BertandRussell - yes, Gruach and I have already mentioned this. Scruff was acquired (bought or rescued, not sure) by Shula and Alastair for Dan, but turned out to be too much work for them so Lynda adopted him, I think being happy to involve Dan in his care as much as he wanted...Dan obviously lost interest as he grew up.

Although ... Oddly enough I don't remember ever saying anything about Scruff's origins.
