Am i the only one listening to Homefront?

I download the whole lot at the beginning of the week and binge listen whilst walking the dogs. Just listened to the extra programme they put out today and, unusually for me, i found it so touching and sad.

Anyone else?

There's the Spanish Flu to look forward to - it will polish them all off.

Ohyesiam · 23/03/2018 08:46

It’s certainly the mproved. I liked the women’s football team storyline.

NancyJoan · 02/04/2018 16:01

I feel sad it's coming to an end! Hope Kitty's story is resolved, and Roy comes back to be with Alice. Really hope Johnny Marshall gets some horrible comeuppance too.

Iwantacampervan · 03/04/2018 07:57

I only manage to catch a few episodes when it's on live so, having discovered all of the omnibuses, I'm binge listening from the start. I'm now up to April 1916 so only a couple of years to go. I find that I can keep track of characters more easily this way but I'll need to find something to fill the gap when I've caught up.

StripySocksAndDocs · 06/04/2018 18:12

Oh I was just coming on the start a thread here.

I needed to express my annoyance at Kitty.
Twice she's been hypocritical. (That's not really the right description but I'm struggling to thijnk of how to describe her reaction.)

Weezol · 07/04/2018 16:09

Is Kitty even 20 yet? I think she was 17 in 1916. Can someone with a better memory or listening to the older omnibuses help?

StripySocksAndDocs · 07/04/2018 18:39

Kitty was born 1 December 1895 (18 at the outbreak of the war). So she is now 22.

Not a freak!!! I have to refer to the character list to remind myself at times. Kitty shares a birthday with a family member (different year though!!)

expatmigrant · 07/04/2018 18:59

I love it too. Usually listen to the Omnibus edition going to sleep on a Saturday night. Hope Dennis and Ivy get to DTD soon.

Weezol · 07/04/2018 19:00

Thank you Stripy. I have been listening to the omnibusususes since 2016 and can't hold it all in my brain. I'm having a bit of a day of it and it didn't occur to me that at the end of every podcast there's a pointer to the website. That I could have looked it up on. Instead of posting here like a wazzock.

StripySocksAndDocs · 07/04/2018 19:14

I'd be lost without it!!! Can't keep all the information in my head - though it's not that useful. The character bios aren't updated. Or at least I don't think they are.

I can't recall what happened to the vicar's son: Noah Hamilton - recall there was something about a watch and a magician but that's it!

Weezol · 07/04/2018 19:22

I am incredibly fond of Adeline Lumley.

SPOILER ALERT
Especially the tax stamp over 'Reed's' on the football tickets. And the 'fainting' in their shop.

StripySocksAndDocs · 07/04/2018 20:49

Adeline is fabulous. Best character in it. Had forgotten the fainting.

Shame there's not a summary somewhere. Think I've forgotten loads!!

Weezol · 08/04/2018 10:58

I can see her ending up as an MP in the '20's, Dreadnaught backed candidate.

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 08/04/2018 22:03

Noah Hamilton and his mother died in the May 1917 air raid.

I think it was Adeline's sister Phyllis Marshall who faked the fainting episode at Reeds' - she was the one involved in the women's football.

NancyJoan · 09/04/2018 13:22

I love Adeline Lumley, and Dorothea Winwood.

Can't stand any of the Graham sisters.

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 09/04/2018 17:54

The Graham sisters are all awful - I struggle to think which is the worst! Isabel used to be not too bad but recently she's been ghastly with her attempts to split up the curate and his fiancée!

dimples76 · 10/04/2018 20:15

I used to quite like/feel sorry for Isabel but not any more. I find the sisters' Adaline/Phyllis/Sylvia's relationship the most interesting. I am also rooting for Esme and Oscar. Kitty and the sister who married Jonny Marshall do my head in!

WhiteHairReally · 30/04/2018 21:17

I must be quite committed to Home Front as I’ve been trying to download this week’s episodes, only to finally realise it’s off again. I am bereft. I’ll have to look for something else to listen to to make the ironing pile dasappear.

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 30/04/2018 22:28

And it isn't back until 18 June!

I am going to be so sad when it finishes for good in November. I'll have to start again from the beginning.

NancyJoan · 30/04/2018 22:31

It had been so brilliant. There have been stories I have enjoyed less that others, but it has been consistently worth listening to. I shall miss Alice and Esme. And the Rev Poole.

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 04/07/2018 18:55

Anyone else still keeping up? I'm finding it hard to remember what happened last time it was in Devon as that was so long ago!

MrsArthurShappey · 05/07/2018 11:22

Yes I'm still listening. I also can't really remember what happened in Devon before; I'm choosing to think it doesn't matter Grin

dimples76 · 11/07/2018 22:46

I'm really disappointed that it's not in Folkestone. I want to know how the McNades are - Kitty annoys me so much and I'm not a big fan of Victor. I enjoyed Sylvia and husband's reunion.

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 13/07/2018 08:29

I find it sad to think there are going to be a lot of characters we don't hear from again and who's stories might not really be wrapped up. This season finishes in August and I'm assuming the next one will be the last one! I'm guessing we won't get back to Tyneside.

I'm not sure I'm ready to leave all the characters behind in November - I'd love to know how they all get on with picking things up after the war has finished.

MrsArthurShappey · 17/07/2018 12:51

I feel like that too.
