Sorry but I couldn't resist an opportunity for puns galore Grin

I didn't initially hear the beginning of last night's programme and have just caught up. That was some unbelievably clunky writing - especially all that stuff about HP saying she had all she wanted from life by virtue of being able to wake up at Brookfield with her family around her. Surely they don't seriously believe that we've all forgotten that a few months ago all she wanted from life was to be able to stay at Prudhoe with her friends around her?

And I have a horrible feeling that we're going to have to listen to Ruth torturing herself about the fact that her mother's last words were "Lost me way and don't know where to go". Urgh.

Toomuchtea · 29/09/2015 12:01

I agree - the whole thing was incredibly clunky, particularly the bursting into song. I am not looking forward to the Ruth torturefest either. And it will come.

InimitableJeeves · 29/09/2015 12:03

They couldn't give HP a couple of weeks drinking tea at Brookfield because she would have SOTMC in the bedroom Jill is supposed to come back to and it would all be a bit creepy. I suppose they can return the orthopaedic bed now and get their money back.

AskingForAPal · 29/09/2015 12:12

I really can't believe someone with bulimia (and a history of EDs) would signal that to all and sundry by starting a campaign of announcing that she's feeling sick and rushing to the toilet. Far more likely to be the (cliche) pregnancy or just stress?

FloraDiesEarly · 29/09/2015 12:21

Yes I was thinking that asking. I don't actually know when bulimics tend to vomit, apart from not long after eating, but you would think they'd do it in private. Obviously harder to fit into a storyline though.

LillianGish · 29/09/2015 12:22

Judging SOC's lack of subtlety in all other areas I think we can safely assume that throwing up = pregnant.

BYOSnowman · 29/09/2015 12:24

And we will know she is going into labour because there will be a massive gush as her waters break

AskingForAPal · 29/09/2015 12:54

Or maybe the old cork-out-of-a-bottle sound effect? :o

Bulimics, as far as I know, throw up secretly in the guise of going to the toilet. Generally people with EDs try anything to hide it.

GriefLeavesItsMark · 29/09/2015 13:02

Please please please let Heather have made will leaving everything (except the picture above the mantle place) to s nice man she met through plenty of fish.

PlayingSolitaire · 29/09/2015 13:03

I have a friend who used to be bulliemic (although I am not sure you ever stop being bulliemic, but she is at least better than she was). She used to "pop to the toilet" a couple of minutes after eating and would be gone sometime. We all knew what she was doing, but she pretended still and we pretended not to notice. Even though we had discussed her eating disorder and were supporting her, when she was actually going off to be sick it was never explicitly talked about and we all kept up a pretence.

Mind you, with morning sickness, people still don't announce it- they tend to urgently need the toilet because they have a stomach bug or similar.

On the balance though, I think it is a very unsubtle way of telling us the is pregnant with Knob Sprog. Sad

AskingForAPal · 29/09/2015 13:10

OMG I've just realised that the bit where they find out that Scruff is in fact the poacher was...a dream I had last night, not a real part of yesterday's episode Blush Blush Blush

Thanks, R4.

ppeatfruit · 29/09/2015 13:22

You're not over infested in TA are you AskingFor ?? Grin Wink

AskingForAPal · 29/09/2015 13:41

...No?! Blush

Maybe I take the idea that this thread is in charge of the plot a leeetle too literally.

BoreOfWhabylon · 29/09/2015 13:41

Mystic Bore predicts:

Miscarriage s/l. (again)

ppeatfruit · 29/09/2015 14:31

Or an abortion S\L Bore more likely IMO.

BoreOfWhabylon · 29/09/2015 14:45

He'll try to kill her if she does that.

Hmmm... That could be how it plays out. Looong s/l with trial etc

AskingForAPal · 29/09/2015 15:29

Sadly I think what's more likely is that she will eventually get pregnant, and then he will start hitting her. If they're consulting with victims groups etc that's what they will tell them commonly happens.

Seriouslyffs · 29/09/2015 16:32
Grin £3 Primark- a reference to fitted sheets. DD1 is off to university at the weekend and she was texting me about what we have and what we need to buy.
ppeatfruit · 29/09/2015 17:01

We don't know if he hit Jess and she'd been married to him for many years, Asking I reckon he's an EA not so much a PA.

InimitableJeeves · 29/09/2015 17:06

I don't know, in many respects Jess seems to have been more passive than Helen. I suspect that if Helen starts standing up to Rob he could move to physical force.

ppeatfruit · 29/09/2015 17:10

If he does get worse, she'll have to do a runner with Henry, when it's possible I suppose. Maybe she could be hid by Kirstie.

AskingForAPal · 29/09/2015 17:41

Well rape is already physical abuse. It's just a matter of harming someone with your penis rather than your fists (and of course unlike hitting someone can be brushed off as a "loving act") but he's already crossed that line.

Gruach · 29/09/2015 17:50

Who was it who posed a quiz question abut another 60th anniversary of a death?

I don't know the answer but I'm sure at some stage yesterday I wrote out a guess - and then was distracted before posting.

Was it Mrs P's husband?

Scarydinosaurs · 29/09/2015 17:57

I was sure that Helen was anorexic rather than bulimic? And when pregnant she restricted and over exercised?

Hadron21 · 29/09/2015 18:09

Just came here to say how great you lot are at predicting plot lines!
