 13 minutes long!

Glad about Adeline and Silas though.

I noticed that too and thought, "Isn't that really quick?...you only had a nervous breakdown and were beating your children in public two days ago."

And yes they do have to tie things up very quickly but I also think it's a bit like Juliet's character actually. She's not happy unless she's forcing herself on someone, bossing people around or being a snob. I don't use the word "snob" that much to describe characters but holy crap, she is one. Even some of her older relatives, mother, etc aren't as snobby as she is.
