New thread in time for Friday's episode...

OP posts:
Stickerrocks · 05/11/2015 19:08

Do you think Rob has been listening to MN about the evils of bonfire night? Junk food, urchins running riot....maybe they're about to re-enact the Wickerman.

Stickerrocks · 05/11/2015 19:12

Even more reason not to let either of them out of Rob's sight then. Now Rob will use it as even more of an excuse to make Helen cut off her links with Emma.

MrsCampbellBlack · 05/11/2015 19:13

Oh come on is Rob going to offend every family in ambridge and no-one say anything.

Gruach · 05/11/2015 19:13

Custody.

Stickerrocks · 05/11/2015 19:14

This is horrible to listen to.

Gruach · 05/11/2015 19:14

This. Is. Bad.

MrsCampbellBlack · 05/11/2015 19:15

Oh for god's sake Rob. I just can't keep listening to this.

Timeandtune · 05/11/2015 19:16

I had to switch off. Could a kind Mumsnetter fill me in please?

BoreOfWhabylon · 05/11/2015 19:17

When will Helln have the scan that shows the sex of the baby?

Because that will be when it all hits the fan...

Stickerrocks · 05/11/2015 19:20

Time It's all Helen's fault for showing poor judgement and not listening to Rob. She's changed since she got pregnant and can't be trusted to think properly anymore. Her only job now is to protect the boy growing inside her. Rob will look after everything else for her....

EsmesBees · 05/11/2015 19:20

Long term listener (and lurker) here. Was so infuriated by tonight's episode I just had to post. Even though it was very heavily sign posted it was still very hard to listen to Henry's 'narrow escape'. Poor Helen is so caught in Rob's net now she can't see how nonsensical it is that she shouldn't be trusted to make simple decisions about her own son.

BYOSnowman · 05/11/2015 19:20

You can find out before 12 weeks these days

BoreOfWhabylon · 05/11/2015 19:22

Thanks BYOS - bound to be a girl, isn't it?

Or a boy but she then miscarries.

Either way, it will be Hellin's fault.

Timeandtune · 05/11/2015 19:22

Thanks stickerrocks. I don't know if I can keep listening through this storyline. I find it very upsetting.

Gruach · 05/11/2015 19:43

I'm not sure I'm enjoying the Calendar Girls symbolism - when it's poor Helen who is being stripped of everything.

Tonight was horrifying.

GruntledOne · 05/11/2015 19:46

That was indeed awful.

Not the central point, but I really couldn't see why Rob couldn't have taken Henry. It's not as if he's exactly busy at the moment.

Mind you, given that A and Es all over the country must be incredibly busy right now, Henry got sorted out impressively quickly.

BYOSnowman · 05/11/2015 20:14

I'm finding this all too much tbh. I don't even find it upsetting anymore I'm just bored of it tbh and unsurprised by every new scene

I'm going to stop listening for a while and might pick up again after Christmas

enochroot · 05/11/2015 20:14

Is he so evil that he rather hoped some harm would come to Henry on Susan's watch?

AnnieNoMouse · 05/11/2015 20:18

I wonder what poison Rob is whispering into Henry's ear? "Mummy has a new baby to look after now, you're not her baby anymore and she won't have time to spend on you - but that doesn't matter because you're my son and we can do all sorts of things together that sissy girls and ladies can't do. Wasn't Mummy silly to let you go to the bonfire with Susan?" etc etc

DadDadDad · 05/11/2015 20:24

Did Rob plant the hot sparkler for Henry to find?

MarmaladeBasedProtectionRacket · 05/11/2015 20:36

Does any one else think Rob may have made a tactical error?

It would be a mistake to make an enemy of Susan surely?

She's upset and feeling guilty now, but if Henry's burn is very minor and enough of her friends tell her it was an accident, not her fault etc, she's going to be cross at the way Rob had a go at her. She's such a gossip and has lots of connections - she could be the one who puts it all together about what sort of a person he is and how many other people he's offended or been aggressive with..........

Stickerrocks · 05/11/2015 20:40

Oh Annie you're putting words in his mouth now. Surely he will drop Henry the moment the new baby arrives, having alienated him from his mum, because he can't bear the thought of him not sharing his genes.

CuttedUpPear · 05/11/2015 20:43

ffs

GruntledOne · 05/11/2015 21:18

Certainly that stuff about the only important thing being the little boy growing inside Helen strongly suggests that Henry is going to be totally sidelined. You can just imagine what would happen to the poor kid if he dares to make a noise whilst SOK is asleep.

I really hope this isn't building up to an Eastenders-style massive Christmas drama, I don't think I can take it dragging on for another two months.

YesterdayOnceMore · 05/11/2015 21:27

It was very hard to listen to. I was shouting at Susan in the radio to WATCH HENRY!! It chilled me to the bone how Rob manipulated Helen and more so that she agreed with him.

However, I don't mind a bit of a chill. I think the story is very well written, and although it is hard to listen to (because it's so well written/ acted) it IS a story, it is going Somewhere.
